Chapter 58 Chapter 58
\- JANE -
I was extremely bored and remembering that Mae was around, I decided to look for her. I checked everywhere for her and even checked the secretary's office, but she wasn't there.
When she was nowhere to be found, I decided to check Crystal and Mason's room, assuming she'd be there since there were sisters.
I knocked on the door to Crystal's room and realized that it wasn't really making any sense, so I stopped and when I decided to turn back, the door was opened and Crystal walked out of the room with a smile on her face. "Oh, hey, Jane. How are you? What brings you here?"
"I'm so sorry for disturbing you. I was just searching for Mae everywhere and I couldn't find her, so I assumed she would be with you." I said with a grin.
"Oh, Mae. I think she had gone out with a guard. I don't remember his name... uhm.. I don't know. Oh yeah, it was Casper; she had gone out with Casper and I can't believe I forgot that. Am I getting old and stupid?" She chuckled and I chuckled as well.
I observed that her tummy was a little bumpy, like she was pregnant or something, but I didn't want to seem like I was poking my nose in their business, so I just smiled and said, "thank you."
I took my leave from there and checked for my phone where I was charging it. When I got to it, its battery was still very low and not ready for my use. I couldn't keep up with this life; it was so frustrating and boring. There weren't even any chores to do and no one to talk to. Plus, I wasn't feeling sleepy at all; I had slept for a very long time tonight. Remembering Alpha Keegan had slept on my lap overnight made heat flush to my cheeks and a strange chill ran down my body at how innocent and cute he looked. I was unable to stop myself from gazing at him and stroking his hair in the most gentle way anyone could ever stroke anything. Thinking about him was making me grin stupidly.
I decided to take a stroll, and wandering around, I was glad that at least no one was going to follow me around, or so I thought? I wanted to feel a little more safe than before as I walked in whatever direction my legs took me, trying to assure myself that I wasn't going to be harmed. I thought it through for the next few minutes and the trauma of being attacked again got into my head. When I decided to stop and head back home, I had already walked for a while and realized I was in front of the pack training ground.
"Can anyone be here? I doubt it. I mean, everyone is free or doing their other daily activities that don't involve training." I said to myself. If no one was inside, this was going to be an opportunity for me to check out the pack training grounds because I wasn't permitted to be in the pack training ground due to the stupid omega rules. I could just take a sneak peek and quickly head out.
I stealthily walked into the park training ground, scanning it around. It was just a very large, extremely wide, and long room with foam-padded protective flooring with other items and multiple equipment that looked like they were either for working out or for training or for boxing.
"There is actually nothing special about this boring room." I said to myself, highly disappointed. I had expected to see something extraordinary, like something that screamed 'violence', except the metals and training machines or whatever those big things against the walls meant, everything else looked normal. "So this is the main place for people to train and improve their strengths while all I have to do was sit in that house for hours doing nothing with my life but attending to chores."
I was about to head out when I heard the sound of something being punched. I shrieked at the sound and turned around, realizing that Alpha Keegan was by the far end of the room and had just punched a punching bag and had a mask over his eyes. A sigh of relief escaped from me. How didn't I notice him there before?
I started heading in his direction; it felt like my legs were going against what my brain ordered because being here was illegal and I was just putting myself in the risk of getting caught.
He was shirtless and as I got closer to him, his sweaty body made him glow so much. His muscles flexed as he continued punching the bag with so much focus. My heart suddenly skipped a beat at his movement. How could he look extremely hot this morning even in his sweaty state? I had stopped and was just staring at him, admiring how even toned his skin was and how specially carved his body was, how his beard was perfectly trimmed to enunciate his beauty, the large scar on his back looked like an equally attractive tattoo. My heart was throbbing faster than normal with a rush of chill running down my spine. I tilted my head, wondering if Alpha Keegan had always been this good-looking or was something wrong with me today?
He lifted the mask from his eyes and jerked his head in my direction with a frown. "Oh, it's you." His frown turned to a smile. I felt like a dumbass or like I was committing a crime because he had just caught me gawking at him like a dummy. "Do you want to train?" He asked.
"Uh?" I had to confirm if he was speaking to me, so I turned around and confirmed that we were the only ones in the room. How could he be asking if I wanted to train? Was this a dream or something?
"Stop acting silly and answer the question." he rolled his eyes. "I could be your personal trainer." he said with a smirk and walked away to grab a towel from a rack of neat towels and dried his body with one of the white towels.
"Am I hearing things? How would you? Training in the pack is illegal for an omega?" I reminded him.
"I made the rule, and because I need a training partner right now and everyone is attending to one thing or the other. We're both obviously jobless at the moment."
"Ouch. That's rude!"
"You might not have the chance to train with your Alpha again." He shrugged, simpering. Hearing that made excitement pump into my blood and I felt like jumping around. "Or don't you want to train with me?"
"Definitely not... definitely... yeah. Why would I miss this once-in-a-blue moon chance?" I bubbled and walked over to him.
"Great! I won't go easy on you. You can still back out now." he dropped the towel and flexed his biceps.
My eyes widened. Was I supposed to back out? If I did, it meant I was never going to have the chance to train with anyone again, not even him. "I'm not backing out. What sort of training is it? Will we like fight or something?"
"That sounds better, let's have a fight." he nodded. "What?! You'd kill me." I frowned.
