I’ve never caught your child

I’ve never caught your child
"Since you've been around Shane for a while, you must know what he likes to eat, right? Can you tell me?" Lydia asked with a smile.
Henry, however, grew wary.
She addressed him by his first name, not as President Robinson.
"President Robinson is married, as you know, to Miss Norris, the lady you just saw. Why are you so interested in President Robinson's preferences?" Henry was no fool; he could tell Lydia had an ulterior motive the moment she asked.
He deliberately emphasized "President Robinson" as he spoke.
He was trying to remind her that if she worked here, she needed to know her place.
And not overstep her boundaries!
Lydia's voice softened, "I just..."
"If you're here to work, then do your job properly. Don't get involved in unnecessary matters. A young lady should respect herself and not covet a married man!" Henry warned sternly.
With that, he turned and walked away.
Lydia's expression shifted multiple times, the innocent and harmless facade cracking, her eyes glaring at Henry.
She thought he was meddling too much.
He was just an assistant; what right did he have to lecture her?
Her hand, hanging by her side, clenched tightly into a fist.
The desire to become Mrs. Robinson grew even stronger.
She wanted Henry to respectfully call her "Young Mistress"!
As Henry left the company, he drove to the Norris Family Company.
Callie sat in her office, stacks of documents piled high on her desk. She could barely understand them, and many terms were completely foreign to her.
She had never dealt with this kind of knowledge before.
Feeling utterly helpless, she was startled by a sudden knock on the office door. "Come in," she called out.
The secretary opened the door and said, "President Callie, this gentleman is here to see you."
Seeing that it was Henry, Callie immediately stood up and said, "Let him in, you may leave now."
Henry walked in, glanced at the documents on her desk, and said, "You've just joined the company, it must be quite overwhelming, right?"
Callie nodded.
"I can help you for now, but it will only be temporary. Later, I'll assign two reliable people to assist you, teaching you while helping you manage the company," Henry said.
Callie felt a surge of gratitude. "Thank you."
"If you want to thank someone, thank President Robinson. He sent me here. After your father's death, President Robinson had me investigate the Norris Family. Your father was wise and had already dismissed the troublemakers. However, even so, now that you're in charge, you must assert your authority to keep everyone in line," Henry said as he walked to the desk and picked up a document.
Callie lowered her gaze.
Henry was Shane's right-hand man. Without Shane's permission, Henry probably wouldn't have come.
She made a mental note of this favor.
"Your company's business isn't too complicated. I'll teach you," Henry said as he sat down on a chair.
Callie listened attentively, eager to learn.
As the day turned into night, Callie offered, "You've been busy all day. Let me treat you to dinner."
Henry agreed, "Sure."
So, the two of them walked out of the Norris Family Company together. Henry said, "Let's take my car."
He pressed the unlock button.
"Ma'am." Suddenly, a car pulled up by the roadside, and Butler Imani stepped out.
Seeing Butler Imani, Callie's expression tightened. She quickly looked at Henry and said, "Let's postpone dinner. Butler Imani is here; there might be something important."
Henry understood and started his car, driving off on his own.
"Miss Norris, the tasks the master assigned you—there's been no progress at all? I heard you even went to the company to see the Young Master today?" After Henry left, Butler Imani's tone towards Callie changed completely.
Callie said, "I wasn't looking for him, I was looking for Henry..."
"It doesn't matter who you were looking for, the fact is you didn't complete the task the Old Master gave you!" Butler Imani was blunt. "Since you couldn't do it, now the Old Master is handling it himself. All you need to do is help and lead the Young Master there, and your task will be complete."
"Lead him where?"
"Langton Hotel, the top-floor presidential suite," Butler Imani replied.
Callie could hardly believe her ears. Could Old Master Robinson really want Shane and Lydia to end up together like that?
"What, you don't want to?" Butler Imani asked.
Of course, Callie didn't want to. How could she send the man she loved to another woman's bed?
"Have you forgotten the promise you made to the Old Master?" Butler Imani reminded her. He seemed to suddenly remember something and added, "Oh, I forgot to tell you, the Old Master has already processed your divorce papers with the Young Master. Don't blame the Old Master; it was you who first betrayed his trust. Now, I hope you can be sensible and not break your word to him again."
Callie's expression froze for a moment.
It seemed that money could indeed make the impossible possible.
Back when Shane refused to marry, Old Master Robinson managed to get the marriage certificate anyway. Now, even though Shane didn't want a divorce, they still managed to get the divorce papers without him being present.
