Chapter 26 Between Two Truths.
Chapter 26 Between Two Truths.
Naida
I didn't want to waste time. Since I already promised to actually think about it, maybe that was the best thing to do. I would ponder on it, and then find the next action to take.
“So you want to have to think about it? Aren't you worried about your life? Don't you fear that you might want to be killed?”
I exhaled. Well it wasn't like I didn't fear death, but then I needed to be sure. So far I felt safe here even when it didn't feel safe. I tried to make it understandable but then it didn't seem like it was. I was more scared, and worried.
I needed to find out the truth before I came to a conclusion. I couldn't just let myself be swayed so easily. It wasn't something that was easy, but I guess one way or the other we had to make things count.
“Are you sure you're alright? I know that things aren't so okay with you, but you seem a bit lost with all of this.”
I sighed, my mind raced as I tried to peek out through the window.
"You really don't have to keep up with this. I know that there's a lot of things involved. I can tell that they are,but you are failing to see it. Look how scared you are to stay out. What are you going to do now?"
There was silence. I remained calm, and I didn't know what to say to him. Of course, he wasn't wrong, but then I felt there were other things which I didn't understand.
“I know you are concerned about me, but for now I am safe. I will carry out more investigation, and if I see any reason to act I'll contact you.”
The way he stared at me showed he wasn't happy, but at this point I didn't really care. I had other things to worry about, and then there was something wrong.
" You shouldn't bother investigating. You won't find any trails. I was able to find this out because I worked in the pack house. He was the first fruit of the moon goddess and then he went against her and was banished into darkness, or how did the story even go. Long story short he's back to make things worse for you. All he wants is his mate. He needs her as a form of sacrifice so he would stay longer here."
Fear gripped me again, but then again I needed to confirm the story. Why would anyone want to kill their mate to live longer? Isn't that a form of loneliness no one can express?
I tried to calm down, and tried to contain myself. I didn't know how else to say it to him.
"I need to leave. There's something I need to get done, and he might… he might need to see me soon enough. I can't let him know I'm gone.”
He hummed. He didn't seem to want to say anything, but I knew Jayden wasn't happy with what I had just said, but I had to leave.
I rushed out the door, and immediately ran into a lady. I wasn't sure who she was, but I knew she was coming to see Jayden.
“Good day," she greeted, making sure to pass me as quickly as she could even when I noticed the shock on her face.
I didn't know who she was, but now wasn't the time to actually make such moves, there were many other things that I needed to do.
"Are you sure he's not found out about our move?” my wolf asked as I quickly made my way back to the pack house. My chest drummed, and I tried to understand what the hell was going on. I wished there was a way to find explanations but then there was nothing there to find.
I got back to the pack house, taking off the cloak as I rushed back to my room. As I did, I rushed to sit on the bed, hiding the cloak underneath my bed.
“We made it right on time, but then I can't get over what he said. What if he was right? What if the man we were looking at wasn't really the person we were supposed to be seeing?"
My wolf hummed. It seemed she was understanding where I was pointing from before the door was opened.
I turned my head towards the door, and once I noticed it was him, my heart skipped a beat. I swallowed, trying to contain myself. I really wished there was a way to make things work. I was tired, and I was worried about the whole thing.
"You look a bit tense, and why are you sweating so much?” He asked, staring at me with worry, and before I knew what was happening, he was on the bed with me.
His hands touched my forehead, and his eyes stared at me with worry on them.
"You really need to see a doctor, you're sweating so much, and seem to be shaking.”
Maybe it was because I was traumatized by his presence, or maybe it was just him.
“No, I don't need to visit the doctors, I'm just stressed,” I started, looking for the best way to start a conversation.
I didn't even know how else to start, I just wished it woke make sense.
"Are you sure you're good?” He answered, and there was already a lot waiting. I didn't even know how else to be able to make sense of it.
I was waiting for the right moment to tell him what I actually had in mind. Well, it was the truth, and I didn't know how else to handle it.
“You don't have to be too worried. I'm sure everything will be fine." My wolf tried to assure me as I twisted my lips to the side.
“There's something bothering you. Can you talk to me?" He asked, and I found myself immediately hitting my lips.
This was the kind of opportunity I was waiting for. "What are you holding me here for?”
