Chapter 47 ...
Chapter 47 ...
Selene's pov.
I wasn't sure I heard Becca correctly.
"Excuse me?" I blinked.
She crossed her arms over her chest with a sly smile on her face.
"I was loud enough, wasn't I?. I don't mind repeating myself though, I dare you to kiss Ethan."
"I, I, I can't, he's my brother." I tried to add as much disgust into my voice as I could.
"Easy then, take a shot."
I can't take a shot either, after my existence at Jack's place, I've gotten a phobia for alcohol.
"Can I not just do something else?, the date is absurd, Ethan's my brother."
"Step brother, besides it's a game, there's nothing to it."
If there was anytime for Ethan to intervene in my business, now would be the perfect time.
He didn't say anything, just continued twirling his juice in the cup.
"I'll take her shot." Vale offered to help.
"No no no, darling. She's either doing the dare or taking the shot, it's just one, that's the rule of the game." Becca insisted.
"She doesn't want to partake in the game anymore, and you can't force her." Vale spoke up for me.
"Calm down Vale, it's not that serious, Ethan isn't even offended and he's the brother." Isaiah added.
Ethan stood up from his chair, a smug smile on his face.
"I'd just go to her, since she's a bit shy."
My ass remained glued to the chair. What does he think he's doing?
Not here, not in public, he shouldn't.
Yet, I didn't do anything to stop him as he lifted my chin and pressed the warmness of his mouth against mine.
It didn't end there, my eyes fluttered then closed as he sucked, consumed me right in front of everyone until my knees buckled.
"Damn Selene." Isaiah's voice cut through my muddled thoughts.
Ethan stepped back and wiped a thumb under his lip.
I could barely breathe, the kiss this time was deadly hot and made me weak.
"That wasn't so hard, was it?" He winked.
Vale grabbed Ethan by the collar violently.
"You son of a,"
His hand formed into a fist, ready to throw a punch.
"No" I screamed and held Vale's hand back.
He took one look at me and let go of Ethan before storming out of the restaurant.
This was what Becca wanted, I couldn't blame her completely, because I sat there and enjoyed it.
"You shouldn't have done that, Ethan." I yelled and went after Vale.
I stepped out into the cold night, I hadn't realised how long we'd spent in the restaurant.
It's really late, it was dark and there was no sign of Vale outside, I started wondering where he could have disappeared to within a minute of stepping out of the restaurant.
I saw him not far from a car, definitely his car.
He was bent over, my heartbeat increased at once, I went over to him. I dared to touch his body. Knowing how much he was hurting right now.
He recoiled from my touch.
"Don't you dare touch me." He barked.
"Vale, I promise you it was nothing, it's just a game."
He straightened to his full height, it was dark outside, but I could see his eyes, glowing with hurt.
"You sat there and let him kiss you like that? You know fully well that he did that to piss me off.”
I scratched my head in frustration, I shouldn't have agreed with the stupid game to begin with.
"It wasn't like that, there was no other option. It was just a kiss."
"Just a kiss, I saw the way you reacted, everyone saw you. I'm starting to feel like there's something actually going on between the two of you beyond this step sibling bullshit you're using as a facade over us."
I flinched as he threw the words at me, it's one of my fears, with the kids, everyone would be suspicious.
Especially when Ethan talked about loving me. I actually felt it, I had to squeeze Vale's hand to comfort myself there.
I took hold of Vale's hand, he tried to refute my touch, but I didn't let him go.
"Look at me, look at me." I repeated, staring directly into his eyes.
"There's nothing between Ethan and me, there never will be."
A lump formed in my throat as I said those words, it burnt like acid on my tongue.
Ethan already has a place, one which I can't publicly acknowledge.
So does Vale, right now I have to assure Vale that he's the one I want.
I thought kissing him, to prove my loyalty, it didn't sync with my thoughts, not after the way Ethan kissed me.
So, I hugged him tight instead, my hand wound around his waist.
"I just have this feeling that he wants to wreck things for us, I don't like him." Vale said close to my ears.
"Nothing like that will happen, I assure you."
We stayed like that for about two minutes, before I released my hands from his waist.
"Let me take you home. I'm not comfortable with him taking you back."
I wasn't comfortable with him taking me back either, that would cause a bloody war in front of the house.
"I'll be fine, I'll just order a cab."
"No, I don't agree to that, get into the car, I'm not taking no for an answer." He insisted.
I looked back into the restaurant, Ethan was standing at the entrance, talking to Isaiah.
I better get into Vale's car before he comes out.
I entered Vale's car and he started the car, reversed out of the parking lot and onto the main street.
That way I'd be home home minutes before Ethan would show up.
An awkward silence hung I the air as Vale drove towards the house.
For some reasons my mind kept falling back into the kiss in the restaurant, I know that's what was on Vale's mind too.
When he finally reached the house,
I turned his face to mine and kissed him, it took some seconds before he kissed me back
At least I know we're back on good terms.
