Chapter 179 Thinking Of All That Has Happened
Chapter 179 Thinking Of All That Has Happened
Bri
I am sitting on my couch, nursing Gabriel. Armond has Forrest, and Samaria and Selenia are on the floor with the triplets playing with them. Allen is currently in the kitchen getting together some snacks because I was hungry. I looked over my family and couldn’t help but smile.
I thought about what had happened in the last couple of weeks. After my mates and everyone else had rushed into the room and I’d killed Dekon, what I hadn’t realized was that my father-in-law had brought along the Liaison's office. There were so many people here, and we hadn’t known precisely what we would do with all of them.
On some level I honestly thought they should all die. However, I didn’t feel like I had the right to make that call. So, we turned over a huge amount of our investigation to them. Now, Brian had already been working on everything from the beginning. Just because Heather, his partner, had ended up a traitor, he’d never stopped his part of the investigation. So, he was able to work with the local liaison’s office to get all of the supernaturals locked away permanently. Then they worked with local law enforcement to get the humans locked away permanently. Some even ended up in prison psych wards for spouting off about all of us supernatural species and shit. Serves them right, the bastards.
Everything from Dekon’s lab, including the woman he’d had in a vegetative state while trying to breed an army with her body, was taken care of. I felt bad, but she’d already been dead; basically, he’d been keeping her body going with the machines, but when they were turned off, she’d slipped away. I was glad she was no longer being held like that, though. Whatever embryo he’d tried to implant hadn’t been there when they found her, so she’d probably miscarried some time ago, and he was just keeping her on the back burner to use when he’d gotten a hold of me. He was, after all, completely insane.
They combed through all of the residences from Dekon as well as each and every follower to find the absolute last of any other victims, accomplices, and all of the documentation needed for all of the infestations. They had more than enough. All of the money that Sean had been able to filter away from Dekon and all of the money confiscated from the ones in league with him went to all of the victims or their families.
Once it was over, I’ll admit that I broke down for a couple of days. The release of all of the non-stop pressure to end all of this had me a sobbing mess. Not to mention, giving birth was a rather emotional thing to begin with. The boys were perfect though, and so were our other kids. My new friends, as well as Nicole, Bishop, and Sean, were wonderful. She was showing more every day, and her mates couldn’t get enough. I just smiled knowingly.
My fathers-in-law were finally able to speak to Elizabeth’s family. They didn’t live here anymore, needing to move with all of the sorrow surrounding this area. They were relieved to know that he was finally dead and Elizabeth finally had her justice after all. It wouldn’t bring her back, but at least they knew he wasn’t out there hurting anyone else.
My father Maximus and I had finally had our meeting with the council members of the other species about our new hybrid pack. There were mixed reviews as we had expected. He’d sent packets out to anyone who had refused to attend, but in the end we had a huge turnout. We had over a hundred and ten in attendance for the meetings that weekend. We ended up renting out hotel rooms nearby and using one of their meeting rooms. We thought it was more relaxed as it wasn’t on anyone’s ‘territory’ and there was more room.
In the end, basically what it boiled down to was that this was happening and they needed to suck it up and stop being prejudiced bastards to the hybrids. I explained what had happened with the Ilonians and all of that. There was a lot of surprise learning how far back the treachery went, actually. We explained about Adalonians and all of that as well. My new friends spoke quite a bit, and I backed them up.
I talked to all of them about the prophecy. Most supernatural species had already heard about it in one form or another. It had been around for quite a long time. I showed them my mark, and most were rather stunned. To learn that both of my mates had the same mark, which they also showed, floored all of them. This showed we had the very goddess’s blessing. Who the fuck can argue with that?
So, now that we were fulfilling the prophecy, things were changing. The hybrids would become a force to be reckoned with. We were ushering a new era for all supernaturals. Personally, I thought there was going to come a time soon when humans found out about us on a large scale. Right now, there were some who already knew, and I’m sure tons who suspected, but I had a feeling soon we would be common knowledge, and we needed to be ready.
I think some people had expected me to literally give birth to the first supernatural race that would be so monumentally important in helping the supernatural races. I think they just misunderstood the wording. There were already a lot of hybrids. More than anyone knew, as they tended to hide to keep themselves safe. No, the birth in question had been exactly what my father and I were doing. The hybrids were now no longer just individuals sprinkled here and there with no real power. Now, they were a race unto themselves with their own pack and structure. They would no longer be brushed aside.
A lot of the council members were also surprised when I explained that hybrids were actually stronger than all of them. The combination of the races actually created a stronger individual than either of their parents. Several were aghast that I would dare say such a thing, as they had always viewed hybrids as weak and inferior. That was until I floored the whole entire room with one single command to kneel. They all knelt. Then, when I let them up, they were very much surprised and possibly a little afraid.
I thought a little fear was actually a very good thing. They needed to understand that the new hybrid race was not to be trifled with. That we would kick their ass if they got stupid. We would not let them keep us in the dark and silent anymore. Now, we were out there, and we would be acknowledged one way or another. The future was ours.
