Chapter 292 What Kind of Woman Would Have the Incredible Fortune to Marry Him?
Jeremy nodded. "Yes. There are also two more appointments this morning... should I cancel those as well?"
Without hesitation, Alexander replied, "Move them to tomorrow afternoon."
Jeremy said, "Understood."
While making calls to various departments to coordinate the schedule changes, Jeremy hurried to follow Alexander into the elevator.
Alexander rode the elevator down, and as soon as he stepped out, he saw the elevator lobby packed with people.
It was rush hour, and the elevator area was completely crowded. Except for the executive elevator that led directly to the CEO's office, all the other dozen elevators were overloaded and jam-packed.
Employees looked frustrated—some stared at their phones, others wolfed down sandwiches from the convenience store.
Among the crowd, Alexander's six-foot-three frame stood out prominently.
Grace immediately noticed him.
Why was he coming downstairs?
She had come to work with Alexander today. As usual, he drove her to the side entrance, and she insisted they separate there—she would enter through the side door while he used the main entrance.
Grace lifted her wrist to check her watch.
At this time, he should be conducting the morning executive meeting. Seeing him moving with such urgency suggested something important had come up.
"Mr. Hayes..."
"That's Mr. Hayes..."
Employees whispered among themselves.
Since this was peak commute time, the elevator area was at its most crowded. Alexander always arrived at the office early, so despite working in the same building as headquarters staff, very few employees ever got to see him in person.
If they hadn't witnessed him stepping out of the executive elevator with their own eyes, they never would have recognized that this young, strikingly handsome man was the CEO who controlled all of Crest Corporation!
Everyone momentarily forgot what they were doing, staring in amazement at Alexander's retreating figure.
It wasn't until Jeremy followed Alexander out of sight that the crowd erupted in excited chatter.
"Was that really Mr. Hayes?"
"I've been here five years—first time I've ever seen Mr. Hayes in person!"
"He's so gorgeous! Even more handsome than movie stars!"
"He's so tall—has to be over six feet, right? Tall, handsome, from a wealthy family, highly educated, gorgeous and rich—what kind of woman could possibly be good enough for him?"
"I heard Mr. Hayes is divorced. He was married once before, had a son with his wife, then got divorced."
"If it were me, I'd be willing to have ten kids with him! I wouldn't even need a marriage certificate—just the chance to have his babies!"
The female colleagues fantasized dreamily.
The male colleagues also watched with admiring and reverent expressions.
Grace frowned thoughtfully, glancing at Anna beside her, who was equally excited, "Grace! Did you see that? Mr. Hayes is so handsome! He walked right past me—I caught a whiff of his cologne! He has such refined taste in fragrance—not too strong, not too light, just perfect!"
Grace said, "I... I saw..."
She could see that face anytime after work if she wanted—she could even hold him close all night if she felt like it. Perhaps because she saw him so often, she didn't find it quite so shocking.
But Alexander certainly did have a very attractive face.
Those excellent genes had definitely been passed down to Liam and Max.
She found herself curious about where he was going—what could be more important than the company's morning meeting?
Anna couldn't help but interrupt her thoughts again, "Grace, what kind of woman do you think would be lucky enough to marry him someday?"
Grace was completely stumped, "I have no idea..."
Anna said, "I'm so incredibly jealous!"
Grace was confused, "Jealous of who?"
Of Alexander?
Who wouldn't be jealous of him?
But Anna shook her head, "I'm jealous of his wife!"
Grace laughed despite herself, "He's not married yet!"
Anna said, "I'm jealous of his future wife! More than jealous—I'm green with envy! Such a perfect man should stay single forever rather than end up with some other woman!"
Him staying single for life would be the greatest fairness to all women in the world!
Grace said guiltily, "No matter how handsome he is, he's still just a person like the rest of us!"
But Anna seemed completely starstruck, "I just heard him talking to his assistant—he has that low, sexy voice I love! And I saw him adjust his tie—his fingers are so long and elegant, with such beautiful bone structure!"
She grabbed Grace's hand excitedly, her face flushed like Alexander's personal fan.
Grace replied halfheartedly, "Beautiful... yes, beautiful..."
Anna pressed, "Don't you think he's incredibly handsome? He's even better looking than those domineering CEOs in TV dramas! I really want to transfer to the executive secretarial pool!"
Grace suddenly remembered Alexander's description of working in the secretarial pool and kindly warned, "I heard the executive secretaries have to put up with a lot of difficult situations."
But Anna declared loudly, "I'd be willing to endure anything! Just to see him once every day would make it all worthwhile!"
"Alright then..." Grace was completely defeated by Anna's obvious superficiality.

Hayes Manor
The car came to a stop.
Alexander stepped out.
He had just walked into the living room when he saw Mary sitting leisurely on the sofa, sipping tea.
Samantha was beside her, giving her a shoulder massage and leg rub.
Alexander looked around—he saw neither William nor Emily. He casually adjusted his suit sleeves, fingering the cufflinks.
Mary said, "Alexander, what brings you home? Is something wrong?"
Alexander looked at her and asked coolly, "Where is she?"
Mary remained composed, saying lightly, "You mean your father? He's busy with something."
Alexander sat down across from Mary and said coldly, "I'm asking about Emily."
Mary pressed her lips together and said nothing.
Samantha kept her eyes downcast, focusing solely on massaging Mary's shoulders, staying out of the conversation.
Alexander said, "Grandmother, where is she?"
Mary replied irritably, "Why are you asking me for her? She's not here."
Alexander said, "I was told that you personally went to pick her up."
Mary made a sarcastic comment, "Your subordinates don't mind their own business—they're too busy meddling in irrelevant matters."
Alexander slightly raised his chin, having no patience for small talk with Mary. He directly and bluntly stated, "So you brought her back to the Hayes family estate?"
Mary knew she couldn't hide it from him forever, and she hadn't intended to keep playing dumb anyway, so she simply admitted it, "Yes, I brought her here. She called me saying you wanted to hurt the babies in her womb. I was afraid something terrible would happen, so I brought her here."
After a pause, Mary earnestly lectured him, "Alexander, don't you think you're being a bit too heartless toward her? No matter what, she's carrying your children. How can you bear to do this?"
Alexander couldn't help but smile. "Grandmother, are you planning to protect her?"
