Chapter 178: Locked in

Chapter 178: Locked in
“I have a doctor’s appointment…”
“It’s not more important than what I have to show you.” he cut in.

“Okay, I will be there in a jiffy.” Carina finally succumbed.
Harry hung up and Carina sat on the bed looking confused, Harry had never contacted her after their last encounter on the mountain. Even when she was added to the new board that would be leading the Hughes company, Harry still never spoke to her, so why today of all days?

What happened? Or perhaps Claudia said something to him? No, but Claudia would never betray her like that. It could have been that there was truly an emergency but then it was too much of a coincidence, someone must have said something to Harry but who else knew about this apart from Claudia?

As she was thinking her phone rang, it was Claudia so she quickly answered.

“Carina, I booked the appointment,” she informed her sister.
“I’m so sorry but Harry just called me to come to the office, he said it was an emergency.”

“Oh,” Claudia remarked, Carina was expecting Claudia to say more than that so when she didn’t she knew she had something to do with it,

“Did you by any chance say something to Harry?” she asked.
“Me? Never, he and I are not even that close, and you know it,” she said confidently.

Carina pursed her lips, maybe she was thinking too much, it must have been just a coincidence she finally convinced herself and got dressed for the office.
A few minutes later she was on her way to see Harry, yet the first person she met when she got to the company was Nathan. He was a bit confused to see her there,

“I thought… erm why are you here? You haven’t officially started working with us yet,” he said.
“Harry says he wants me to take care of an emergency, he told me to cancel all of my appointments and come so that’s what I did. Is everything alright out here? She asked.

The company looked calm and all that but Harry claimed there was an emergency, was he lying?

“He called you so maybe he had a good reason for that,” Nathan replied and quickly walked away to avoid any more questions from her. Carina sighed and resumed her little walk to Harry’s office. She gently tapped on the door and held her breath before she walked,

Harry looked up at her, they both locked eyes for a moment before Carina quickly looked away.

“I’m here.” She muttered nasally.
“Sit down,” Harry said and pointed to the empty seat across the desk.

Carina moved like a robot and went and sat down, hoping he would state whatever he wanted then she would be out of his presence but after waiting in silence for about 30 minutes she got fed up. Harry went about working as if he didn’t call her and that was irritating.

She cleared her throat loudly hoping that it would remind him of her presence but he stared at her with a questioning look, “Do you want some mint?” was all he asked.

“You called me here. You said it was urgent,” she said.
“Yeah,” Harry nodded,

“And I’m here now,” she said.
“Sure,” he replied and went back to his laptop tapping busily, this time Carina was annoyed. It looked like he only called her to waste her time.

“Harry!” she said sternly, “Was there a reason for calling me here?”
Harry looked up at her and then smiled, she looked cute even when she was angry and now that he was thinking about it, he had never seen her angry before.

“I should be asking you that, do you think I have a reason for asking you to come here?”
This infuriated Carina even more.

“You called me here Harry, was there no reason for that? You even claimed it was urgent.”
“Did you have other plans?” he asked.

“Yes! I told you I had a doctor’s appointment.” Carina replied, visibly frustrated.
“Oh…” Harry remarked and got up with his laptop in his hands. “I will be back,” he said and left, Carina angrily grabbed her bag and also got up,

“You won’t keep me waiting when you are the one who called me here.” she snapped and tried to follow him out but Harry locked her inside.
Carina chuckled behind the glass, “I will break this glass Harry! What is wrong with you?” she screamed, he waved at her and walked away.

This couldn’t be normal, Harry must have known something else he wouldn’t be acting this way she couldn’t help but suspect Claudia, she had something to do with this and she couldn’t tell her otherwise.

Right now her priority was getting out of the office and getting back to her appointment but Harry had locked her there and she couldn’t even tell the logic behind it.

She started to bang on the door angrily, the other staff could hear her banging but they couldn’t hear all the screaming and yelling so they tried not to get involved. This was the CEO’s business, not theirs. However, they were afraid that she would break the glass so Kerry hurried to the rooftop lounge to get her boss.

“Sir, She will break the glass” she informed her boss who seemed unfazed.
“Let her break it.”

“Sir, but it will hurt her if it breaks,” he replied.
Harry sighed, “You are right. So what do I do now?

“Please go and talk to her.” Kerry pleaded with him.
Harry nodded and left the lounge leaving his laptop behind. He went and opened the door and grabbed Carina by the waist.

She tried to break free but he held on tightly to her, “Did you ever love me?” he suddenly asked startling Carina.
“What” she mouthed.

“Be honest with me Carina, was there a single drop of affection for me in your heart?”
“Huh?” she muttered again.