There was no denying it—having money and power made all the difference.
"I understand," Callie said, knowing she had broken her promise first.
"The Master hopes you will be obedient..."
Before Butler Imani could finish his sentence, Callie's phone suddenly rang.
She answered, and Caitlin's tearful voice came through, "Callie, something terrible has happened. Leif has been taken!"
"What?" Callie's face turned pale, and her voice trembled, "Who took him?"
Locking eyes with Butler Imani, Callie asked, "Was it you?"
"The Master wants you to be obedient. He'll take care of the child for a few days," Butler Imani replied calmly.

Steadying herself, Callie spoke to Caitlin, "Mom, don't worry. I know what's going on."
After hanging up the phone, she turned to Butler Imani and growled, "I said I'll do it. Now give me back my child!"
"Complete the task the master assigned to you, and your child will be returned. If you mess up, you can't blame the master!" Butler Imani threatened.
Callie was trembling with anger. "I need to see him. How dare he take my child? The child is so young. If anything happens, I will fight you all to the end!"
"If you don't want anything to happen to your child, you'd better get the master's task done quickly!" Butler Imani said impatiently.
Callie wanted to say more, but her lips quivered. She knew that even if she went to confront Old Master Robinson, he wouldn't return her child.
He had taken her child to ensure she would obediently complete his task.
Even if she didn't want to, she had no choice but to comply.
"So, if I lure Shane over, you'll return my child?" Callie asked.
"They must engage in a relationship," Butler Imani said.
Callie let out a cold laugh. "Do you expect me to strip them both and tie them together? Even if I did, do you think that would make them engage in a relationship? Isn't this request a bit too much?"
"You are a doctor. You should know there are certain drugs that can make people lose their senses. If you trick the Young Master into taking them, everything else will fall into place. For the sake of your child, I believe you will do it, won't you?" Butler Imani said.
Callie was stunned.
"I'll be waiting for your good news," Butler Imani added before getting into the car and driving away.
Callie stood by the roadside, lost in thought for a long time.
The wind tousled her hair.
She didn't know how much time had passed, but her legs began to feel numb. Slowly, she walked to the stage and hailed a cab back to the villa.
Shane hadn't returned yet, so she decided to go to his office.
Shane was in the middle of a video conference with the head of the overseas branch. When his secretary informed him that Callie had arrived, he ended the meeting and told the secretary, "Let her in."

Callie walked in. "President Robinson."
At the sound of this title, Shane's expression instantly turned serious.
Callie had no intention of flattering him at this moment and didn't notice his darkened face. She spoke mechanically, "Are you free tonight?"
Shane leaned back in his chair, his tone indifferent. "Why?"
"I booked a room at the hotel." Her hand at her side clenched and unclenched repeatedly before she could speak calmly. "Langton Hotel, top floor..."
"Callie." Shane Robinson interrupted her before she could finish. "What are you talking about?"
He suppressed the excitement bubbling inside him, trying to maintain a facade of indifference.
Callie inviting him? How could he not be thrilled?
But for the sake of his pride, he didn't show it in front of her.
Callie asked, "So, you're not free today, are you?"
"I am." His response was so quick that it betrayed his true feelings.
Callie desperately wished he would say he wasn't free.
But she was afraid he might refuse.
If he refused, things could go wrong, and what if her child was in danger?
Her heart was torn with conflict and pain.
"I'll go wait for you. You go ahead and finish up," she said, turning away. Just then, Shane stood up and walked over, saying, "We'll go together."
Callie lowered her head.
"You came to find me, and now you're shy?" he grabbed her hand.
He knew he was hopeless when it came to her.
As long as she made the first move, he would drop everything to accommodate her.
"When did you become so bold?" he asked, a slight smile playing at the corners of his lips.
She had never been so straightforward in inviting him before.
Whether she was shy and reserved or passionate and bold, he liked it all.
As long as it was her, she had his heart.
Callie asked him, "Do you still have our marriage certificate from when we got married?"
Shane's grip on her hand tightened slightly. He had opposed the marriage at the time, so everything had been arranged by the old man.
In fact, he had never even seen their marriage certificate.
"Why are you asking about that now?"
Callie smiled and said, "No reason, just curious."
Stepping out of the company building, Callie got into the car as Shane drove her to a restaurant. "Join me for a bite," he said.
Callie responded with a soft "Mm-hmm."
It was a private dining restaurant where Shane was a VIP, complete with his own exclusive room and dishes that couldn't be found elsewhere.
