The sounds of his bones cracking made me feel strange, his claws became sharper and his body hair was becoming more and darker. This was the first time I had ever seen a werewolf changing and the way he was reforming made me feel so awkward; I had to shut my eyes and coil back. My anxiety level was rising. What if his wolf pounced on me and killed me?
My thoughts were cut off when I heard a rumble that made me open my eyes. Alpha Keegan had shifted completely and was standing right in front of me.
His wolf was like my height or taller than me and was a very dark black color with a shade of gray. Its eyes looked really golden and it just had to be the most beautiful and huge wolf I had ever seen. I only realized that I had never taken my time to notice his wolf.
"Wow, this is so nice." I let my hand run through its fur and it was so soft and had a very amazing feeling, like a warm blanket.
'Amazing, right?' I was a bit startled to hear his voice in my head. 'Why did you flinch?' he chuckled. 'Don't you know I can mind link you?'
"Why do you never do it?" I asked, unable to speak to him through mind link. "Can everyone else mind link me as well?"
'No, not everyone, just me. It's like the mate bond kind of thing. We can both communicate through mind link whether or not you have a wolf.'
Drex lowered his head and I let my hand slide over it. He shut his eyes with a low purr. "It feels so amazing." I was grinning from ear to ear like a child. It was so nice to feel someone's wolf like this without being scared that I should be punished or my head was going to be chopped off.
His wolf head buried in neck, nuzzling me and it felt very soothing and relaxing.
'Mate.' The same feminine voice I had heard at the party rang in my head again, raining confusion on my head.
'Let's just walk around since you won't be able to keep up with the pace if we run.'
I nodded and followed closely beside his wolf as we walked into the forest. "So what does it feel like to be able to switch to something in a different form?"
'It feels amazing, like you have multiple personalities, like you're two people in one.' He replied.
"It's so sad I don't have a wolf." I sighed.
'It comes with so many responsibilities, like having to bear with another grumpy and annoying bug.' Alpha Keegan said and I heard a growl in my head from Drex that made me chuckle.
"I'd still love to appreciate it, at least I won't feel so alone all the time and would have another voice to give me advice and guide me in the right steps to keep me from dangers."
'You should never feel unsafe. We'll always be here to protect our mate.' Drex replied, his voice was filled with so much possessiveness and was very frigid in an attractive way.
I smiled back at him. "Mate, uh?" I chuckled.
'Yes. Drex has always been on and on about you being our mate since we figured it out... and... he's very... uh... protective, possessive, attracted, and obsessive over you.' Alpha Keegan replied. "And you too?" I wondered, remembering how he'd be jealous whenever I was around Vladimir.
He didn't respond to me. 'I'd like to go on a run.' As expected, he changed the topic. "What am I supposed to do when you go on a run?"
"Try to catch up.' I could tell he'd have smirked as he added that.
He started running and while I tried to run beside him, I was able to keep up with his pace at first, but he suddenly increased it and in a second, he was out of my sight.
"How on earth does he expect me to keep up with that pace?" I dropped to sit on a rock beside a tree, panting from the short run. After a short while, his dark wolf appeared frombehind me, causing me to scream for my life. "Did you want to kill me with fear?" I complained.
I heard Alpha Keegan's laugh in my head and his wolf sat beside me, lowering its head to the ground. 'I apologize about that.' he chuckled.
I caught my breath whilst glaring at him. Remembering that it was such a big deal for wolves to spend time with someone in their wolf form made me feel appreciated. "Thank you for letting me spend time with you wolf." I blurted out.
'No time is too much for our mate.' Drex replied and it made heat flush to my face.
The next few minutes, I made more inquiries related to having a wolf and other aspects and had responses from both Drex and Keegan for till Keegan felt he wanted to change back to his human form.
He rose to his feet. I was expecting another dramatic switch, but his switching back was really quick and without warning, so he was standing right in front of me, completely naked. When my eyes landed on the huge and lengthy bulge dangling between his legs, I screamed and quickly turned away, panting again.
"You should've informed me!"
"I expected you to look away," he replied nonchalantly.
"I don't really know about it and don't know why I was stupidly looking forward to you still being in your shorts." I said with an embarrassed blush rushing to my face.
He sniggered and walked closer to the tree beside the rock I sat on while I tried my best to avoid looking in his direction. After a while of the sounds of items rubbing against things, he pulled me by my arm to turn me to him. I squeaked as he snaked an arm around my waist. My eyes involuntarily rolled down to his lower half and I heaved a sigh that he was in a gray sweatpants.
"Why is your face so red?" he chuckled with a sinister smirk playing on his lips.
"Let me go." I tried to hide the blush that burned my cheeks, struggling to free myself from his grasp.
"Let's head back to the pack house. I have a surprise for you." He smiled down at me and let go of my waist.
"A surprise? For me?" I wondered.
"Yes."
"What is it?"
"That's why it's a surprise. You have to wait to see it." He added with a mischievous grin.
