Chapter 101
Gregory's brow furrowed.
He'd always thought the only person in the dance troupe who might not travel with the group was Evelyn.
After all, she wasn't just Benjamin's fiancée, but also the daughter of the Thomas family.
Yet Evelyn wasn't asking for special treatment, but Freya was.
Thinking back to some important people calling him, telling him to take extra care of Freya.
Before, he'd thought Freya was a kept woman hidden away in the shadows, but now it suddenly seemed different.
Could it be that Benjamin's feelings for Evelyn really were just for show, and actually Benjamin's heart had long been firmly in Freya's grasp?
That's why Benjamin would let Freya do something that embarrassed Evelyn like this.
"Is there a problem?" Freya looked apologetic. "My brother only told me today, so I didn't mention it earlier."
"No problem at all, I'll just modify the booking information in a bit."
Gregory immediately made up his mind.
Whatever their relationship with Benjamin was, he couldn't afford to offend either of them, so best not to upset anyone.
"Thanks for your trouble." Freya smiled innocently, then looked at Evelyn, seemingly a bit nervous.
She gathered her courage before speaking: "Ms. Thomas, why don't you come with us? My brother has arranged a private jet; there's no problem with you joining us."
Everyone's expressions became even more interesting.
Proud Evelyn, needing to ride on someone else's coattails?
Just thinking about it felt humiliating.
Just when everyone thought Evelyn would refuse, she actually agreed: "Okay."
Never mind the gossiping people around them, even Freya's expression showed some surprise: "Ms. Thomas..."
"What, regretting your invitation? That's fine, I don't have to take your plane." She laughed lightly, her gaze meaningful.
Instead, it was Freya's reaction that seemed a bit awkward.
Freya was the one who extended the invitation, but when Evelyn accepted, she seemed unwilling.
Even though the people present were inclined to flatter her, their expressions turned strange.
"How could that be?"
Freya cursed inwardly. She couldn't say she was surprised that Evelyn would accept her invitation - that would make her invitation seem insincere.
After a second of silence, that timid expression returned to her face, with a hint of delight in her eyes.
"I thought Ms. Thomas would refuse me, I'm just so happy."
"Ms. Thomas, don't worry, my brother knows your preferences best. He'll make sure this trip is perfect; you'll definitely be satisfied."
Freya kept mentioning "brother," as if afraid Evelyn hadn't heard.
But Evelyn knew the "brother" Freya was talking about wasn't Benjamin, but then, who was it?
Countless thoughts flashed through Evelyn's mind, but her expression didn't change much. Instead, she smiled calmly.
"Good, I'm looking forward to it."
The smile on Evelyn's face grew deeper, impossible to read.
Over the next few days, Benjamin neither mentioned accompanying her to the performance nor said anything about a private jet.
Of course, Evelyn didn't bring it up either.
Until the day before departure, she was packing her luggage.
Benjamin looked at the items in her suitcase, his brow slightly furrowed: "Why are you bringing so little?"
They'd never traveled alone together, but he'd seen her pack for trips before.
The suitcase in front of him wasn't even full, with plenty of space.
"It's just a few days, as long as I have enough, why bring so much? With the extra space, I can bring back some souvenirs."
"Are you feeling wronged?"
"What?" Evelyn was confused for a second, having no idea how his mind made that leap.
She thought about the luggage she used to bring before her trips, and she cleared her throat.
"That time I did it on purpose, packed a lot of useless stuff just to give you trouble."
Thinking of how they used to interact, Benjamin didn't doubt she'd have that kind of mindset.
But still...
His brow furrowed as he examined her suitcase: "That's still too little, you don't even have all your usual things."
As he spoke, he pulled out another suitcase: "Bring all your daily essentials. Don't worry about the luggage, I'll accompany you tomorrow and won’t let you work too hard."
"You're coming with me?" Evelyn's eyes narrowed slightly.
Star Dance Troupe belonged to the White Group, but booking tickets and such naturally wouldn't go through the company's finance department, and Benjamin wouldn't know about it.
So then...
Her fingers tapped lightly on the suitcase, as if asking casually: "If you come with me, what about the company?"
"It's not the first time I've gone out with you, is it? Whenever you had performances before, I always went with you."
True.
Evelyn was an amateur ballet dancer, but her abilities were well-recognized, and she had quite a few private performances.
And Benjamin always went along, worried something might happen to her.
So, the private jet...
She wanted to ask, but then thought better of it.
Anyway, tomorrow at the airport, she'd know everything. Why ask more questions now?
What expression would Freya have tomorrow when she saw her and Benjamin appear together?
Freya was also packing, her expression dark and unreadable.
"Just bring daily essentials; if you need anything, just buy it there."
A gentle male voice sounded, full of affection for her, yet she couldn't help but shudder.
The next second, she turned to look, her face deliberately showing a gentle expression.
"You're the best to me, I'll work hard and won't disappoint you."
"Good girl."
Both their voices were clearly soft, yet somehow gave off a very strange feeling, even an indescribable coldness that made one's heart uneasy.
The airport.
Evelyn liked to leave early, arriving ten minutes before the dance troupe's scheduled time.
Some people who also arrived early saw her and Benjamin appear together, their expressions looking a bit odd.
He wasn't sensitive to the surrounding stares, but was quite perceptive about matters concerning Evelyn.
"You're not getting along well with them?" His brow furrowed slightly as he mentally calculated.
He'd been busy lately, hadn't been to the dance troupe, and hadn't asked about her situation there.
He'd just assumed that as the Thomas family's daughter and his fiancée, no one would dare mistreat her.
The current situation didn't seem to match what he'd thought.
"They're not my friends, what's there to get along or not get along about?" Evelyn was unconcerned. "Why are you here?"
A private jet should go to the VIP waiting area.
"I had Chase book the same flight as you all. I'll just upgrade you when the time comes."
Why wasn't this going as she'd expected?
Her eyebrow arched slightly. Before she could speak, someone nearby with a loose tongue asked first.
"Mr. White, didn't you arrange a private jet for Freya because you were worried about her first time traveling far, that it would be inconvenient for her on the road?"
"Freya?" Benjamin's brow furrowed slightly.
It was Evelyn who kindly reminded him: "Freya said her brother arranged a private jet for her."
