Chapter 407 An Alliance?

Overnight, the Das Guild had undergone a spectacular upheaval, and the news spread like wildfire throughout Canada. Everyone, from the martial community to the prestigious families, reassessed the strength of the Flood Boxing Guild Society in light of these developments.

But the biggest impact had to be on the Campbell family.

In a luxurious villa within Canada, Ismael, the semi-retired chairman of the Campbell Group was stunned upon receiving the news.

"Are you sure the Das Guild has been taken over by the Flood Boxing Guild?" Ismael sat on a tiger-striped sofa, staring incredulously at his eldest son, Colin, who had delivered the news.

"The Das Guild has indeed been subsumed under Flood Boxing Guild’s command. Their leader, Santiago, has vanished and been replaced by Neil from the Flood Boxing Guild," Colin reported truthfully, not daring to hide anything.

"When did the Flood Boxing Guild become so powerful? A century-old martial faction was taken over in one fell swoop—just how formidable must they be?" Ismael sensed the danger looming.

"I heard that the Flood Boxing Guild won over the Das Guild through a series of challenges. They say Santiago lost an arm to a young fighter," Colin added.

"Santiago was a master of innate ability; what kind of young man could possess such terrifying power?" Ismael was surprised.

"Not only that, I've also heard that this same youngster not only severed Santiago's arm but also killed the old patriarch of the Das Guild, Urbano," Colin said with a shiver.

"What??" Ismael jolted up from his seat, his face etched with shock.

"Urbano was killed by that young man??"

The maiming of Santiago was surprising enough, but the death of Urbano was truly terrifying.

Having lived as long as he had, Ismael knew all too well just how formidable Urbano was. Twenty years ago, before going into seclusion, he had been one of the top four masters of Canada. After two decades, his strength must have increased significantly.

Yet, even such a figure had been slain, and by a young man, no less. This fact indeed struck fear into Ismael's heart.

"The disciples who escaped from the Das Guild said as much. The young man's power is incredible; he could take on the whole Das Guild single-handedly," Colin confessed, equally fearful of this mysterious newcomer.

"If that's true, this young man's abilities might be on a whole different level," Ismael said, fraught with concern.

"Seems like the emergence of the mineral veins has drawn masters from all over the country to Canada. It looks like we, the Campbell family, need to make some changes as well."

Without the Das Guild to rely on, they faced a power vacuum in the martial world. With Canada's tumultuous situation and no martial faction to back them, the Campbell family's enterprises were left unprotected.

"We must find a new, formidable martial faction to support us as soon as possible, or the Campbell family will be in jeopardy," Ismael quickly realized.

"Do we need to send someone to negotiate with the Flood Boxing Guild?" Colin pondered for a moment before suggesting.

"Right, I'll prepare a generous gift and personally pay a visit to the Flood Boxing Guild's residence in Canada." Ismael furrowed his brows, determined to win the Flood Boxing Guild's backing this time. It was crucial to ensure that the Campbell family remained the prominent household in the country.

William Brown had been staying within the Flood Boxing Guild's quarters for the past few days. In addition to Neil's persistent invitations for him to stay, he was curious to see how many influential families would pay a visit after the Das Guild was incorporated by the Flood Boxing Guild.

He was also waiting for a big fish to take the bait.

However, there was one thing that gave William Brown a headache during his stay — Delilah's incessant attentions.

"William Brown, I made you a bowl of deer antler and tiger bone soup to help nourish your body," Delilah said as she breezed into William Brown's room with the grace of a lotus step, carrying a steaming bowl.

"I've already recovered; I don't need daily nourishment," replied William Brown, somewhat speechless. Deer antler and tiger bone were powerful tonics, and after several days of consumption, he was starting to feel overheated.

"You need to recover. The battle with that old monster took a lot out of you," insisted Delilah, who was using the pretext of replenishing his energy to further her own agenda.

This secret recipe, taught to her by Paisley, was meant to stir a man's desires after drinking, and Delilah was ready to do whatever it took to win over William Brown.

"Just leave it here; I'll drink it later," William Brown said, planning to dispose of the soup once Delilah was gone.

"The soup won't taste good once it cools. Better to drink it while it's hot," Delilah suggested coyly, her eyes shimmering and causing William Brown to shudder.

"I'm full right now, I'll drink it later!" William Brown really didn't want to consume any more of the tonic; he was already feeling the heat.

"Okay, then. Have it later; I'll step out for a bit," Delilah said as she turned and left the room with a sly twinkle in her eyes.

Once she was gone, William Brown hastily grabbed the bowl, intending to pour it down the toilet, but just as he lifted the soup, Delilah breezed back in.

"William Brown, didn't you say you were full? Why are you picking up the soup again?" Delilah asked with playful eyes.

"Oh, well, I suddenly got hungry again," William Brown muttered awkwardly, obviously unable to tell her he was planning to dump the soup.

"Hungry, huh? Then you better drink up!" Delilah teased, her lips curling as if she had anticipated William Brown's intentions all along.

With a sigh, William Brown realized he couldn't outwit this girl, so he gulped down the soup in one go.

As soon as he finished, the familiar sensation of heat coursed through him again. Noticing this, a tinge of shyness flashed across Delilah's eyes as she sprayed herself with a faintly scented perfume.

This perfume, another "gift" from the scheming Paisley, was said to trigger a man's hormones, a perfect match for the aphrodisiac effects of the deer antler and tiger bone soup. According to her, no man could resist the combination.

"William, what do you think of my perfume?" murmured Delilah as she seductively approached William. Her heart hammered faster with each step, a rosy blush spreading across her cheeks.

William took a casual sniff without a hint of suspicion, detecting a light, fresh scent. "It's nice, subtle. It suits you," he nodded in approval. Yet as the scent lingered, a restless heat grew within him, an urge to let loose becoming increasingly stronger.

Watching William's eyes blaze with a growing intensity, Delilah bit her lip, sprinted towards him, and threw her arms around him, burying herself in his embrace.

"William, I like you," she confessed, her face flushed with shyness. On her tiptoes, she leaned in for a kiss, determined to win him over in one decisive move.

But just then, the room's door burst open.

"William, the Campbell family has sent someone over!" Neil announced, rushing in a panic, only to stumble upon the romantic scene. With a mischievous chuckle, he said, "Carry on, carry on—I didn't see a thing!" and with those words, he closed the door behind him.

Blushing, Delilah extricated herself from William's arms. "Since my father needs you, I'll step out," she said, and darted out with a face still bright red.

William sighed in relief; he had nearly lost control. "I have to swear off that deer antler and tiger bone soup. Something about the perfume she's wearing seems off too. Better keep my distance from this girl," he mused to himself.

It wasn't long before Neil re-entered the room, sporting a sly grin. "Brother, what do you think of my daughter?" he inquired.

"Your daughter is quite lovely, beautiful and talented," William replied, pouring himself a glass of water to quench his scorching thirst.

"I won't lie—I'd like to offer her hand to you. What say you?" asked Neil, earnest and full of hope.

William nearly spit out his water, managing to swallow it down. "Let's stick to business, Elder Neil. You mentioned the Campbell family had sent some people over?" he deftly changed the subject.

"Yes, that's right. The head of the Campbell family, Ismael, along with his eldest son, Colin, brought over many gifts. They want to form an alliance with us," Neil replied earnestly.

"Tell them we can negotiate the Das Guild, but only with Kevin, the second son. Everyone else is off the table," William said with a faint smile. This was his first strategic move to trigger an internal struggle within the Campbell household.
