Chapter 25 Listen to the wind
“Are you okay?” Leon’s soft velvet voice rang in my ears, but there were so many noisy voices mixed in that it took me a while to distinguish what he was saying. My heart was beating faster, my thoughts were confused, and something was pressing heavily on my chest, making it hard to breathe.
“Emily, are you listening?” Leon asked anxiously.
I still couldn’t answer him. Chaotic light was blocking my eyes, and the noisy voice in my ear was getting stronger and stronger. The sound of thunder and lightning, the sound of rain dripping around, and the sound of the wind. These sounds were all mixed up and poured into my mind like a powerful hemp rope.
I felt dizzy, and my body seemed like it could fall down at any moment. Leon held my back with his strong hands and kept calling my name in my ear.
“We need to take her to her room to rest!” Anna’s voice blew away the chaos in my mind like a clean wind. Even a little wind could at least give me a short time to breathe normally.
I felt Leon picking me up, and he followed Anna to a guest room. Leon laid me flat on a clean, carpeted bed.
“I’ll prepare some tea for her!” Anna’s voice and her snow-white back soon disappeared from my sight.
I fell asleep in a daze until I smelled a faint scent of sandalwood in my nose, and I opened my eyes again. But the first person I saw was not Leon, but Anna’s pale and calm face. She sat beside my bed and, when she saw me wake up, covered the back of my hand with her slender and dry hands. Her voice was calm and soft.
“How are you feeling now, dear?”
“Much better!” I tried to take a deep breath, and the feeling of chaos from before seemed to have disappeared. I felt like I was alive again.
Anna’s hands had no temperature, just like the snow and ice in winter covering the back of my hand. This cold feeling extended from the back of my hand up to the depths of my brain. My brain suddenly became awake, and my sight was no longer blurred.
“Have some tea, it will make you feel better!” Anna removed her hands, got up, and brought me a cup of tea from the table. I took the cup and took a sip of the hot tea. The warm liquid flowed down my throat and into my stomach, filling my mouth with its aroma. I felt much more comfortable.
“Where is Leon?” I put the cup on the bed and asked.
“He and his men are patrolling around. Prince Leon thinks that your sudden fainting just now may be related to some bad things.” Anna smiled, as if she thought Leon’s behavior was ignorant.
“What is it? Is it related to the black wolf?” I never thought I would ask Anna such an abrupt question, after all, we had just met. But Anna answered me calmly.
“Within the scope of the Moon Temple, the forces of darkness can never hide! I have clearly told Prince Leon, but he won’t believe me,” Anna shook her head. “Our prince is a stubborn monarch!”
“Can you summon a thunderstorm? So, are you a witch?” I asked curiously. “Can you use magic?”
“No, I’m not a witch. I’m just a mountain keeper,” Anna looked at me helplessly. “Usually, I listen to the sound of the wind and feel the power of the wind. I’m not a witch. I just know what’s about to happen first. Just like the rainstorm just now!”
“Can you tell me what the mate test just now means? Did Leon ask you to do it?” I still didn’t dare to ask Leon directly, so I could only find the answer through Anna.
Damn it, why did I always do this?
“If you want to know what plans Prince Leon is making, why don’t you just ask him?” Anna said in a meaningful tone. “There should be no secrets between mates! Maybe you should be honest with him too, and he will naturally tell you about his plans.”
“I don’t know what you mean!” I bowed my head and deliberately avoided Anna’s eyes, pretending not to understand.
“I can feel the secret hidden in your heart!” Anna lowered her voice and said, “Maybe you can try to feel the sound of the wind, then you will find something different from it! Emily, I’m sure you’re different from ordinary people.”
“What’s the difference?” When I looked up at Anna, I also saw Leon standing at the door.
“The rain has stopped! It’s time to leave!” Leon stood like a statue, as if he thought I shouldn’t talk too much to Anna. The cold expression on his face told me that he was angry.
Anna didn’t forget to look at me when she got up and left. Her eyes seemed to remind me not to forget what she had said.
“Listen to the wind!”
Why does she make me listen to the wind? I never knew I had the power. Is this magic? No, I am a werewolf and not a witch. It must be an illusion.
Things seem to be getting complicated. Why do I keep hearing her tell me that? Did she use magic on me?
Leon helped me into the carriage without saying a word, and the driver drove the carriage faster than when we had arrived, as if he were eager to leave hell. The sound of the wind whizzed in my ear, and I heard the distant and empty voice again.
“He is dangerous!”
I suddenly looked up at Leon in horror. He stared at me with a straight face, and his purple eyes looked straight into my heart like ice.
Was he the dangerous one?
No! He's my mate. Trust him not to hurt me.
But that voice, what was the owner of that voice trying to tell me?
What was her purpose last year?
I was very confused. Who should I trust?
