Chapter Two Hundred and One.

Chapter Two Hundred and One.
Asher's POV

The silence in the room was deafening. My father and I have had issues and run-ins before this. A lot has given down. But this particular scene was unfamiliar to me. I don't know what this is, but I'm not backing down from him.

His breathing was heavy, while I was as calm on the outside at least.

“Break off whatever you have going on. You can't be in a relationship with her.” he said, sitting down in his chair like I was obligated to do what he just said.

“That's not happening. If your reason for calling me here is because you want to talk down on her and make me leave her, that shit is not happening. So I will take my leave now.” I started to leave his office when he stopped me.

“Sit the fuck down. You can't leave in the middle of a conversation.” He snapped.

“Not one that is not going my way.” I said and turned back to face him. I looked at him properly since I entered this office like I would see the answer to the reason why he was so against me being with her.

“And you call yourself a business man. The President. Sit the fuck down and listen to me.” He said in an attempt to jab me. I sat back down calmly, folding my hands on the table.

“Go on.” I tilted my head.

“There are other women available for you to go out with if you're so eager to be in a relationship. Ones that will worship the ground you walk on. Not her. Never her.” He said. One thing I noticed well is that, anytime he wants to speak about Ember, his voice tightens like there is something there he is not talking about. Sometimes more like he was hiding something big away from me. And I know it.

“What will your wife think when she hears what you just said? I thought you married for love. What's this all about?”

“Are you telling me you love her right now?” He asked incredulously.

“Is that the question I'm asking you?”

“Answer me!”

“What if I said yes? That I love her and I will want to spend the rest of my life with her if she would accept me? She's too good for me but I will pursue her either way. So, what?”

“Oh God. This is not happening. Do you even know who she is?!” He exclaimed. I've never seen my father so out of it.

“Tell me then. Let me hear the a ridiculous reason for me not to pursue the girl I really like. Hell, I love! How is my love life. Not your business.” I growled in his face. My hands were on the table now and I was almost lounging at him.

He stayed silent again before he opened his mouth.

“She's not who you think she is. She's an enemy of the family.” He said. That didn't make a single sense.

“Can you explain yourself further? I know every single enemy that this family has made. And I ran a background check on her. She's not related to this life at all.” I gritted through my teeth.

“That's where you're wrong. Your check was not enough. And you don't know all the enemies of the family. Well, I kept this particular one away from you.” His voice was calmer now which made me feel more on the edge. There was something he was about to say that I would not like at all.

“When your mother was pregnant with you, your girlfriend's father, Raoul Vale, kidnapped her. Before then, he was the one that caused the death of my sister Freya. Raped her to death with his men. In my attempt to avenge her, he got to know and then he kidnapped my wife, your mother, Asher. I was not about to sit on my ass and do nothing about it. In short, I bombed the warehouse they were in after I took my wife out of the place which caused his death. She must know this story and wants to hurt you. I won't allow her to do that. You're blinded by how much you like her right now and you're not seeing straight at all.” He said.

I mused on what he said. There is no way she knows about all of these things father is saying.

“She does not know. There is no way she does. I brought her to the garage myself. Us meeting was not planned. It was a coincidence.” I said.

“The first race y'all had? Then you met her after your bike spoiled? Do you call all of those suspicious meetings coincidences?” He said.

“Father, I understand your concerns, but take it from me that there is nothing to be suspicious of with Ember. She does not even remember what happened to her when she was younger.”

“And you don't find all of these things suspicious Asher?!”

“No!” I snapped angrily. I'm not going to allow him to mess with my head. That's what father does if he wants to get onto someone's head.

“I'm not done though. What do you think about the new nameless gang that you've been chasing down for ages now?” He asked in a cold tone.

“You know?”

“Of course I do. No matter how much you try to hide things away from me, I still get to know them.” He said and I felt my fists start to tighten in anger.

“What the actual fuck dad? I told you to stay out of my business.” I was fuming mad. I don't know why I feel mad any time he does something like this. It makes me feel like he does not trust me at all.

Makes me feel like I am not capable of holding the fort down without him.

“It will delight you to know that the people that are after you are from her father's gang. From what I have been able to gather, they want revenge from what has happened before. You think this is still a coincidence, son?”
