Chapter 214 Unfounded Jealousy
The Maybach pulled away from the Getty family villa. In the rearview mirror, Alex could still be seen waving, along with Alexa and Layla, wearing gentle smiles.
In the passenger seat, Rebecca was still angry.
However, she could not figure out what she was angry about.
Angry that Frederick still had feelings for another woman?
But last night she herself had said that was his past and had nothing to do with her.
Jealous?
It was just ridiculous, unfounded jealousy
Besides, the conversation should have ended at the wall-climbing part, but she had to keep asking whether he still loved that girl. In the end, his vague answer made her more and more upset the more she thought about it.
Izzy had said that with love, whoever falls first loses.
No matter what, she could not lose!
Especially not to Frederick!
Previously, when she didn't know about that girl in his heart, she could occasionally understand having some feelings and little thoughts. After all, this was Frederick - falling for him wasn't impossible.
But now that he'd told her about this, if she still went ahead and fell for him, wouldn't that be crazy?
The car had barely left the Getty family villa area when Rebecca's mind was already at peace.
Thinking back to herself at the dinner table, calling him "Frederick" repeatedly, she suddenly felt as childish as a little kid.
From the corner of her eye, she could see Frederick glancing at her again and again, as if he had something to say. Rebecca decided to give in first.
After all, he was the one with the power in this marriage.
And she was the one benefiting from it.
The person getting the advantage had no right to be proud!
"Frederick, I'm sorry!"
Rebecca turned to look at him. "Last night I was being petty. After all, who you love is your business. We made it very clear from the start that this is a contract marriage, so last night I broke our agreement!"
The smile in Frederick's eyes gradually faded. Frederick gripped the steering wheel, his expression darkening.
Rebecca continue: "Anyway, it was all my fault. I apologize! From now on, I won't touch on your private matters again. And also..."
"I don't mind that you still love her. If the time comes when you want to end our relationship, I'll honor our agreement and won't cause you any trouble!"
Frederick's expression turned completely dark.
He hadn't slept all night.
Before bed, Rebecca had been huffing mad, even threatening that if he dared to make any moves, she would go downstairs and sleep with Alexa.
He did as she wished, but once asleep, she didn't even need him to make a move - she obediently rolled into his arms on her own.
Thinking about how Rebecca had gotten all worked up and thrown a little tantrum after hearing about how he had once foolishly loved a girl, there were countless moments when Frederick wanted to wake her up and ask: Becca, have you fallen for me?
Even if she just hesitated, he would feel that all his scheming had been worth it.
But he was afraid she would say no.
Conflicted, guessing, feeling sweetness inside.
Looking at Rebecca sleeping obediently in his arms, Frederick felt his heart aching and swelling, as if he had returned to those countless nights in the past when he thought of her.
He never expected that after one night, she'd put away those spoiled and willful little thorns and turn back into that refined, elegant, well-behaved, and adorable Getty family.
She even took the initiative to apologize nicely.
She showed the generosity expected of Mrs. Windsor, saying she didn't mind and promising to honor their agreement in the future.
For a moment, Frederick wanted to turn the car around and drive back to the Getty family villa.
He wanted to take her to the Johnson family villa and tell her about the first time he saw her there - where she was standing and what she was wearing.
He wanted to tell her that when Dennis Johnson lured her to jump from the second floor to go on a date, he was nearby too.
He wanted to tell her that the phone call that rang was him calling Dennis.
His gaze swept over Rebecca as she fixed her makeup in the mirror. Thinking about how she was going to attend a jewelry exhibition she'd been talking about for ages, Frederick forcefully suppressed that suffocating feeling in his chest.
The car stopped at the entrance of the Azure Water Bay exhibition hall. Rebecca got out, and before she could finish saying "Bye, Frederick," the automatic door closed, and the Maybach roared away.
Even the roaring engine seemed to express his current mood.
In her mind was that glimpse of Frederick's dark expression. She wondered if he was angry.
Rebecca blinked, looking confused.
She had already apologized, yet he was still angry
She wondered how Frederick could be so petty.
