Chapter 26 Testing
“You have something to say to me?” Leon tilted his head and looked at me critically.
“I think you should tell me!” I plucked up my courage and said, “You brought me here. Don’t you think you should explain to me why? And what about the wedding?”
Leon had never mentioned anything about the wedding to me, but at the end of the mate test just now, I had clearly heard Anna promise Leon that she would attend his wedding. So, was the wedding part of Leon’s plan? When would the wedding be held, or was he already planning our wedding?
Oh, shit! Why hadn’t this man told me anything?
“Tell me what?” Leon said slowly, obviously keeping me in suspense.
“Everything!” I stressed and stared at him angrily. “I don’t want to be led by the nose like a fool!”
“Me too!” Leon crossed his arms on his chest. “If you want to know something from me, at least be polite. Your current attitude makes me very dissatisfied.”
Damn man, why did he always take the initiative, and I could only obey his wishes like a sheep?
Okay, I admit I had lost.
“Please tell me the reason why you brought me here, my dear prince!” I used a respectful tone.
Damn, I had learned to be fickle like this man.
“To test the mateship between you and me, of course!” Leon deliberately raised his eyebrows when he spoke, and he was doing the same thing again.
“I understand that testing relationships is important, but what I really want to know is why we need to be tested. Is it because you can’t mark me and have doubts about our mateship? Or is there another reason?” I asked in a low voice.
“Of course not!” Leon almost laughed. “Werewolves don’t mistake their mates! Do you think I’m a fool?”
“Sometimes I wish you were!” I muttered under my breath.
“What? What did you just say?” Leon said, reaching out and pulling me into his arms. He put his lips to my ear and whispered, “Who are you talking about?”
The hot air from Leon’s mouth poured into my ear, and I unconsciously shrank my neck. Now Leon held me even tighter.
“To prevent the nobles from doubting your identity, I went to the prophet Anna and asked her to prove at our wedding that your mateship with me was arranged by Luna. Even if I can’t mark you, you are still my mate. You will receive the title and respect you deserve,” Leon explained, burying his head in my hair.
“The slaves of the black wolf have spread rumors among the people. They say that because I can’t mark my mate, the curse on me will come true soon, and the Logan dynasty will be destroyed! Poisoning you is also one of their plans! In order to stabilize people’s hearts, we must hold a wedding as soon as possible. Anna suggested that we have a mate test first, otherwise she will not attend our wedding! That’s the way it is!”
“But you should have told me about the wedding in advance!” I complained. “After all, we agreed that our relationship needs to progress step by step. But you always tell me after you’ve made plans. I don’t like it!”
“Alright, Emily! I will carefully consider your proposal,” Leon said.
What? Did he just say he would consider it? Every time I negotiated with this man, I always lost. It made me feel like a puppet being pulled by a rope, but one end of the rope was firmly in Leon’s hands.
“Emily, please don’t doubt me. I just want you to know that everything I do is for us. You are mine, and I won’t let you leave me!” Leon put his lips on my shoulder and gently sucked and bit my skin with his teeth
Finally, Leon buried his head in my chest, lost in thought. The carriage stopped moving, and we had arrived outside the palace castle. Leon ordered the coachman to stop the carriage at the city gate, and then he helped me out of the carriage.
“Baby, as a werewolf, you need to face your fears head-on! Look up at the wall!” Leon said to me.
“Don’t be afraid, they have been put to death by me. Look at them!”
I took a deep breath and slowly raised my head. I saw the dead heads hanging on the wall, their faces appearing so clearly in my sight. I looked at them, and my inner fear gradually calmed down. I began to get used to looking directly at death.
“Emily, you did a great job!” Leon gave me an admiring look. He took my hand and walked towards the castle. “However, our journey has just begun!”
Oh, what was this man up to?
I could feel him slowly changing his mind. But what puzzles me is that every time he wants to do something to me, there's no warning. He would not tell me beforehand where we were going or what we were going to do next.
He was grooming me sexually, he was teaching me how to face my fears, he was going out of his way to ease me into his life. Whenever I did something well, he would reward me or praise me. But I am not his puppy. Nor do I wish to be his vassal.
He's changing me, he wants me to be what he wants me to be. I am not sure that such a change is right or wrong. I wonder how long I shall be able to keep up with him.
Our relationship used to be like a sewing competition. He clearly has the edge.
I wanted to say no, but I could not say no to him.
To tell the truth, I did not want his arrangement. I need him to tell me in advance what he plans to do, and I need him to respect my ideas.
I had hoped for his affirmation, and needed him to be in my mind.
