Proposing to Her
Khushi's POV:
We were still in dancing posture and Varsha teased me.
"Shall we play the song again?" Varsha said.
Everyone laughed and Shajan left me. We came from the stage.
"Now propose me," I said.
"I already proposed you," Shajan said.
"When?"
"During our college days. Now it's your turn to propose me," Shajan said.
"What? It's not fair. You told me that you would propose to me if I danced with you. I'm waiting."
"I am waiting for your reply for three years, dear," Shajan said.
"Do whatever you want. I won’t propose you. I am leaving now."
I stood up angrily and moving from there. I reached the entrance of the party hall and stopped hearing Shajan’s voice. I turned back and Shajan took the mike on the stage.
"Khushi, from a very long time, I am waiting for this moment.
Distance made my love stronger.
Time made my love sweeter.
Your love made my loneliness fade away.
Your patience made my anger stay away.
You are my heart beat that made me to live.
You are my life who helped me to love.
I am yours and n all yours.
I love you, Khushi.
Will you be mine forever?" Shajan said.
My eyes filled with tears. My emotions were uncontrollable. I ran to Shajan and hugged him.
Shajan gave a rose to me.
"Will you be mine forever?"
I smiled and took the rose.
"I am all yours forever. I love you," I said.
Everyone clapped seeing our love. I blushed and hugged Shajan to hide my face. The Party was ended.
I laid on the bed feeling weak and tired.
"Are you ok?"
"I feel weak and tired. Maybe because of dancing in the party."
"I think we need to consult a doctor. Because from a week, you are saying that you are weak."
"Don’t you know that I'm a doctor too?" I said.
"I am also a doc—" Shajan stopped his words.
"How can you be a doctor after discontinuing your studies?" I said.
"Leave it. I am about to say that I am also tired. Ok, take a rest."
I slept thinking his words.
Was he a doctor? But he discontinued his studies. Why didn’t he change the subject? What was there to hide?
All the rituals completed and finally it was time for Abhi and Varsha's marriage. I went to Varsha but stopped hearing Shajan’s conversation with her.
"Varsha," Shajan said.
"You here?"
"Do you like marrying Abhi?"
"Yes, of course," Varsha said.
"Then why are you upset? I saw you wiping your tears. If you don’t like this marriage, I will cancel it now."
"No, no. I love Abhi, but..."
"But Abhi loves Khushi. Is this your problem?"
"Yes, but how do you know that Abhi loves Khushi?"
"Khushi said everything to me. I know Abhi is marrying you to clear my doubt on them. But it's already cleared. Varsha, don’t panic. I am sure love can change a person and surely your love makes Abhi to love you. Don’t worry."
"I really wish so. Thank you so much for giving me the confidence."
Shajan left from there. Varsha and Abhi came into the mandap. Abhi tied the knot to Varsha. They got married with the blessings of their loved ones. Everyone was happy and the youngsters started dancing.
Vidya pulled me to dance. I started dancing and then we asked Varsha to join them. Varsha and Abhi danced and Shajan joined us. We are dancing happily and with a hope of being happy forever.
Suddenly, Khushi fainted and Shajan caught me in arms.
Shajan's POV:
Everyone was frightened and worried about Khushi. Khushi’s mom sprinkled water on her, but she didn’t regain consciousness. I took her to the hospital.
"We think something is wrong with her," the doctor said.
"What happened to Khushi?"
"Reports are yet to come, sir. We can’t say anything now."
"Save her at any cost. Please doctor."
"Let's see the reports first."
The doctor left and I didn't understand what happened to my love.
"Shajan, cool down. Nothing will happened to Khushi," Abhi said.
"I can’t live without her. I will become all alone. She is my only hope to live," I said with tears.
