Their Dance

Khushi's POV:

We had dinner with our family happily. My sisters and I teased one another, and Shajan and Abhi chitchatted for a while. We finished our dinner and went to our respective rooms.

Shajan hugged me, and I smiled.

"Are you happy?" Shajan said.

"Yes, I am so happy today. Thank you so much, Jan," I said.

"You have one more gift," Shajan said.

"You are the biggest gift of my life," I said.

Shajan turned me towards him and gave an envelope to me. I opened it and looked at Shajan.

"Are you happy now?"

"Don’t you have any objection if I continue my profession?"

"Not at all. Khushi, don’t leave your likes for me. Be as you are and do what you like," Shajan said.

I felt happy for getting Shajan as my husband who does anything for my happiness.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Yes," I said.

"Please answer me frankly," Shajan said.

"Do you really forgive me?" Shajan said.

"Yes. I didn’t even remember those incidents. Leave it."

"Because of you, for the first time I have experienced love and now I too have a family. Thank you, Khushi."

I broke the hug and looked at him.

"Do you want to ask me anything?"

"Yes. But…"

"It's ok. Ask me what you want to ask."

"I…I want to know… about your past."

Shajan’s face became serious.

"Khushi, you are free to do whatever you want. But don’t try to interfere in my life. It's none of your business. Stay away from my past. It's better for both of us. Don’t take advantage of the freedom I gave to you. I hate it," Shajan yelled at me and left to the balcony. I looked at him with tears in my eyes. After a while, I understood that I should give him time.

Maybe he had a bitter past and needed the time to share it with me. It's my fault to make him angry.

I went to Shajan and he turned towards me.

"I am sorry for making you angry."

Shajan took her close to him.

Jan: No Khushi. It's my fault to shout at you unnecessarily. I am sorry. You have all the rights to know about my past. I will tell you everything as soon as we get home after Abhi’s marriage.

You are my wife and has the right to know about me and my past. When I asked you not to hide anything from me, I too shouldn’t hide anything from you. Unnecessarily I hurt you," Shajan said.

"It's ok. Take your time and tell me only when you want to share with me."

"No because if we think we can say when time comes, that time never come. And before the time comes, our loved ones will come to know about that from others and lose trust in us. So, I will say everything to you when we go back to our home.

While we were talking, Vidya knocked on the door and told us that Abhi called both of us. We went to the terrace and found all the youngsters there.

"Welcome to our lovely couple."

"What's up?" Shajan said.

"Actually I have a plan for all the youngsters especially for lovers."

"What is that?" Varsha asked me.

"Actually Sangeeth is only for girls. So, I am planning a different program similar to Sangeeth tomorrow evening for all the youngsters. We can have fun there. What do you all say?" Abhi said "That's awesome. We are ready," everyone except Shajan said.

"You please carry on. I have some work," Shajan said.

"I also have some work," I said.

"No, you both should come. Because you both are newly married and after all we know that you are love birds from the college days," Varsha said.

"No, no that's wrong," Shajan said.

"We know everything. My sister used to share everything with us. So you should come," Vidya said.

Everyone asked us to come. Shajan looked at me and I nodded.

"Ok, we will join you all," Shajan said.

"But keep it as a secret from our elders. Now go and plan for tomorrow. Good night," Abhi said and we came to our room. I smiled looking at Shajan.

"What's the reason behind your smile?" Shajan said.

"Tomorrow I will make you propose to me in front of all of them," I said.

"Oh really? Such a great plan! But it won’t work because my plan is always better," Shajan said.

"What do you mean?"

Shajan hugged me and said in a low voice in my ears.

"This party is my idea to make you propose to me in front of all of them."

"Let's see," I said.

"Sure. Plan well for tomorrow. Good night, sweet heart."

Shajan slept and I planned for tomorrow.

The next evening, I wore a red and golden lehenga with loose hair and matching accessories. Shajan wore a white suit. Abhi and Varsha wore chocolate-colored suits and chocolate-colored lehengas, representing the would-be couple. Everyone gathered there. Party started.

Abhi and Varsha danced first.

"Now the loveliest couple is coming to entertain us. That is none other than Shajan and Khushi. Welcome them," Abhi said.

Shajan stood up and forwarded the hand towards me asking me to dance.

"I can’t dance," I said.

Ok, then be ready to propose me," Shajan said in a low voice.

"No," I said.

"Then dance with me. If you dance with me, I will be ready to propose to you in front of everyone," Shajan said and I accepted the challenge. We both went on to the stage.

We started dancing according to the song. Gradually we forgot everything and everyone and danced as if there's no one except us. We didn't even realize that the song was over. We totally lost in dancing and forgot the world. We remembered our first meeting, our marriage, when we chose to love, and all the love we subsequently shared. Shajan was about to kiss me but came into his senses with the sound of everyone's applause.