The food was a feast for the senses, but it failed to stir Callie's appetite.
"Not hungry?" Shane asked, placing some food on her plate.
"I've already eaten. You go ahead," Callie replied, not touching her chopsticks.
Shane noticed something was off with her mood but didn't dwell on it. "Are you tired? If you trust me, I can have someone handle all the company matters for you..."
"No need. My father left it to me, so I should do my best. Besides, I need to keep an eye on Myron; otherwise, I won't feel at ease," she said, forcing a small smile.
"Didn't you say you didn't like that brother of yours?" Shane asked, taking a sip of his soup.
Callie pressed her lips together. "My dad entrusted him to me. I have to take care of him."
Shane didn't say more.
Deep down, Callie still had familial feelings for Rafael. Otherwise, she wouldn't have taken care of the son he had with his mistress after his death, nor would she have taken over the company he left behind.
Callie was actually quite sentimental, isn’t she?
After dinner, Shane offered to take her home.
When she realized they were heading back to the villa, Callie panicked. "Didn't I say we should go to a hotel?"
Shane chuckled, "Isn't our home better?"
"No, let's go to a hotel," Callie blurted out.
Shane turned to look at her. "You..."
"We're married. I think we need to spice things up occasionally.
Don't you agree?" Callie quickly interjected.
"Something's off with you today." Despite her constant attempts to be affectionate, Shane still felt something was amiss.
Initially, he was swept away by Callie's sudden warmth. But now, thinking it over, she had been quite distant before. Her sudden enthusiasm and the invitation to a hotel didn’t add up.
"Is it wrong for me to want to thank you?" Callie countered.
"Hmm?"
"Henry came to the office today. He taught me a lot and helped me make many decisions. I know it's all because of you that he put in so much effort. I wanted to thank you," she explained.
"Because of this?" Shane Robinson's voice dropped slightly. So, she wasn't here because she liked him, loved him, or wanted to be close to him, but just to repay him for helping her?
"Hah—" The laugh that escaped his throat was cold and dull. "So, you're offering yourself to repay me?"
The word "offering" deeply stung Callie's heart.
She swallowed the bitterness and leaned against his shoulder willingly. "I like you."
Shane suddenly pulled the car over to the side of the road and stopped.
It seemed that her words were too powerful!
They made him freeze for a few seconds.
"Callie Norris," his voice was low, "do you know what you're saying?"
She replied, "I know."
Everything she did today was beyond her control, except for this sentence, which came from her heart.
She lifted her head. "Today, I am doing this willingly."
Shane felt that in front of her, he was no longer himself. Just one word from her could sway his emotions.
His joy and anger were tied to her every expression.
"You..." Shane sighed, both helpless and doting.
He thought, he was truly falling for her!
He started the car and drove to the hotel.
Once inside the room, Callie pushed him gently. "You go take a shower first."
Shane wrapped his arm around her waist, a playful glint in his eyes. Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, "Can't wait, huh?"
Callie lowered her gaze and urged him, "Hurry up."
Shane planted a kiss on her forehead and murmured, "Wait for me."
"Okay," Callie replied.
As Shane headed to the bathroom, the smile on Callie's face vanished the moment the bathroom door closed.
She walked over to the table where a bottle of red wine was placed. Reaching for it, she hesitated for a moment. But thinking of her child, she quickly opened the bottle and poured in the contents of a small packet of powder.
The powder wasn't something she had prepared; it was left by Butler Imani, and the wine was also pre-arranged.
After completing her task, she sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for Shane to come out.
Half an hour later, Shane emerged from the bathroom, wearing a bathrobe and drying his hair. "Your turn," he said.
Callie stood up and handed him the glass of wine. "I ordered a bottle of red wine. Haven't tried it yet."
Shane took the glass and said, "The drinks here are never bad."
Maybe it was because Callie had poured it, so Shane didn't think much of it.
"Wait here for a bit, I'm going downstairs to get something," she said as she headed for the door.
Shane grabbed her arm, "What are you going to buy?"
"You'll know when I bring it back," Callie smiled, gently pulling his hand away. "Wait for me."
She walked out of the room without looking back.
As the door closed, Callie's hand trembled slightly on the doorknob.
She lifted her head and walked towards the elevator. Just as the elevator doors opened and she was about to step in, Lydia stepped out.
Lydia was dressed in a stunning red dress, her makeup meticulously done, making her look absolutely captivating. It was clear she had put a lot of effort into her appearance.
