Chapter 67 When Sleeping with Another Woman's Man, Her Courage Is Greater Than the Sky
"Didn't think Ms. Smith would be into economic news."
Thalia twirled a strand of hair around her finger. "It's not about the news. I'm just trying to learn more about Mr. Brown."
She wasn’t naive. Before getting involved with someone, shouldn’t she check out their overall situation?
What if William turned out to be broke? That would be a disaster for her.
Thalia knew very well she could handle anything in life, except living in poverty.
William didn’t buy her explanation, his deep, enigmatic eyes scanning Thalia.
He smirked slightly but didn’t say a word.
When they arrived, Thalia finally realized where William had brought her.
An Italian restaurant at the Emerald City pier that had recently become incredibly popular among the elite.
Thalia had seen this place pop up on her phone more than once.
People praised the chef as an authentic Italian, and the restaurant's decor was considered very tasteful. Everyone raved that it was unique to Emerald City.
Dining on the balcony, you could see the entire Emerald City CBD skyline and the ferries on the water.
It was almost like they had plastered "romantic" on the restaurant door.
Thalia glanced at the sign and teased, "Didn't expect Mr. Brown to pick such a great spot. Got experience?"
William knew Thalia rarely had anything nice to say, but he didn’t get upset. He adjusted his suit and opened the car door for Thalia. "After you, Princess."
Thalia thought to herself, he's being quite decent today.
"Do you think we'll be trending tomorrow?"
"Do you want to be?"
Thalia pondered for a moment. "I do, but not with Mr. Brown."
"Sure," William nodded mysteriously.
"What do you mean by 'sure'?"
"It means, as an apology, I'll make sure Ms. Smith trends solo."
Thalia: .........
Capitalists really have a different sense of humor.
Thalia and William followed the restaurant manager inside.
As soon as they entered, Thalia vaguely heard whispers discussing something. She even caught Walter's name.
Thalia raised an eyebrow and moved closer. Clear voices came from the other side of the screen.
"Was that Walter just now? With his pregnant girlfriend? Juicy. What would Thalia do if she saw them?"
"That woman looks so delicate but is pretty ruthless."
"Silent dogs bite the hardest."
"Those seemingly harmless women are the most scheming. I bet Walter's brain is full of crap. Why else would he ditch Thalia for a secretary?"
When people start comparing, they start judging. The ones who once looked down on Thalia now thought she was great.
Standing there listening, Thalia felt a bit pathetic. Her worth had to be measured against a secretary.
She, the princess of Emerald City, had fallen to this?
Truly pathetic.
Thalia called the manager over. "Where's Walter?"
The manager was stunned. "I'm not sure who Ms. Smith is referring to."
Thalia thought for a moment. True, Walter had been abroad recently. In a place like Emerald City, if you're absent for a few months, you're out of the loop.
With so many rich kids around, who knows who you are?
Thalia pulled out her phone, found a photo of Walter, and showed it to the manager.
The manager's eyes widened in surprise.
"He's in the second booth on the balcony."
This place wasn't very private, with screens separating the tables. On the balcony, there were only six tables by the sea. You couldn't see who was there at a glance, but if you sat close, you could hear their conversations.
William had been watching Thalia's actions all along. When she pulled out her phone and showed Walter's photo, his demeanor turned icy. The manager instinctively stepped back, not wanting to provoke William.
.......
"Walter? What's wrong?" Aria asked softly, seeing Walter sitting there, barely eating. Her voice was sweet and tender, making one want to protect her.
What's wrong?
Walter's gaze fell on the building across the way, recalling the time he celebrated Thalia's birthday on the rooftop. Back then, even if Thalia didn't let him touch her, everyone still had fun together.
Now? Since being with Aria, it felt like life's brightness had dimmed.
"Nothing."
A chair suddenly appeared next to their booth, and Thalia, in high heels and a haughty expression, walked over, smoothed her dress, and sat in the aisle between them.
Ignoring their shock, she pointed to the tallest building not far away. "See that building? Walter once spent millions of dollars to celebrate my birthday up there. People look at it to reminisce. What do you think he's doing?"
Aria's face changed. Thalia wasn't someone she could afford to provoke.
"Thalia..." Walter didn't want things to get ugly and lowered his voice to call her name.
Thalia glanced at him. "What? You cheated and nearly gave my dad a heart attack. Why can't I say a few words? I'm not even cursing, and you're already this protective?"
Walter was choked by Thalia's words.
"Ms. Clark, how much is this meal? You've been pregnant, and you don't even have a decent piece of jewelry? Walter didn't even buy you a diamond the size of a pigeon egg? You're having his child, where's your car? Your house?"
Aria's face turned pale from Thalia's sarcastic remarks.
She pursed her lips tightly, saying nothing.
"If it were me, and Walter dared to treat me so casually, I'd castrate him and feed his genitals to the fish."
"Ms. Smith, this is between us and has nothing to do with you."
"Nothing to do with me?" Thalia looked at her like she had heard a joke, resting her chin in her hand. "Ms. Clark, when you slept with my man, did you think it had nothing to do with me?"
Walter was taken aback by Thalia's "my man." That moment of surprise was caught by Thalia.
"And now you say it has nothing to do with me? Isn't it a bit late?"
"I've seen plenty of women like you. Bold enough to sleep with someone else's man, then act all innocent afterward. I've never seen anyone who can mess with me for long."
Aria stood up abruptly, her chest heaving with anger, glaring at Thalia with hatred.
"That's all in the past, Ms. Smith. Do you have to be so aggressive?"