"Why would I? I promise to be gentle." He shoved his hands into his shorts pocket.
"Are you certain you'll be gentle?" My brows were still furrowed.
"Of course, do you think I'd beat you up and break your bones or something?" he chuckled and that only made me more scared. What if he meant that? "Stop being such a chicken. I understand it'll be your first time in any form of training, so your anxiousness is understood."
"Okay." I nodded to calm myself down. "What am I supposed to do first?" I balled my hands into fists and threw them into the air, ready to send them crashing into his bones.
"Your position is terrible, but just for the fun of it and to test you, I'll let you have your way."
"I won't go easy on you." I threatened and he felt that was funny enough as he threw his head back to laugh. "Are you underestimating me?" I frowned and threw my fists right at his bare stomach.
He stopped laughing and his face suddenly became blank, making me seem like I had committed a crime and cringed back. "What? You asked me to do it." I said in a low voice, lowering my head in my defense. " I apologize."
When I felt a hit on my shoulder, I lifted my gaze to him with a frown, "ouch!" I exclaimed, rubbing my shoulder from the throbbing pain in it.
"It wasn't even that hard. You're supposed to maintain focus. If you're in an actual fight, will you suddenly surrender and bow because my facial expression changes? That's very bad." He clicked his tongue.
"You didn't have to hit me that hard." I angrily started throwing multiple punches at him, but it only seemed to make his laugh. "Does it feel like a tickle?" it was pissing me off that he wasn't even budging or experiencing any pain despite my effort. I was hitting him with everything in me, both for fun and to hurt him as payback for the things he had done to me. I added extra strength and hit him but his body was like a rock and the blow made my hand hurt, it felt like I had broken my wrist but he still seemed unaffected by my heaving punches. Panting, I dropped to the floor and lifted my gaze to him, massaging my wrist. "It... it makes no sense."
He smirked and left before returning and pulled me up by my arm. "Do you need water?" He offered, passing his bottle of water to me.
The way he held my arm made me feel my body feel stiff and goosebumps coated my skin, his touch made the pain in my wrist feel like it washed away completely, which clearly didn't make any sense. I shook myself out of his grip and accepted the bottle of water. "Thank you." I muttered and took a gulp of the water before I was finally able to catch my breath.
"Is there anything else you need? He asked me.
"What I need?" I wondered.
"Yes. Are you still interested in training or fighting more?"
"No. I don't want you to break any more of my bones." I scoffed, pissed off that the session was so short.
He chuckled again and accepted the bottle from me and dropped it on the floor. "I guess you weren't supposed to start with the physical fight yet. Normally you'd start with lectures on how to learn a few skills and other things you need to know before you actually go to physical training." "Why didn't you let me know that at first and just made me jump into the main fight?" a line formed between my brows.
He shrugged. "I just wanted to test you out. Anyway, if there's anything you'd like to inquire about fighting, you have a chance to ask me. I guess I'm free all day, so I can answer anything.
I remembered Casper's words and he was clearly in the perfect mood to be asked multiple questions.. "I heard something about improving natural strength. Do you think it's possible for me to improve my natural strength and maybe it can help me to be promoted from the strength of an Omega to something more higher?" I asked him
"Of course, you can. It's really, really hard. If you're interested in it, I can help you out; however, you mustn't let anyone know about it at all until it is completed. If you do... you'd place yourself in so much trouble."
"So you'd really help me help me out?" my face was lit with a smile.
"Of course." he randomly held my hand. "So... tell me about your likes and dislikes."
My eyebrow quirked at him; it was such a random question but I stopped to think of the answer to it." My dislikes? My life." I said in a very serious tone.
He peered into me like he was trying to derive information from my eyes to see if I was being serious then shrugged it off. "What are your likes?"
"My likes are the things I never have the chance to have. I enjoy having new things like new and good clothes that haven't already been worn to death, especially new shoes, and Oh my gosh, I love makeup so much! Though I've never had the chance to own any makeup item in my whole life. Another one of my likes, like I said back at the lake in the Andersons, I really enjoy nature. I like being around the trees, flowers, the water, everything. Pretty sure my life would be happier if I just had these few things."
"I don't think you can say that. You can never really know if it'll actually make your life happier until you have them." he was poker-faced.
"Oh, you can't say that. I'm definitely sure I'll be happier if I can just live alone with the love of my life in a place surrounded by nature, have good food everyday, new clothes, shoes, makeup, and have all other necessities of life without having to overwork without being appreciated. For it to be perfect, I'll live with the love of my life, why won't everything be much better?
"I definitely understand your perspective, but back when I was younger, I used to think when I have all the things I have now, I'll be so happy, but it's not as I thought it is."
I peered at him, wondering what he was insinuating.
"All I'm trying to say is that, one can never be satisfied completely. This life is a mess. "I'm really surprised that these are your likes. And how wouldn't you ever have owned a makeup item as a 22-year-old female?"
I glared at him with a face that read 'seriously?" "I'm an omega in Dark Stone pack. Why'd I have anything?"
He stared at me like he just realized that. "Are you interested in a run?" That was another off topic and unexpected.
"A run?"
"Yes."
'I'm sure I also don't have to remind you that I'm wolfless."
"I know, I just really want to go on a run. Drex would like to flaunt his fur. Let's head outside." Still holding my hand, he led us out of the training ground and headed in the direction of the forest and let go of me, stepping backwards.