Seeing Callie, Lydia showed no surprise. She knew everything about today. Thinking about how she was about to win Shane, a smug smile appeared on her face. "I'm the one Grandpa Robinson approves of, and I'll be the next Mrs. Robinson. Thanks for stepping aside."
Callie didn't respond and walked straight into the elevator. She pressed the close button, but Lydia wasn't done yet. She blocked the door, "Grandpa Robinson can't stand you now, so you'd better be smart and stay away from Shane."
"Shane has a bad temper. You'd better think about how to please him. What's the point of telling me all this nonsense?" Callie brushed off the hand and closed the elevator door.
Stepping out of the hotel, she wandered aimlessly along the street.
The lights were dazzling, and the neon signs flickered, but in her eyes, they had all lost their color.
The weather wasn't cold anymore, yet she felt a chill.
A chill in her heart.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
After composing her emotions, she walked to the bus stage to hail a cab, intending to go to the Robinson Family's old mansion to ask Old Master Robinson for Leif.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist!
She screamed in terror!
"Help—mmph—"
Her mouth was covered, and she struggled wildly!
But the person behind her was too strong, dragging her into the car.
In her struggle, she saw the driver—it was Henry.
Her pupils contracted sharply, and when she turned her head, she saw Shane.
W-why is it him?
Shouldn't he be at the hotel with Lydia right now?
And he had drunk that glass of red wine; he should be drugged by now!
She stopped struggling and cautiously said, "You..."
Outside the car window, colorful neon lights flashed rapidly, casting fleeting glows inside the car. Shane sat in the shadows, his expression unreadable. "Callie Norris, you gave me to another woman?"
His voice was as deep and cold as an ancient well, echoing with a chilling and profound darkness.
Callie gasped, "I didn't mean to!"
Shane had no interest in hearing her excuses.
She did it, and that was that.
If she dared to do it, she should dare to face the consequences!
Shane remained silent, making Callie's heart race with anxiety. "I..."
At that moment, Henry drove the car into the company's underground garage. Once the car was parked, he got out and left!
The garage was pitch dark, shrouded in blackness.
"How did you find out?" Callie asked.
Shane remained silent, the quiet so profound that their breathing was the only sound.
Callie knew Shane's temper. He must be furious, yet his breathing was so calm and steady that she couldn't tell if he had drunk the wine.
"You didn't drink that glass of red wine, did you?" she asked.
"Callie, do you really want me to sleep with another woman that badly? Afraid I wouldn't agree? So you drugged me and tricked me into drinking it?"
In the darkness, Callie tried to see his face. "If I said I didn't do it willingly, would you believe me?"
"Heh~"
His cold laugh rumbled from his throat, "Callie, do you think I would still believe you?"
Before she could respond, he pinned her down, his body hovering above hers, his eyes devoid of warmth.
It was anger, frustration, and rage!
She had tried to give him away!
What did she think he was?!
"You don't need to waste your efforts drugging me! You could seduce me just as easily!"
With those words, Shane tore open Callie's collar.
The air inside the car was stifling. She didn't feel cold, only the sound of heavy breathing filled the space.
Her throat was tight and dry. When she tried to speak, her voice came out strained and painful, "Please, don't do this..."
"Don't do what?" he asked with a laugh.
Even though he was laughing, and she couldn't see his face clearly, she could feel the chill in his words!
"I'll give you one chance. Tell me, why did you do it?"
Callie blinked. If this plan didn't work, would her child be in danger?
Old Master Robinson was determined to make her leave Shane.
For now, he had only taken her child.
If she continued to be entangled with Shane and refused to separate, what would Old Master Robinson do to her child?
She didn't dare to think further.
"I have nothing to explain. This was all part of my plan. You don't know, do you? I even begged Grandpa to help me get a divorce from you..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Shane grabbed her by the throat, and then her clothes were torn apart...
She was pinned down on the seat.
To humiliate her, Shane twisted her body into one shameful position after another.
Callie didn't resist; she only cried out occasionally when the pain became too much.
The car windows were fogged up with thick steam.
Sweat covered both their bodies.
Callie's hair was plastered to her face.
Again and again, it seemed endless. Callie couldn't take it anymore. With a sob in her voice, she pleaded, "Do I have to die for you to let me go?"
Suddenly, she started laughing.
It was a sad, almost hysterical laugh.
Shane Robinson's arm wrapped around her neck from behind, gripping her jaw. "What are you laughing at?"
He whispered into Callie's ear, "Do you remember the man you were with on our wedding night?"
