Help you with what
Help you with what
As she spoke, she noticed Callie holding a tiny baby in her arms. She quickly walked over and asked, "Where did this baby come from?"
Before Callie could answer, she guessed, "Is it Miss Cynthia’s?"
Cynthia glanced at Callie, a faint, gentle smile playing on her lips. "I wish it were. I'm not that lucky."
Mrs. Ford was puzzled. "Then whose is it?"
"It's mine," Callie said.
Mrs. Ford's eyes widened. "Young Mistress... what did you say? Whose child is this?"
Quickly, she thought of something. "Could it be the Master's?"
Callie shook her head. "No."
"What?!" Mrs. Ford was flabbergasted. "If it's not the Master's, then whose is it? Did you have a child with another man?"
Callie didn't deny it. "Yes."
"Callie," a deep, anger-laden voice sounded from behind her.
Callie turned around to see Old Master Robinson standing on the steps at the doorway, leaning on his cane. From his expression, it was clear he had heard Mrs. Ford's words. His face was ashen, and he spoke in a steady, yet stern voice, "Come with me."
After speaking, she walked inside and headed towards Shane's study.
Butler Imani glanced at Callie with a cold look, as if silently accusing her of being ungrateful.
Previously, Old Master Robinson had actually admired Callie and had high hopes for her.
Who would have thought she would turn out to be so—disappointing!
Callie handed the baby to Cynthia and whispered, "Take him back to the room."
Cynthia understood and carefully carried Leif into the room.
Mrs. Ford looked at Callie with concern. "Young Mistress..."
Callie knew she had to face it; it was only a matter of time before Old Master Robinson found out.
Taking a deep breath, she walked into the study, and Butler Imani closed the door behind her.
"Come here," Old Master Robinson commanded sternly.
Callie moved her feet slowly towards the desk.
"Did you really cheat on Shane and betray him?" Old Master Robinson asked.
Even though he already knew about this matter, seeing it with his own eyes made him even more furious.
After all, Callie was supposed to be with Shane. How could he face his eldest son now? How could he face his grandson?
Callie remained silent, which was as good as admitting it!
Old Master Robinson slammed the table in anger!
Bang!
Callie trembled in fear.
This was the first time she had seen Old Master Robinson this furious.
He had always been kind and gentle to her before.
Now, seeing him like this, Callie knew it was because she had made a grave mistake.
"I'm sorry..."
"Sorry? What good is sorry!" Old Master Robinson was breathing heavily with rage.
Butler Imani came over to pat his back and soothe him, saying, "You already knew about this, didn't you? Why get so worked up and harm your health?"
Old Master Robinson knew about it, yes, and he was angry then too. But seeing Callie holding a living, breathing child was not just an insult to Shane; it was a betrayal to him. He had trusted her so much, even helping treat her mother’s illness. In the end, this was how she repaid him.
"You are nothing like your grandfather!" Old Master Robinson still remembered the debt he owed to her grandfather for saving his life.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t be speaking to her so politely now.
"You're no longer fit to stay by Shane's side," Old Master Robinson declared.
Callie knew this too.
But now, her feelings for Shane had grown beyond mere obligation; they had developed into genuine affection.
"Grandpa..."
"Don't call me Grandpa," Old Master Robinson interrupted her. "I agreed to this marriage in the first place, and now I will end it!"
Callie felt a tightness in her chest, as if something was squeezing the air out of her lungs.
"You don't object, do you?" Old Master Robinson noticed her pale face. "Do you want a bastard child to call Shane 'Dad'? Do you think that's possible? Can Shane accept it? Can I accept it?"
Callie realized she hadn't thought things through. She had overlooked one crucial detail.
Shane was the heir to the Robinson Family, a family of immense wealth and influence.
The larger the family, the more cautious they are about bloodlines.
Even if Shane claimed he didn't mind and could treat the child as his own, would Old Master Robinson really allow Shane to raise a child that wasn't biologically related to the Robinson Family?
In an ordinary family, it might not be such a big deal.
But the Robinson Family was a wealthy and powerful clan.
Though there was no throne to inherit, there was certainly a fortune to be passed down.
Looking back now, she realized how naive she had been.
She had only thought about herself and Shane, ignoring many external factors.
She had also overlooked the potential emotional harm that growing up in such an environment could inflict on the child.
She had been selfish, neglecting her own child.
She should provide her child with a stable and comfortable living environment, not place him in such a complicated family.
"I will leave," she said, looking up.
