Chapter Two Hundred and Ten.
Chapter Two Hundred and Ten.
Ember's POV
Three months later.
“I need him to stop telling me not to work at the garage.” I murmured as I continued what I was doing. Charlie and Gwen nodded their heads like they understood what I was saying. I looked at both of them and I knew they didn't. They had this look on their faces that said it all.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” I grumbled.
They bursted into laughter then.
“You are so hilarious Chile. I feel like you still don't know the kind of person you're in love with. That man is a control freak. But in a good way. He wants to have his way every single time. Even though I agree with him this time around though. Don't you think it's high time you stopped working in the garage?” She asked me and I shook my head.
“Not you too babe. I love this place. I love working on cars and bikes. It's my passion. I don't know any other thing than this. It's my dream.” I said. I could see understanding seep into her gaze.
“Alright then. If it's like that. Have you let him know about it?” Charles asked this time around.
“Not exactly. We've not really had a conversation about it.” I said.
“Well, that's what y'all need to do now.”
I should tell him how much I love working here. In his mind, he thinks that I'm still working here because I need the money. And it's not even like that. The amount sitting in my bank account right now, I don't know if I would be able to spend it all in a lifetime. He made sure of that even though I didn't agree with his methods.
He made sure that I was set. He said it's not about the money, but he just wants me to feel safe and that I can do whatever I want with the money. He even said if one day I decided that I wanted to leave him, I could do so without fearing for my financials.
That was sweet of him to do and I really appreciated that fact.
My life has been going well recently. Smoothly. Too smoothly for comfort. But I have come to terms with it that I can have a good life too without anything interfering with it.
He's like a comfort to my hard life.
“There you go again. Day dreaming about your husband with a smile on your face.” Charlie said, tweaking his fingers together in my face and I laughed.
“Well, that's not my fault exactly. He makes every single thing about himself memorable.” I shrugged. And immediately I said those words, my palms went to my mouth to cover it. But then, they already heard.
“Oh please. You don't have to boast about your man's sexual prowess in front of us. I have my man too.” Gwen said, a blush rising from her neck and I laughed. She and Alex are so adorable to look at.
“Sorry. For being the single one in the bunch.” I said to him and he snipped.
Asher and I have been going at it like rabbits since I could come to the level of having sex normally. It took a couple of weeks for me to be able to open up to him completely. He made sure that I didn't feel any pressure at all. And by the time we did it first, I was the one who initiated it myself.
Since that first time, it all just started to go well. I didn't think that I would want to willingly have sex with someone until him. The first time I set my eyes on him, he stirred something deep inside of me that I can't place my hands on.
His parents were absolutely so sweet to me. His mother to be precise. She dotes over me every time we go over to their place for dinner. And his younger sister is so cool too. I apologized to them for what my father and Loretta had done to them over and over until his father stopped me from doing it saying that I was not my father.
When he agreed that Asher and I could be in a relationship, I was so elated. I thought it would be a big deal given the history between us. His mother had kind of been on board since the first time she saw me.
I shook my head and stopped the train of thoughts that was coming to my head. I needed to get some things done.
I bent down to pick a part of an engine that I was working on. As soon as I stood up, my head went off. I tried to grab unto something that I could hold on to steady myself, but there was nothing around.
“Ember!” I heard different people calling my name as my head was ringing too at the same time. My eyes swirled. I could not focus on anything.
My body collided with a warm body before I hit the ground.
