Chapter 27 I Wasn't Supposed To Know.
Chapter28
Naida
I knew he wasn't expecting the question because his eyes widened for a split seconds before he finally was able to blink his eyes correctly.
“What did you say?" He asked, and I immediately repeated the question. I wasn't going to allow the time slip past my hands. This was the only opportunity. I needed to make sure I made use of the opportunity now. I didn't care how long it was going to take.
"What made you bring up such a thing? Don't you like it here?” he asked again, and this time rested his hands on my shoulders.
I stared into his eyes, and his scent that entered my nostrils as I took in breaths made me almost go crazy. However, I decided to focus.
“Well, I guess I need to know. I have been here for quite some time, and all I do is stay in the pack house. I eat, sleep, wake up, and then repeat the same things all over again. I'm not allowed to go out, and you aren't really proposing marriage, so what?”
It took some time for him to recover from the bravery I had put on to ask him that question. I was even confused. I expected things to go on so easily, and I was hoping that it would all play out well enough.
“So are you going to tell me? Or am I some kind of sacrifice?" He seemed taken aback by my statement, and didn't say a thing. In fact, I saw myself being worried about the whole thing.
"No, no, no… you're getting it all wrong, and I don't know what you mean by sacrifice, can you stop being dramatic? I knew you were crazy, but I didn't know you were this crazy.”
I scoffed, rolling my eyes with my hands crossed over my chest. That wasn't the answer to the question I was looking for. I still needed him to actually face him, and despite everything that was going to happen, I knew there was a need to make it work out.
“You have to calm down. You have never been this way, you have to understand that there are some things that can't really be explained now okay?”
I raised one of my brows, and then my heart immediately thumped. It was one hard beat, and I felt my chest was about to fall off.
"You have to understand that I really can't make any compliments for now because it's complicated, but when I'm ready to tell you the truth, I'm going to do that, and when i do, i know you'll be happy to–"
The silence was hard for me, so I exhaled, trying to process all he had said as the words from Jayden began to ring in my head.
“Jayden was right–” I didn't dare mutter it out, but it sang continually in my heart. I was definitely in trouble, and there was nothing that I could do about it even when I wanted to.
“Hello, are you alright?" He waved his palms in my face, causing me to blink back to reality. I tried to force a smile, but I couldn't. My brows furrowed, and I tried to contain myself, but I didn't know how it ended up.
“Hey, I know you're bothered about why you're here, but there's a lot that's already involved. I promise when the time is right, you'll see the purpose why you're here, and trust me, you're here to make my life a better one.”
He had just hit the nail on the head. I didn't really know which head exactly, but I was sure that he had hit the nail so hard that I didn't know what else I was doing here.
"Naida…" he called, inching closer as his palms caressed my cheek, but as it did, it was no longer calming. It was more disturbing and worrying. I didn't even know how else to be able to understand it.
“You have to calm down. I know you'll be calm. I understand how shocked you are, but you can't let him know you know the truth,” my wolf said, and I nodded. There was pain in my eyes.
Despite the fact that he looked really sincere, I was shocked at how he could lie to my face as though I was a child.
“Well you don't need to worry, I am fine. I really am. I just wanted to know, but since you have already told me to be patient and see the result, then I guess I have to.”
He smiled. He seemed to be loving the way I responded to all he was saying. I guess he had taken me for a fool who had slowly accustomed to this place, but it would never be me. I would never allow such.
“That's all that's bothering you right? Do you need anything else?" He asked, his eyes lingering on me like he was not sure that I trusted, but I had enough in my mind.
"You are going to be happy here, and soon when you find your happy place,” he leaned in like he was about to kiss me, then he pulled away.
“You really don't have to make it seem like such a big deal. Besides, I know you'll love the surprise I have planned out.”
Each of his words only made my nerves tense even more. I was confused, and didn't know what else to do other than to fake a hug smile until he exited the room.
I waited, making sure his footsteps could no longer be heard before I started to panic.
“Oh my goodness, Jayden was right, he was right all along!" I just couldn't believe it. I wished there was a way to be able to explain it but I guess it was nothing that hadn't been seen..
He had made me sure he wasn't telling the truth, and now I had to see Jayden again. I already knew my answer to his proposal.