Old Master Robinson was pleased with her attitude. "Since you're being reasonable, I won't make things difficult for you. The marriage certificate between you and Shane was arranged by me, and I can also arrange for your divorce."
"I'll follow Grandpa's arrangements," Callie lowered her head. "You helped save my mother... It's my fault for betraying your trust..."
"There's no need to say more. Things are already this bad, and talking about it won't change anything. I don't want to see that child in the Robinson Family anymore. Also, I need you to do me a favor."
Old Master Robinson's tone was unyielding.
He believed that Callie was at fault in this matter, so it was only right for her to help.
"Go ahead," Callie Norris replied, remembering how Old Master Robinson had once saved her mother's life. She was willing to help him with one thing, hoping it would ease her guilt.
"Shane has a woman named Lydia by his side. I want her to take your place with Shane. But right now, Shane refuses to divorce you. I hope you can make him hate you enough to leave."
"Can we do it another way?" she asked. Even if she had to leave, she didn't want to do it like this.
"Sure," Old Master Robinson agreed readily. "You can help Shane and Lydia get together."
Callie frowned deeply. That was even worse than the first option.
How could she possibly help the man she loved get together with another woman?
"What, can't do it?" Old Master Robinson's voice turned cold.
Callie felt like she was just making excuses.
She didn't truly want to help.
"I think you know Shane's temper very well. Do you really think I have the power to make him do anything? All I can say is that I'll try my best. If I fail, I hope you won't blame me," Callie said, knowing she couldn't keep dodging the responsibility.
She had to repay Old Master Robinson for saving her mother.
Only then would she be free from his grasp.
Old Master Robinson pondered for a moment. "Shane's temper is indeed not something anyone can control. Just do your best."
"And Imani, make sure today's events don't reach Shane's ears," Old Master Robinson instructed.
Imani nodded and went to carry out the order.
Old Master Robinson glanced at Callie. "I also don't want you to tell Shane about our conversation."
"I understand," Callie replied.
Old Master Robinson left, looking satisfied.
Callie, feeling weak, held onto the handrail as she slowly made her way down the stairs.
Cynthia, worried about Callie, rushed over to support her as soon as Old Master Robinson was out of sight. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice full of concern.
Callie shook her head. "I'm fine."
She tried her best to appear composed. "Where's Leif? Is he still crying?"
"I fed him and put him to sleep," Cynthia said, her worry now shifting to Callie. Old Master Robinson had looked displeased earlier, and she feared he might have made things difficult for her.
Callie shook her head. "We need to leave."
"Where to?" Cynthia asked.
In truth, Callie didn't know either...
All she knew was that she had to get Leif out of there.
Cynthia was there to help her.
"Are you really okay, Callie?" Cynthia noticed how pale she looked.
"I feel like I've made so many mistakes..." Callie said softly. The appearance of Old Master Robinson had made many things clear to her.
She had been blinded by her emotions!
She had foolishly believed she could be with Shane, but Leif was an impossible barrier between them. The Robinson family was complicated, and an outsider like Leif could never fit in.
She couldn't let her son suffer.
If she left Leif with the Robinson family, her child would undoubtedly be mistreated!
"What did you do wrong?" Cynthia asked.
"I shouldn't have brought Leif to the Robinson Family. Today, Old Master Robinson was relatively polite to me, probably out of respect for my late grandfather. Otherwise, Leif and I would have been thrown out."
It was her own lack of foresight.
Old Master Robinson wasn't wrong.
Cynthia sighed, unsure how to comfort her. She could only reach out and gently pat her shoulder as a gesture of support.
"I'm fine," Callie said, understanding that the fault lay with her, not Old Master Robinson for making those demands.
It was her own lack of foresight!
Callie found a nice hotel to stay in for the time being.
Cynthia helped her pack and said, "This isn't a long-term solution. Have you thought about where you'll settle down?"
It didn't matter much for adults, but Leif was still young. They couldn't keep moving around without a stable home.
"After I take care of my dad's funeral, I'll buy a house so my mom and Leif have a place to call home," Callie said, sitting on the bed and looking at Leif. "Now that I have Leif, I shouldn't expect anything more from love."
"What nonsense are you talking about? Just because you have a child doesn't mean you can't have love," Cynthia said, feeling that Callie had suddenly become too pessimistic.
She sat down next to Callie. "My initial concern was that the Robinson Family isn't an ordinary family, which is why I suggested you keep it a secret."
Cynthia herself had experienced the exclusion from a prominent family, so she understood the kind of situation Callie was about to face.
