Chapter 180 DeJa Vu
Chapter 180 DeJa Vu
Allen
I watched my mate move behind the counter of The Bar. I had finally reopened it about two months ago. She only worked here a couple of days per week, but she’d said she needed a chance to get out of the house. Besides, she had always loved being here.
We’d hired Samaria and Selenia as nannies, and they were a godsend. With five growing kids, the extra hands were priceless. Besides, that allowed Bri to come up here and work with me a couple of nights a week. She wanted to start trying to do more, but right now, I’d talked her into sticking with the only two nights.
The twins had just turned four months old, and now the triplets had officially passed the year mark. It amazed me to see them up and walking around. They were inquisitive and learned things so fast. They all changed so fast. That had been one of the things about opening The Bar back up, missing all of the time with them. I’d held out for two months after we had finally taken care of Dekon, just not wanting to miss any of it. Bri made sure to take pictures and videos every single day for me now.
I scooted behind her and grabbed her ass, and she smiled at me over her shoulder. I remember back when she didn’t know she was my mate, always wanting to do that. I’d had to hold myself back so much, knowing who she was and not being able to tell her. We’d had to wait until it was the right time for Armond as well. Now not only was Bri my mate and his, but she was the mother to our children, and a complete badass all unto herself.
She interacted with all of the supernatural species here, now knowing what they were. She had handled herself even back then when she had no clue any of this existed. It had always been entertaining when she’d kicked some supernatural’s ass, and she didn’t even realize they were a supernatural. They had always loved her, and that hadn’t changed.
“I swear I will jump over this counter and kick your ass if you mess with me, Frank.” I laughed as I listened to Bri tell off one of the customers just as she had always done.
I turned around and saw Frank, the supernatural in question, who was in fact a gargoyle, and had been one of Jimmy’s friends. It almost seemed Frank had decided he needed to step into the shoes that Jimmy had always occupied, being almost like a big brother tormentor to Bri when she was here. She always gave as good as she got, and I think he very much admired that in her; they all did.
Elijah and Joshia had started helping me on alternating nights when Bri was at home. They were getting acquainted with all of the supernatural species here. A lot of these guys were just ordinary working-class folks no matter their species, and the guys really appreciated that and how readily they had accepted all of Bri’s hybrid friends.
Her father had moved to the new packhouse on the new pack territory for the hybrid pack. It was thriving and growing by leaps and bounds. So many hybrids had heard of the pack, the security, not to mention the family, and jumped on board with both feet. Bri lends a hand sometimes, but really she’s so busy with our own little ones right now that she doesn’t have much time to do so.
I heard the door and looked over, somewhat surprised to see Armond walk in. Bri smiled at him, and he smiled back. He went to the bar, bent over it, and grabbed a handful of her hair, kissing her quite thoroughly. She just playfully shoved him away and went to go and get him a drink.
“Did you and your dad get done with all of the inventory?” He nodded.
He’d gone back to work a little while ago, wanting to help his dad. The store had been shut for a bit while all of the bullshit was hitting the fan, but Derek had opened it back up as soon as Dekon was dead and all of that was handled. Armond had waited for about a month and then felt he needed to go back and help his dad. I had dragged my feet for a month after that, but knew I needed to get back to work as well.
“Yeah, we wanted to see what we might need to pick up from that estate sale that is happening in a couple of days. We need to make sure we don’t have too many of the same kind of items. Like no use having ten chests of drawers or eight desks or what have you.” I nodded, although I was absolutely clueless about what he was talking about, in all honesty. I always had, as far as the antique business he and Derek owned.
“Nicole still wanted to see if she could find a crib that she liked, so if you find one of those, pick it up for her.” He nodded.
Nicole had started working with Sean, and he was teaching her all he knew, which was a hell of a lot. He loved having her with him in the office, and since Bishop shared that particular office, it was a good way for them to spend more time together. As a mate who hated to be away from Bri, I completely understood the struggle. They had found out they were having a boy, and Bri, Selenia, and Samaria were trying to plan a baby shower for her.
Armond had stuck around and hung out with us for the rest of the evening. Now, we were cleaning up and getting ready to lock up and go home. Once we were all done, we headed out the back door to throw the garbage away. The second we cleared the door, I saw Bri’s shield spring to life and looked around.
“You have got to be fucking kidding me.” I saw where Bri was looking and had to roll my eyes.
We still had hunters who messed with us from time to time. Right now, there were about five of them standing there, and they had guns as well as swords. Bri looked at both of us, smiling.
“Does anyone have deja vu? They do know that they are stupid, right?” I shook my head and laughed
I guess it’s all come full circle. “So, do you still think this is the Twilight Zone, baby?” I smiled at her.
“It’s always the twilight zone, love. Only now, I’m part of the Twilight Zone.” With that, she rushed the closest hunter and grabbed his sword. Armond and I were right behind her. Our life with this woman was so fucking sweet, and I would love her and cherish our life forever.
The End
