Chapter 406 Why did you suddenly kneel before me?
The Smith family was the ninth-ranked prestigious family in the country, with a profound strength. Although each of the three sons had their own sources of support, Master Barry's presence prevented them from going overboard.
Frir Mansion was the headquarters of the Super Group. As soon as a Ferrari stopped at the entrance William and Sophia emerged from the car.
"It's been a while since I was last here. Let's go, I'll take you inside! Grandfather's office is on the top floor," Sophia said as they walked towards the building. After a quick glance at the tall building, William followed Sophia inside.
There were many people coming in and out of the building, all of them working here. Upon seeing Miss Sophia from the Smith family, they greeted her one after another.
As they were waiting for the elevator, a young man came walking towards William and Sophia.
"This is an unexpected surprise. How did you find the free time to come today?" The one speaking was Sophia's cousin, Bragon.
He looked incredibly polished, sporting a fashionable hair style and the latest designer clothes. The watch on his wrist alone was worth at least hundreds of thousands of dollars. He didn't have much talent himself; he relied solely on his family's reputation.
"I'm here to see grandpa," Sophia seemed quite disdainful of her cousin. After responding coldly, she paid no more attention to him.
Due to the competitive relationship between their fathers, the children also held a mutual dislike for one another.
"Haven't been studying at Kings University for long, but your temper seems to have grown," Bragon furrowed his brow. He then shifted his gaze to William, who was standing next to Sophia, and looked him up and down disdainfully before asking.
"Who's this? Is he your friend?"
"He's William Brown, my friend and grandfather's friend," Sophia added the part about her grandfather's friend on purpose so that Bragon wouldn't dare to undermine William.
"Grandpa's friend? Interesting, interesting. There happens to be a company party with many families present. Why don't you both come along? Grandpa will be there, and this poor friend of yours can come too!" Bragon chuckled.
"Bragon, what tricks are you trying to play?" Sophia understood her cousin's nature the best. He wouldn't invite them to a party without a motive. There must be another purpose.
"What tricks would I play? Didn't you say this poor man is grandpa's friend? Since he's at the party, let's go and have some fun together." Bragon's mouth curled mischievously. Honestly, he didn't believe that William was actually grandpa's friend and wanted to take advantage of the situation by using William to embarrass Sophia.
"We should go wait for my grandfather in his office," Sophia knew Bragon's intentions weren't good, so she wanted William to go to her grandfather's office and not give Bragon a chance. However, Bragon was persistent.
"What's the matter? Are you scared? What is there to be afraid of at a party?"
Sophia furrowed her brows, about to refuse, but William interrupted.
"Then let's go and attend this party! We can meet your grandfather there without interrupting his time at the party." William smiled faintly.
"Great, let's go together. I'll lead the way," Bragon sneered, then led William and Sophia into the elevator and straight to the 18th floor.
This floor was dedicated to corporate events and celebrations.
Soon, William and the others arrived at the party. It was bustling with many well-dressed individuals engaged in conversations.
"William, maybe we should still go wait for my grandfather in his office!" Sophia whispered persuasively. She was worried that Bragon would play tricks to embarrass William. However, William had a different idea.
"Don't worry at all. Since your grandfather is hosting this party, it's best we find him here," William reassured her, while Sophia sighed inwardly, realizing that this was the best course of action for now.
Several young men and women approached Bragon, greeting him.
"Bragon, why are you arriving so late?" a heavily made-up young woman inquired, leaning in close. Her tone and voice sounding false, while her attire was daring and revealing.
"You look particularly sexy today!" Bragon said, wrapping his arm around her slim waist before introducing the others.
"By the way, our big star is here too, along with her... friend."
Bragon deliberately pointed out William, who was dressed modestly, to his group of friends, making his intentions clear. These young people came from wealthy families, wearing designer clothing, so they looked down upon William's appearance with disdain.
"Can this poor guy really be friends with Sophia? It's quite unexpected!" a short and unattractive man stepped forward, mocking.
"Sophia, how could you be friends with a poor and vulgar guy like him? Your taste is getting worse," someone commented.
Seeing the unpleasant expression on Sophia's face, brought a sense of satisfaction to Bragon. Due to the competitive relationship between their fathers, there was also competition among the younger generation. That's why Bragon was taking the opportunity to humiliate William and undermine Sophia.
"Don't say such things about him. He happens to be a friend of my grandfather's. If my grandfather hears you, it won't be good," Bragon sarcastically retorted.
"Would Master Smith really have such a poor friend?" the short man questioned skeptically. Others joined in with their mocking remarks.
"Just look at him. Is he worthy of having a connection with Master Smith?"
"Yeah, a poor person like him shouldn't be allowed to attend this kind of party."
"That's enough!" Sophia was furious. She knew that Bragon had no good intentions when he invited them to the party, and now it was confirmed.
"Sophia is angry, all because of a poor person. Is it worth getting so angry over?" Bragon's arrogance grew as Sophia's anger flared.
"Bragon, you're truly childish and annoying. I'm going to find my grandfather!" Sophia said, attempting to drag William with her, but Bragon's gaze prompted the others to block Sophia's path.
"Don't go, Sophia. It was just a joke. Can't you take a joke?" Bragon's taunting tone continued as he held her in his arms.
"Yeah, a big star like you can't even take a joke. So serious and moody," Bragon's friends couldn't help but mock.
Sophia found herself in a dilemma, and William furrowed his brow, speaking up.
"I advise you all to reconsider... Get lost, or you will regret it," spoke William sternly.
"Regret? Who the hell do you think you are? Telling us we will regret anything?" Bragon sneered, almost pointing his finger at William's face as he cursed.
"Yeah, you idiot!" Nobody in the room took William's words seriously.
Shaking his head, William thought to himself that this group really deserved a good beating.
Then, he pointed his finger at Bragon's knee, and suddenly an invisible surge of psychic energy shot out, hitting Bragon's knee. As a result, he felt a sharp pain and immediately knelt down, right in front of William.
This sudden turn of events left them all shocked.
"Bragon, why are you suddenly kneeling before me?" William smiled faintly at the corner of his mouth.
