Chapter Two Hundred and Two.
Chapter Two Hundred and Two.
Ember's POV
“Thank you.” I said to the customer that was leaving who came from Evermore.
“No thank you. You have no idea what I've gone through already trying to find someone who can fix this particular type of Harley. Thank you very much.” The older man appreciated and zoomed out of the garage.
“Aww…that was so cute to watch.” Charlie mouthed loudly.
“Stop sneaking up on me you idiot.” I scolded lightly.
“Not my fault you can't hear my light steps.” He said and I rolled my eyes.
“I'm leaving. You'll close up right?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yes boss. See yah tomorrow and go easy on your man too.” He wiggled his eyebrows and I stifled a laugh.
“Don't be silly.” I said and walked off.
Instead of going to my place upstairs, I walked back and went directly to Asher's house which was behind the club. A whole ass house on its own. He's allowed me to come here and he said I can show up whenever I want to.
Thankfully it's evening and people won't notice me going in. Although most people here in the club know that I was going out with him. He made sure he allowed every single person to know that I was off limits and all of that.
I've not been able to reach him all day and I figured that he might be at home since his bike was out front. Even his cars were in.
I used the code to the door as I entered. The house was silent, but I could hear him talking upstairs. He must be in his room then. I walked gently and quietly so as not to alert him.
When I got closer, I slowed.
“You need to stop this dad. That's not happening. Get that idea out of your mind that I'm going to end things with her. You better come up with another way to end this. You started it.” He said and I froze.
It's definitely about me right? I mean, he's not seeing any other person. Which means that his father knows about me.
“Raoul Vale is your issue. Not mine. You can't project your issue over to me. You killed her father. Not me. You can't expect me to kill her too because of your insecurities.” He snapped angrily.
He lost me there. What the hell is going on right now? Nothing is making any single sense. What my mother said then started to ring in my ears.
How did he know the name of my father? Though my mother never said it out loud, I knew that was who my father was. I don't know anything after that. But after what I just heard now, I'm sure that Asher knows my father and his father knows mine more than I thought. Killed?
How?
These things are not adding up. So instead of pondering on it further, I left the house feeling disoriented and called the one person I know who should have an answer to all of my questions.
She picked up after the fourth ring.
“What do you want?” She snapped angrily.
“Who is my father and how is he related to Asher Cross?” I asked not to waste a single time. Not like I was interested in talking to her in the first place.
She broke into a fit of laughter that made me have a cold feet. It was though the more she laughed, the more I felt things crawling down my back. She has something down her sleeves.
“So, now you have decided to be involved?” She sneered after she finished.
“Answer the question mother. Why did you say not to be close with them? What are you not telling me?” I snapped. I'm done with her endless games.
“I didn't know Mr Cross would be this fast in telling his son about the information I told him. But that was very fast of him.” She mused.
“What are you talking about mother?”
“Drop the mother thing. I was never your mother. Let's start with that first.” She said in a bored tone. A gust of wind hit me because I was standing outside the house of Asher, only a few feet away in the corner.
“What?” I asked.
“I know you're slow, but not this slow. I'm. Not. Your. Mother. There. Since you wanted me to spell it out to you.” She sing songed. “Let me tell you a story.” Oh God. Something tells me that I won't like whatever she wants to talk to me about.
“Sometimes back, I was a young and stupid woman who was in love with your father. Raoul was the man of my dreams. I do every single thing he tells me to do. No matter what. And you know how the Mafia is. Illegal things. I was at his beck and call.” She said. This time around, her voice was so clear. Clearer than I've heard her talk in years. No slur, nothing. My father was a mafia person?
“Then instead of him marrying me, making me his Donna, he went ahead and he married your mother out of a quest for more power. He was madly in love with her. Or obsessed. That was it. She hated him. But he loved her. I was mad. Livid. I almost went insane myself. After everything I did for him, only for him to leave me and marry your delicate flower of a mother. She got pregnant. Every attempt of me to poison her failed.” She said and I gasped.
“What??” my head is swirling fr
om the amount of information that has been given to me right now.
