Chapter 213 Deserve to Make You Angry
Rebecca kicked the air. When she looked closely, she realized the space beside her was already empty.
Only the big white plushie had been kicked off the bed by her.
And all those stuffed animals, big and small, that should have been messily piled all over the bed were now neatly arranged back in their original spots.
It was as if she had slept alone last night.
"Mom, I'm already awake..."
Rebecca responded.
Alexa pushed open the door with a gentle smile. "Hurry and wash up, then come downstairs for breakfast. Frederick and Alex are already ready and waiting for you in the dining room."
"Oh. Okay. Coming."
Rebecca answered.
The door closed, and Alexa turned to go downstairs.
Rebecca picked up the big white plushie. Looking at its smiling face, the more she looked, the more it resembled Frederick. She angrily punched it a few times before getting up and heading to the bathroom.
Coming downstairs, she saw Frederick and Alex in fresh clothes. This was new.
Her eyes flickered slightly. Rebecca curved her lips and looked at Frederick with a bright smile. "Good morning."
As if expecting the reaction, Frederick's expression remained calm.
Alex, beside him, paused for a moment.
Looking at Rebecca, then at Frederick, Alex blinked: What game are you two playing now?
Then, seeing Alexa's gentle, smiling face, Alex took the strawberry pancake she handed over and started eating heartily.
"Frederick, did you not sleep well last night? You even have dark circles..."
"Frederick, you need to care about your appearance even after getting married! If you let yourself go, watch out, or your wife might divorce you!"
"Frederick, are you going to the office after breakfast? You need to work hard and make money. Being broke makes it even easier to get dumped..."
Rebecca ate her pancakes and drank her milk. Having slept well, she looked rosy and fresh.
Frederick remained silent.
Beside them, Alexa couldn't take it anymore. "Becca, stop talking nonsense."
"Oh."
Rebecca nodded, looking at Frederick with apologetic eyes. "I was just talking nonsense. You're not mad, are you?"
"It's fine." there was a little bit of satisfaction now that the tension has died down.
Frederick shook his head and turned to Alex. "I have a meeting at the Azure Water Bay branch office later. Are you going back to Pinewood Mansion or the old mansion?"
"Azure Water Bay?"
Alexa's eyes lit up. "Becca is also going to Azure Water Bay this morning."
Ignoring the obvious resistance in Rebecca's eyes, Alexa looked up at Frederick. "Frederick, if it's convenient, could you give Becca a ride?"
The Getty family had drivers. If Rebecca needed to go to Azure Water Bay, having the driver take her was part of his job.
But for Alexa, if Rebecca arrived in Mr. Windsor's car, maybe the people at the Azure Water Bay gallery would see and treat Rebecca differently.
After all, this was a society that judged by appearances.
Mr. Windsor's face was much more valuable than the Getty family's reputation.
Though using him like this wasn't quite right, when an opportunity presented itself, she had to at least try to see if it would work.
At worst, he'd say it wasn't convenient, and that would be that.
Alexa had prepared herself for Frederick to say it wasn't convenient, but she guessed wrong.
Frederick agreed quite readily. "Sure, no problem!"
Beaming with joy, Alexa turned to Alex. "Alex, you can stay here and play. Later, Layla and I will bake cookies with you. When Rebecca comes back, she can play with you too. How about that?"
Getting to be with Rebecca meant not having to go back to Pinewood Mansion or the Windsor Mansion.
Alex, with pancake crumbs at the corners of his mouth, nodded happily, "Great!"
Alex was smiling.
Alexa and Layla were smiling too.
When Rebecca looked up again, shesaw the smile in Frederick's eyes.
Thinking of herself last night, chasing after him, asking about his romantic history, Rebecca got angrier the more she thought about it. She wished she could travel back in time and slap her self awake. 'That's what you get for being nosy, for prying—serves you right to be upset!' she thought to herself.
