Chapter 66 William Walked In and Undid Her Bra...
"What are you talking about?"
"Yelling at me?"
"Mr. Brown, you’re something else. First, you throw me in the pool, then you drive all the way to the studio to pick me up because you feel guilty. And now, you start yelling at me the second we walk in the door? What’s your deal?"
"If you didn't want to see me, why did you come to get me? And you let me sleep in your room. William, are you serious?"
"Do I owe you something?" Thalia snapped.
She didn't care where William's anger was coming from; she grabbed the cup of medicine and smashed it on the floor.
The loud crash startled Harper, making her jump.
She glanced at the direction Thalia had thrown the cup and felt a bit warm inside, knowing Thalia still had some restraint.
William stood at the door with a cold expression.
He had seen Thalia's temper back when they were in school.
Seeing her angry now didn’t shock him much.
William stepped into the room, and Harper quickly pushed him into the maid's room, closing the door and speaking in a low voice, "Why are you yelling at her?"
"I didn't tell her I'm your stepmom because I didn't want her to feel awkward. Don't make things worse."
William was taken aback, too angry to speak for a moment.
If Thalia knew Harper was his stepmom and still let her pick up trash, that would be too much.
But if she didn't know, that was a different story.
"Go out and apologize," Harper knew William wouldn't say anything nice. All his intelligence was used for business, not for relationships.
In the bedroom, Thalia found the clothes she had worn the night before and started putting them on.
William walked in just in time to see an incredibly alluring scene.
Thalia stood in the closet, catching sight of him in the mirror.
She fastened her bra and reached for the clothes on the chair.
William walked over and unhooked her bra.
Thalia: "Are you out of your mind?"
"Sorry, that was my fault," William pressed Thalia's waist, pinning her against the counter.
Thalia was forced to stand there in her loose bra, looking at him.
"What did you say?"
"I said it was my fault."
Thalia was taken aback by William's sudden change in attitude: "What are you playing at?"
Thalia thought if she kept fighting with William, she might win Hayden's inheritance but wouldn't live to enjoy it.
She tried to fasten her bra and put on her clothes to leave.
But William grabbed her hand.
His deep eyes locked onto hers, intense and unreserved. Thalia worried she might drown in the web William was weaving for her.
She feared she might turn into a beast pouncing on him.
An abstinent man acting seductive was enough to make any woman want to pounce.
"William, don't go too far."
"I didn’t understand the situation earlier."
"I apologize."
"And I have to accept your apology? Are you kidding me?" Thalia sneered and questioned him.
William sighed helplessly: "Thalia—"
The way he said her name sent shivers down her spine.
William, who used to call her sweet names in bed, now called her Thalia outside of it.
Hearing it in the closet today made her uncomfortable.
"Trying to make it up to me?"
"Yes, will you give me a chance?"
Thalia was a refined egoist.
"Sure, but I never accept apologies that don't benefit me in any way."
"Name it," he said, knowing he was in the wrong.
He wasn't completely heartless.
Half an hour later, Thalia and William stood at the entrance of a high-end boutique.
She called over her long-time personal shopper.
"Wrap up all the latest arrivals; he's paying."
The shopper glanced cautiously at William, initially thinking he was some clueless guy. But when she looked up, she was stunned.
The shopper's eyes stayed on William, unable to react.
Thalia noticed and wasn't pleased, making a sarcastic remark: "I should have messed up your face before we left the house."
William: ........
Even an idiot could hear the sarcasm in Thalia's tone. Though William lacked experience in relationships, ever since Thalia appeared, he had been brainwashed by the young women in his office and learned a few things about getting along.
After Thalia's sarcastic jab, he obediently moved closer to her like a puppy.
The shopper snapped out of it: "Sorry, Ms. Smith, your boyfriend is very handsome. You two make a great couple! Only such a distinguished man could match you. Sir, have you been on the Emerald City finance show?"
Thalia's mood improved at the compliment, and she looked at William with a friendlier gaze.
William breathed a sigh of relief: close call.
The shopper picked out a few outfits for Thalia to try on while William waited outside, answering a few messages.
Thalia tried on a deep V-back dress, taking off her bra. The U-shaped back extended down to her waistline.
Her entire back was exposed.
From the front, she looked innocent.
From the back, very alluring.
William watched, his fingers tingling.
"How does it look?"
"Beautiful."
"Really?" Thalia was skeptical of William's words.
The shopper quickly chimed in, "It really looks great."
"Don't you think it's too revealing?" Thalia eyed William suspiciously, seriously doubting if all the romance dramas she had filmed were for nothing. Didn't men usually get upset when they saw their women in revealing clothes?
William sat there, praising her, uninterested?
"I do," William nodded.
"But I can't stifle your love for beauty just because I think it's revealing. If it looks good, that's all that matters."
"Sir, your values are amazing!" The shopper smiled at Thalia, complimenting her: "Ms. Smith, you have great taste."
Thalia felt better and said, "Of course."
After selecting her clothes, Thalia decided to eat out.
"What do you want to eat?"
"Something special."
"I'll take you somewhere."
"Where?"
"You'll see."
Finn drove while the two sat in the back, and he wisely raised the partition.
"Feeling better?" William asked, seeing Thalia looking out the window lazily like a cat.
"Just barely."
"Looks like this meal is crucial," William understood immediately. If the meal wasn't to her liking, Thalia would go back to being herself.
"Mr. Brown knows what's up."
"I'm curious," Thalia found a comfortable position and looked at William.
William handed her a pillow to make her more comfortable.
"How rich are you?"
"Richer than you," William jabbed at her.
"Obviously," Thalia rolled her eyes. How could a movie star compare to a capitalist?
"Daniel makes money for you, Nicholas does too, and you own all that land in the suburbs. I heard you're planning an industrial park there soon. Mr. Brown, just that land alone is worth billions of dollars?"