Thinking about her own situation, Cynthia also felt a pang of sadness.
"You're much better off than me. At least your senior truly loves you." She wasn't facing this alone.
But as for herself...
Callie took a deep breath, pushing those thoughts aside. She didn't have time to dwell on them now; Rafael still hadn't been laid to rest.
"Can you take care of Leif for a couple of days?"
"Of course," Cynthia reassured her. "Don't worry, I'll take good care of Leif."
Callie trusted Cynthia as her best friend, and leaving Leif in her care was a testament to that trust.
"Everything's happening at once. Make sure you take care of yourself," Cynthia comforted her.
Callie nodded. She knew she had to be strong. For her son's sake, she needed to pull herself together.
"I’m worried my mom might be at a disadvantage at the Norris Family house. I need to go back," Callie said.
Cynthia reassured her to go handle her matters.
Callie left the hotel and headed straight to the Norris Family estate.
As soon as she walked in, she saw Gianna aggressively showing off in front of Caitlin.
"You’re just a discarded woman. How dare you preside over Rafael’s funeral? The title of Mrs. Norris should be mine!"
Unlike before, Caitlin didn’t stay silent and swallow her grievances after being bullied.
"I never divorced Rafael. You’re the one who has no right," Caitlin calmly retorted, her words enough to render Gianna speechless.
Gianna’s sore spot was that she never married Rafael and didn’t have a legitimate status.
Caitlin’s words stung even more than if Callie had said them. Coupled with Myron’s injury, Gianna’s pent-up anger exploded. She raised her hand to slap Caitlin.
Callie stepped forward swiftly and grabbed her hand. "My dad just died. Don’t act like a shrew."
Gianna turned her head and saw Callie, her eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets. "Oh, so now you all show up? When your dad was sick, none of you came to take care of him. Now that he's dead, you all want a piece of the inheritance? Let me tell you, all the Norris Family money belongs to Myron!"
Her gaze shifted, becoming even sharper. "Callie, you hurt my son. I won't let you off!"
Callie couldn't be bothered with her nonsense and shoved her aside. "Stop causing trouble!"
Everything would have to wait until after the funeral.
Gianna had no choice but to hold back, knowing she couldn't take on both mother and daughter.
At that moment, she thought of her son again. If Myron were here, she wouldn't have to fear Caitlin and Callie.
Caitlin didn't want to stoop to Gianna's level. She pulled Callie aside and asked quietly, "Why are you here? Where's Leif?"
"I left him with Cynthia..."
"Callie." Caitlin interrupted before Callie could finish her sentence.
"Mom, what's wrong?" Callie asked, puzzled.
Caitlin's gaze was fixed behind her. Following her mother's line of sight, Callie turned around and saw Shane standing not far away.
She was surprised. "What are you doing here?"
Shane replied, "I came to see you."
Caitlin patted her daughter and said, "I'll handle things here. You go ahead."
Callie nodded softly. Just as she was about to walk over, Shane approached and said, "If you need any help, just let me know."
His words seemed directed at both Callie and Caitlin.
Caitlin knew that her daughter and Shane's marriage wasn't based on love. Callie had secretly given birth to Shane's child, indicating that their marriage was far from ideal.
As a mother-in-law, Caitlin had no standing or authority to act superior in front of him. She didn't want to cause any trouble for her daughter.
So, she turned and walked away.
Callie pulled Shane aside. "What are you doing here?" she asked.
Shane found her words odd. "We are married. Your father passed away. As your husband, shouldn't I be here?"
Hearing words "married" and "husband," Callie felt a tight squeeze in her heart, and her nose tingled with the urge to cry.
"Don't be sad."
Shane, thinking she was grieving Rafael's death, pulled her into his arms. "I'll take care of you from now on."
Callie closed her eyes bitterly.
...
Three days later, Rafael's funeral concluded.
Rafael's lawyer gathered everyone from the Norris family in the living room.
Myron still had bandages wrapped around his head, and his injury hadn't fully healed.
He seemed uninterested in what the lawyer had to say, his face marked by the sorrow of losing his father.
He looked like he couldn't muster any enthusiasm for anything.
"President Norris knew he was ill and made a will..."
"Is he leaving all the Norris family assets to Myron?" Gianna interrupted.
The lawyer responded calmly, "Please be patient. The will is right here."
With that, he took out the documents.
Before the lawyer could even begin reading the contents, Gianna couldn't wait any longer. She snatched the document from him, eagerly opening it to browse through the contents. Her heart was filled with joy and anticipation, dreaming of inheriting all the Norris Family's assets.
