Chapter 81 Lee Is A Good Guy
Chapter 81 Lee Is A Good Guy
"Allie!" Tobias shouted and then glanced at Lee.
Lee, witnessing the unfolding chaos, reacted swiftly. He aimed his gun and, with a single shot, ended the life of one of the men restraining Tobias.
The gunshot reverberated, momentarily freezing Martin's wolf and the others in the lab. Lee, facing Martin's wolf, expressed regret but stood firm, "I'm sorry, Martin,I can't watch that girl die."
Seizing the opportunity, Tobias shifted into a massive black wolf that took up nearly half of the lab and shattered the glass prison with ease.
With unparalleled strength, Tobias' wolf attacked Martin, the older gray wolf feeling the sting of his waning power as the younger wolf sank its teeth into his neck.
However, just as Tobias prepared to deliver the final blow, Martin shifted back into his human form.
Tears streamed down his face as he pleaded desperately, "Toby, I am your grandfather. Don't kill me."
The giant black wolf narrowed his eyes and showed him fangs sharper than knives. It looked like Tobias' wolf didn't want to let go of Martin.
It was the first time Martin had felt the gates of hell so close to him.
No, he didn't want to die. He killed his two sons, he hurt his two grandchildren just to stay alive.
He was Martin Wilton, the legend who created the Wilton family and made that family known as the No.1 pack in North America.
If Luna had to end his life, he should have let him die in a war for power, not let the grandson who was once a crippled loser end his life.
"Wait!"Martin shouted before the black wolf's fangs were about to sink into his neck. "Just think of Ellis, your brother. He doesn't have healing powers, and he, along with Alicia's friend and the other Alphas, they all need the antidote to that special enhanced serum to bring them back to consciousness. Otherwise, they'll sleep forever."
Martin's eyes reddened and continued, "Listen, I know the formula for the antidote, as long as you let me go."
"That modified serum was made by me." When saying those words, the lab worker who was responsible for monitoring Martin's physical condition stepped out of the shadows into the moonlight.
He raised his hand and suddenly removed his black wig and dark framed glasses, revealing his original brownish blonde hair. He was Edward, who had once betrayed Tobias.
Edward, stepping forward, revealed with an apologetic voice, "Alpha Damian, I know the formula for the special drug and its antidote. And I'm willing to help you in any way I can if you'll just spare me."
At the end of his sentence, Edward's voice quivered. He hoped he could gain Tobias's trust again.
The black wolf grunted. Its eyes seemed to show disdain for Edward, but it still gave him a little nod.
"No, Toby, he didn't..." Martin's plea was abruptly cut off as the black wolf forcefully bit down.
"Martin!" Lee shouted Martin's name and suddenly aimed the gun at Tobias's wolf.
"No, Lee, don't!" Alicia's heart raced as she positioned herself between Tobias's wolf and Lee without a moment's hesitation, her hands raised in a desperate attempt to stop the impending arrival of another tragedy.
The black wolf turned and growled low at Lee, ready to fight at a moment's notice.
Alicia turned around and hugged the wolf's head firmly, pleading with Tobias to spare him. "Tobias, Lee is a good guy. Martin got what he deserved. Can you please spare the others?"
"Allie, next time remember to have two cream cakes for me. You know Martin likes it." Lee smiled at Alicia, pointing the gun at his temple.
Before Alicia turned her head, Lee shifted his gaze to the old man lying dead on the ground. He said to Martin, "Wait for me on the way to hell. I'm coming to stay with you, my old chap."
"No, Lee." Alicia wanted to stop him but she only heard the gunshot echoed through the room, and Alicia's heart plummeted as Lee took his own life before their eyes.
Tears welled in her eyes as she watched the life ebb away, a heavy weight settling in her chest at the tragic turn of events and then she fainted.
Three days later, the death of The Wilton Family's Alpha Martin and the dissolution of the largest rogue group, the Moon Halo Pack, made headlines in the news media.
Simultaneously, the new Alpha of the Wilton Family was surprisingly the one rumored to have been in a coma and paralyzed for over a decade, Tobias.
The Alpha that the media were clamoring for was standing in the lab of the St. Crescent Medical Centre, dedicating its resources to developing a potion that would restore shifting abilities for those who had lost them due to Martin's heinous plan.
"Toby, countless reporters are waiting outside the medical center. You may not be able to get out." Ellis entered the lab and was surprised to see his brother was calmly dropping a green liquid into the test tube in his hand.
"Dude, you know today is your Luna Ceremony and wedding right?" Ellis asked.
Edward stood beside Tobias, concentrating on recording the changes in the potion on the record board after the potion in the test tube had turned black.
"998th, blue liquid, spicy smell, failed." Edward said in a flat tone and deadpan face as if he had become numb to failure.
Tobias sighed, took off his goggles, lab coat and gloves, showing the groom's suit he's wearing underneath.
He tapped Ellis on the shoulder as they walked outside and said, "Maybe you can pretend to be me and help me with the reporters."
Ellis rolled his eyes and grumbled, "Seriously? Do you have any idea how many reporters members of the Moon Halo Pack have tried to infiltrate this medical center by pretending to be reporters? If I get caught pretending to be you, I'll probably be used as an after-dinner snack by members of your pack."
Tobias frowned, "I have told Lyon to hide my location from the members and all media. How did they know I was here?"
