Chapter 80 Personally Put the Wedding Ring On Me
Chapter 80 Personally Put the Wedding Ring On Me
The cold atmosphere within the laboratory seemed to thicken as Martin's unnerving smile lingered.
"Looks like you two had a nice chat," Martin remarked, his voice carrying a sinister edge. "The full moon is on duty. So, Allie, shall we get started?"
The pale light of the full moon cast an otherworldly glow, setting the stage for the impending challenge. Alicia and Tobias exchanged a glance, a silent reassurance passing between them.
Alicia, her composure unwavering, nodded gracefully and stood up. She held Martin's gaze, firm and unyielding, as she made her request, "You must release Tobias now."
Martin, as if amused by her audacity, merely shrugged. With a subtle gesture, he signaled the lab staff, dressed in pristine white attire, to release Tobias from his glass prison.
The mechanical hiss of unlocking echoed in the glass sterile room as Tobias was yanked up from the bed by Lee and led towards the exit of the glass room. His eyes locked onto Alicia.
As Tobias passed by her, he stopped and kissed Alicia's forehead.
Alicia reminded him through their mind link,"Endure, my love. Wait for the right moment to shift and save us all."
Tobias chuckled in response, his voice echoing in their minds.
Tobias: \[Yes, Madam.\]
Then he kept a serious look and opened his mouth to remind his mate, "Be careful, Allie. I'll wait for you outside."
Alicia reached into her pocket, retrieving the almost unworn wedding ring.
Martin asked with a furrowed brow, "What do you want? You do realize that that diamond ring didn't work as a weapon to help you guys escape, right?"
Alicia rolled her eyes and ignored Martin's question. She turned to Tobias, her eyes holding a mixture of love and hope, and gently placed it on his outstretched hand.
"Tobias, when everything is over, can you personally put the wedding ring on me?" Her voice, steady but filled with a deep yearning, carried through the tense air.
Tobias kissed her finger and replied, "I'll give you a grand wedding, and wear this ring for you in the presence of the Moon Goddess, after we've witnessed the demise of evil."
His answer hung in the air, it was a symbol of their unwavering bond and a contempt for wickedness.
Alicia nodded, hope shining in her eyes.
Martin observed the scene with a sardonic smile, sensing a hint of defiance in both Alicia’s and Tobias’ eyes. He inexplicably felt a pang of panic.
He cleared his throat and took a step forward, pointed with his cane at the bed where Tobias had just lain, and said to Alicia, "The stage was set, and the glorious scene under the full moon is about to begin. So, my stunning heroine, ready to hit the stage?"
Alicia tightened her grip on her mother's necklace as the special serum entered her veins, inducing a brief moment of unconsciousness.
Martin lay on the other bed that the machine was linked to. The full moon in the night sky was offset, leaving only a little moonlight around Martin's bed, and the moon god seemed to be refusing to shine on Martin.
In the shadows, Martin impatiently urged his men, "Start the machine, now!"
The stuff initiated the machine to extract Alicia's shifter powers.
Tobias standing outside the glass prison, watched the shift powers of his mate being extracted and felt the rage, despite he knew it was Alicia's plan.
"Kid, hold on. When Martin cures the tumor, then you put me in the glass cell, and I'll take Allie away." Lee murmured after noticing Tobias’ clenched fists and his tense bite muscles.
"Don't force me to kill you later." Tobias squeezed out the words, his eyes locked on Alicia in the glass prison cell.
Only about 10 seconds or so passed. Martin successfully received Alicia's shifter powers, a malicious satisfaction painted his features, and he promptly shifted into a formidable old gray wolf.
However, the gray wolf looked very shocked.
Unexpectedly, Alicia woke up from her momentary lapse. She seemed surprised that she could wake up so quickly.
Lee looked at Alicia, who was quickly awake, and Martin, who had shifted, in surprise, "Something seems to be wrong."
The lab staff who was constantly monitoring Martin's physical condition stared at the data on the screen and looked puzzled, "The tumor in Alpha Martin's body hasn't disappeared. Plus, the power of his wolf has weakened."
Alicia checked her hands and muttered to herself. "Why? Why my healing ability hadn't been transferred to Martin? Mom, what happened to me?"
Her mind raced. Suddenly, she recalled her father's mention of her mother's unique healing gift, lost after Alicia's birth. It dawned on her – the extraordinary ability had skipped a generation, automatically passing down to the unborn puppy in her womb.
Feeling the sting of deceive , Martin's wolf roared and lunged at Alicia.