However...
The more she read, the paler her face became.
By the end, her face was completely drained of color.
"No, this can't be. Rafael would never do this to me. This must be fake. It has to be fake!" She screamed in madness, tearing the document to shreds.
The lawyer didn't stop her because it was just a copy, not the original. It didn't matter if she tore it up.
"You must have all conspired against me!" She glared at the lawyer and then turned her gaze to Callie and Caitlin. "You two! It must be you two behind this!"
Callie couldn't be bothered to waste words with her. She signaled the lawyer to read the will.
Gianna wasn't about to give up easily, but Myron held her back and said, "Mom, lawyer Eric was someone Dad trusted deeply. He wouldn't lie. Please, stop making a scene."
"But Myron, I'm your mother..."
"I know you're my mother, but what good will come from making a scene now?" Myron asked her.
Gianna was left speechless.
Reluctantly, they listened to the lawyer read the will.
"I, Eric, Mr. Rafael's trustee, am here to announce his will. He has allocated his assets as follows: The Norris Family estate, the trust fund, and the savings will all go to his wife, Caitlin. The company will be handed over to Callie Norris and Myron..."
The lawyer paused for a moment before continuing, "There is a special condition. Without Callie's permission, Myron cannot interfere in any company affairs. During this period, all company matters will be managed by Callie. In other words, even though Myron holds half of the company's shares, he has no decision-making power. Whether he gets that power or not is up to Callie."
Myron's face remained expressionless upon hearing this.
He looked calm, neither angry nor upset.
In stark contrast, Gianna, standing beside him, was visibly furious, her face contorted with rage!
"There is one more thing meant for you," the lawyer said, handing an envelope to Callie.
Callie looked up at the lawyer.
"This should be something Mr. Rafael wanted to say to you," the lawyer explained.
Callie took the letter and opened it.
After reading its contents, she calmly folded the letter back.
"You know about this, right?" she said, addressing the lawyer.
Rafael must have trusted the lawyer deeply to leave everything in his hands.
Lawyer Eric replied, "I do. Just say the word, and I'll take care of it immediately."
Callie, with an air of nonchalance, said, "Go ahead."
"Take care of what?" Caitlin asked curiously.
Callie explained, "Gianna tried to kill me before, but she didn't succeed. Still, it's a crime. My dad found evidence that she masterminded the whole thing. Lawyer Eric will report it to the police and act as my attorney."
Gianna was so terrified that she collapsed to the floor.
Rafael not only left her with nothing but now also wanted to see her dead!
She was filled with hatred and resentment.
Was everything she had done all for nothing?
"Mom, did you really do that?" Myron asked, his face full of disbelief.
He knew his mother had her schemes, but he never thought she would dare to commit murder!
Gianna, unwilling to accept her fate, admitted, "Yes, I was afraid she would fight us for the inheritance. And look, your dad favored them in the end, giving everything to Caitlin and her daughter, not caring about us at all! He even wants me dead!"
A dark glint flashed in Myron's eyes before quickly disappearing into their depths.
He shoved Gianna away. "How could you? Even if Callie isn't your biological daughter, we still share the same father. How can you be so heartless? No wonder Dad didn't leave you any inheritance. It's because of your mistakes that he punished you."
Gianna's eyes widened in disbelief. Now even her own son was blaming her?
"Ah!" Gianna's heart shattered. "What's the point of living? I've wasted my life on a man, and now my only son hates me. I might as well be dead..."
Gianna wept bitterly.
Her tears were genuine.
Myron's words had deeply wounded her.
Callie stood up and looked at Gianna. "You should honestly face the consequences of your actions. It's the least you can do for your son."
With that, she called out to Caitlin, "Mom, let's go."
Caitlin followed Callie out of the Norris Family estate.
With Rafael gone, the Norris Family was in decline.
"What did Dad's letter say?" Caitlin asked curiously.
She had wanted to ask for a long time, but the presence of Gianna and her son in the room had held her back.
Callie said, "Dad hopes I can take care of Myron."
Caitlin scoffed, "What is your dad thinking? Entrusting Myron to you? Does he think you'll definitely accept? Even if you wanted to, Callie, I wouldn't agree."
Myron had been raised by Gianna since he was a child. He had grown up under her influence and was just like her.
"So Dad gave me evidence of Gianna's wrongdoings to appease me," Callie said, feeling that Rafael was indeed a bit heartless.
Gianna had followed him since she was young, giving birth to his son without any official status.
In the end, she was left with nothing.