Of course, Callie remembered. Her lips trembled, her voice hoarse. "How could I forget... He was my first. On our wedding night, I cheated on you..."
"That night, it was me." Shane yanked her hair, forcing her to look at him. "Your first man was me."
Callie's body shook with disbelief. Her mind went blank, drained of all thought.
She sat there, stunned and dazed.
"I stayed with Belinda Ayers because she claimed it was her that night. I took care of her because of that. But you took her place, didn't you?" Shane released her. "I've always been afraid you'd hate me for causing you to lose our child, so I never told you. But you kept betraying me, Callie. Do you really think I can't live without you?"
He buttoned up his shirt. "You want a divorce? I'll give you one."
With that, he pushed open the car door and stepped out.
Click.
The car door shut.
Callie Norris jolted awake.
"Shane Robinson?"
Was it him that night?
Dragging her aching body, she crawled out of the car, only to realize she was completely naked.
She hastily grabbed a piece of clothing to cover her chest and shouted, "Shane, come back!"
The underground parking garage was too dark!
Her shout echoed back at her, and the emergency lights flickered on. She couldn't see Shane anywhere.
He was gone.
Callie laughed, but soon tears streamed down her face.
She wasn't a promiscuous woman.
She had only ever been with one man!
Only Shane .
The man she liked, the man she wanted to be with!
She sniffled hard, trying to hold back her tears.
Ignoring the pain in her body, she quickly put on some clothes. She had to find Old Master Robinson and tell him that the child wasn't illegitimate—it was Shane's!
Once dressed, she stepped out of the car. Her legs gave out, and she nearly fell, but she managed to grab the car door just in time.
She hastily tied her messy hair into a ponytail. The garage was quiet at night, and the sound of her footsteps echoed in the empty space.
Leaving the garage, she walked to the roadside to hail a cab.
At the top floor of the skyscraper, in the CEO's office...
Shane stood by the floor-to-ceiling window. The lights along the riverbank cast a faint glow on his face, reflecting back and forth, making his features appear shadowy and indistinct.
Knock, knock—
The door was rapped on.
"Come in."
Henry pushed the door open and entered. "President Robinson."
Shane had one hand in his pocket while the other adjusted his collar. "Go to the surveillance room and delete the footage from the underground garage. And from now on, there's no need to go to the Norris Family anymore. Tell Mrs. Ford to throw out all of her belongings. I don't want to see any trace of her."
Henry lowered his head. "President Robinson..."
"Just do it." Shane cut him off, unwilling to hear any words of persuasion.
He had thought that Callie would eventually see his sincerity.
But the truth was, her heart was made of stone. No matter what he did, that woman refused to like him.
She only ever pushed him towards other women.
"Is it because of Lydia?" Henry couldn't help but ask.
Lydia was the one Shane had ordered him to drive away.
And then, she was the one he had arranged to bring back.
Shane must have had a special reason for her; otherwise, he wouldn't have made an exception.
Mentioning Lydia, Shane remembered and said, "Tomorrow, go to the old house and bring that jade pendant. Give it to Lydia..."
"President Robinson, that jade pendant is very important to you," Henry said, unable to stay calm. Was Shane really falling for someone else?
Had his interest in Callie already faded?
And now he had his eyes on Lydia?
"It's no longer important. It's time it returned to its rightful owner," Shane said calmly.
Henry understood. "That jade pendant belongs to Lydia?"
Shane didn't respond.
His silence was an acknowledgment.
He knew Lydia had been deliberately arranged by Old Master Robinson. From the moment Lydia appeared, it had all been part of Old Master Robinson's plan.
However, the matter of the jade pendant was something he hadn't anticipated; it was part of Old Master Robinson's scheme.
One had to admit, Butler Imani's idea was quite clever.
At the very least, this matter hadn't allowed Shane to guess all of their intentions.
...
Robinson Family Estate.
Callie got out of the car and walked straight inside.
Today, Butler Imani wasn't around, so she went directly to find Old Master Robinson.
Old Master Robinson was still awake, studying his chess pieces under the lamp.
When Callie suddenly barged in, he found it odd. "Why are you here so late?"
"Give me back my child," she went straight to the point.
This statement left Old Master Robinson stunned. "What did you say?"
"My child, you took him to threaten me into drugging Shane, to push him and Lydia together. Wasn't all of this your doing?" Her voice was icy. "That child is Shane's..."
"I have never taken your child," Old Master Robinson said, putting down his chess piece.