It was truly a sad fate.
It showed how cold and indifferent people could be.
Caitlin understood, "Your dad did it on purpose to let you vent your anger, so you'd be more willing to take in Myron?"
Callie thought that Rafael probably had that intention.
"Mom, did you ever love Dad?" she asked.
Caitlin pressed her lips tightly together.
After a moment of silence, she finally spoke, her tone filled with melancholy, "Of course I loved him. Otherwise, I wouldn't have married him. Even after knowing he had another woman outside, I didn't divorce him. I still held onto some hope for him."
"Do you hate him?"
"He's already dead. What's there to hate? After walking through the gates of hell and back, I've come to terms with everything," Caitlin said, her tone now more philosophical.
There was a time when she had felt resentment and hatred.
But now that he was gone, the past was wiped clean.
Lawyer Eric acted swiftly. Within a few days, he had dealt with Gianna's matters. With evidence of her wrongdoings and her own disheartened state, the process was clean and quick.
The Norris Family estate was where Callie Norris had spent her childhood. Rafael had left it to Caitlin, probably hoping that the Norris Family home would be preserved.
Understanding Rafael's intentions, Callie and Caitlin moved into the Norris Family estate with Leif.
This way, she didn't need to buy another house.
Her only headache now was that she didn't know how to run a business. Rafael had left the company to her, which wasn't exactly a wise decision!
But since Rafael had entrusted her with the company, she had to take responsibility. When Myron was capable enough to handle things on his own, she would hand the company over to him. She still wanted to return to being a doctor.
Myron's arrangement was actually a plan to hand over the company to him once he had matured.
Right now, Myron needed experience in all aspects.
She thought this was Rafael's painstaking effort, and as his daughter, she should fulfill his last wish.
Among the people she knew, the only one who was good at business was Shane. However, he was usually very busy, and she didn't want to bother him directly. So, she thought of Henry, who was close to him.
She arrived at Skyreach Corporation!
She wanted to seek advice from Henry.
"Let's go to my office," Henry said.
Callie nodded.
As Henry led her upstairs, he asked, "Why did you come to me? Wouldn't it be easier to find President Robinson?"
Although Callie hadn't mentioned divorce or breakup with Shane, she hadn't forgotten Old Master Robinson's words that day.
She tried to avoid spending time with Shane. The more feelings she developed for him, the more painful it would be when they had to part.
Ding! The elevator stopped.
Callie followed Henry down the stairs.
She looked up and saw Shane not far away, with someone else by his side.
And she recognized that person!
She quickly averted her gaze, trying to avoid any further interaction.
However, Henry chose that moment to speak up, "President Robinson is here. Do you want to go say hello?"
His voice caught the attention of the nearby people.
Shane turned his head to look over, leaving Callie with nowhere to hide. She had no choice but to meet his gaze and smile, "I have something to discuss with Henry."
"What is it?" Shane asked.
He probably already knew, but he asked anyway.
His main purpose was to see how she would respond.
During Rafael's funeral these past few days, she had used being busy as an excuse to avoid returning to the villa, and she didn't let him attend the funeral either.
It felt like she was distancing herself from him.
"It's nothing important," she replied lightly.
Shane remained expressionless, "Come with me."
With that, he started walking towards his office.
Callie hesitated, standing still. Seeing her reluctance, Henry whispered, "President Robinson is being nice to you now, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a temper. You should go."
Callie took a deep breath and forced a smile, "I know."
"Wasn't she fired? How is she still at the company?" Callie asked.
Henry glanced at Lydia before replying, "Yes, she was fired. But for some reason, President Robinson asked me to arrange a new position for her. She's now working in the PR department and just came over to deliver some documents."
Henry was puzzled by this as well.
It was clear that Shane only had eyes for Callie.
He had always shown disdain for that woman.
Suddenly, she was back in the company.
Henry couldn't figure out what Shane was thinking.
Could it be that he had some interest in Lydia?
Callie chuckled, "Isn't his behavior strange?"
Henry nodded, then quickly shook his head, "President Robinson isn't like that. Don't misunderstand."
Callie wasn't upset. She smiled and said, "There must be a lot of women who like him, right?"
Henry remained silent because it was indeed true.
"With so many beautiful women around him, he'll eventually get tired of someone like me who doesn't understand romance..."
"No, you're different," Henry quickly explained on behalf of Shane.
Callie curled her lips into a smile, though her expression was anything but pleased.
Different? How so?
She let out a self-mocking laugh and walked over.
Lydia, holding a stack of files, looked at her and smiled. "We meet again."
Her face appeared innocent, but her eyes were full of provocation.
Callie knew Lydia had feelings for Shane. Women understood each other best.
From the moment she had visited the villa last time, she could sense her intentions.
Moreover, with Old Master Robinson backing her, becoming the next Mrs. Robinson shouldn't be too difficult for her.
Callie smiled and said, "Yes, we meet again."
With that, she pushed open the office door and walked in.
Lydia's smile gradually faded, her grip on the files tightening, her eyes filled with envy, jealousy, and hatred.
She envied Callie's relationship with Shane.
She was jealous that Callie had Shane's affection.
Inside the office.
Shane stood by the floor-to-ceiling window. Hearing the commotion, he turned around.
Callie wore a flawless smile on her face. "Did you need something from me?"
Shane said nothing, his gaze fixed intently on her.
Feeling uneasy under his stare, Callie asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
She reached up to touch her face. "Is there something on my face?"
"Why didn't you come to me?" Shane stepped closer.
Callie took a step back, maintaining her distance, her smile unwavering. "I don't know what you're talking about!"
"You went to Henry because you don't understand business and needed his advice, right?" His voice was low, seemingly calm but with an undercurrent of intensity.
Callie met his gaze with some difficulty. "My dad left the company for me to manage temporarily. I studied medicine in college and have no experience in business management, so I went to Henry for help. I thought you might be busy, so I didn't want to bother you..."
"Is that so?" Shane let out a cold laugh from deep in his throat. "Tell me, what's really going on?"
Callie continued to smile. "Nothing's going on..."
"Still pretending?" Shane cut her off sharply. "Did the old man say something to you?"
Callie's smile faltered and slowly faded away.
"Did he tell you to leave me?" Shane asked.
Callie lowered her head. "No."
"Then why have you been so distant lately?" he demanded, almost accusingly.
Callie suddenly lifted her head, her face pale. "Because I'm afraid..." of liking you, afraid of falling too deep.
"Afraid of what?" Shane took a step closer, and Callie immediately stepped back. The more she retreated, the closer Shane pressed.
She couldn't bring herself to look Shane in the eye. "I have something to do..."
Shane, frustrated by her refusal to be honest, angrily shoved her against the door. Bang! Her head hit the door, and a buzzing pain filled her mind.
The pain blurred her consciousness.
Shane moved in, pinning her jaw, and forcefully kissed her!
Pain!
Pain was the only thing Callie could feel.
It wasn't a kiss; it was more like a bite.
He was rough, possessive, and demanding.
Callie didn't resist; she couldn't resist.
She silently endured his wrath.
But he grew bolder, his hand slipping under her blouse, kneading and caressing her waist. Callie's eyes widened in shock, and she whispered, "This is the company, your office. Aren't you afraid someone will see?"
Shane simply lifted her up, supporting her waist as he carried her to the sofa. "No one will come in without my permission."
Her throat felt painfully dry, and she glanced away. "My dad just passed away. I can't do this with you..."
Shane's expression faltered, the intense fire in his eyes cooling slightly.
Taking advantage of his momentary distraction, Callie broke free from his grasp and quickly ran out.
She ran fast, colliding with Lydia in the hallway.
Callie looked up.
Lydia noticed the bite mark on her lip.
It was clearly a fresh bite.
And she had just been in his office, alone with him.
It was obvious what had happened.
Lydia's face instantly turned sour.
Callie didn't linger and immediately walked away.
Back in the office, Shane called for his assistant to summon Henry.
Henry quickly arrived at the office.
"Go help her out," Shane said, tugging at his collar.
Henry understood immediately. "I'll go right away."
Just as he was about to leave, he seemed to remember something and turned back. "By the way, Mrs. Robinson saw Lydia bringing you some documents earlier. She asked me why Lydia was still around. She seemed a bit upset. Do you think she might be jealous?"
His stern expression noticeably softened.
Could Callie really be jealous?
Though he felt a surge of happiness inside, he kept a calm exterior. "I see. You can go now."
Henry nodded and left.
As the office door closed, a small smile crept on his face.
His anger, his joy—all because of Callie!
Outside the office.
"Assistant Henry, where are you headed?" Lydia asked with an innocent smile.
Henry had no intention of revealing Shane's instructions to her. He simply replied, "Just some work matters."
With that, he walked away.
But Lydia wasn't ready to give up. "Assistant Henry, could you help me with something?" she asked, trailing closely behind him.
Henry asked, "What do you need my help with?"
