Chapter 66
Chapter 66
Damon’s POV
My mind was a mess. I couldn’t concentrate on the meeting no matter how much I tried. The council elders were saying something important, but my only thought was on Eve, my mate.
I tried to shake her off my mind, to focus on what Garus, the head of finance was saying, but her disappointed expression kept appearing in my mind.
The fact that I didn’t get to see her before I left the house only made me even more restless. I wanted to see her, to be the one who introduced her and brought her into our new home, but duty calls.
“Alpha.” Someone called out right in front of me. I snapped out of my thoughts and saw the concerned look on Dylan’s face.
I looked around to see everyone was already staring at me, waiting for a response from me. I couldn’t even give them the answer the needed, I had been absent minded throughout the presentation.
I forced my brain to put things together, and then I responded, smartly finding a way to calmly adjourn the meeting, hoping I would be a lot calmer. This was issues with the Pack’s finance, I couldn’t just decide on it without being fully relaxed.
I missed her. I was angry, no not angry, I was jealous. When I saw her hugging Seth, it took everything in me to just walk away, and not to punch him hard in his face for daring to touch my mate.
I hate when there is another scent on my mate, it makes me what to kill that male that dared touch her. But despite all that, I still want to hold her close, kiss her until she is breathless and red from lack of air.
Can we end this meeting here? I have a lot of things to do. I signaled to Dylan to round off the meeting, I hate that I was forced to come straight to this place instead of heading back home.
I stood to my seat, indicating the end of the meeting. The rest bowed in greeting while I turned to leave, Dylan right behind me.
“Alpha, the council requests a meeting with you.” Dylan whispered behind me. My heart stopped for a minute. Everyone behind me stopped walking as well.
They knew I was back; I hated the sound of this.
“Did they say why?” I didn’t need to turn to Dylan for him to answer. I felt him shake his head instantly.
“They didn’t Alpha. I tried to get all the information I could get on the matter; it seems they found out about our Luna.” His response didn’t make me feel any better, instead it made me feel worse than I have felt in a long time.
I continued walking, but this time my thoughts were all over the place. I checked the time; it was late already. I can’t believe I survived staying in that meeting for hours.
“Let’s head back.” I told Dylan solemnly, already making my way to our car pack.
“But Alpha, we still have a meeting with the………………….”
“I said, lets head back.” I didn’t realize my tone had turned stern until I felt the echo of it in the quiet hallway. I didn’t stop walking, but headed straight to the car, and he followed immediately.
Suddenly, I paused. Why was I feeling her energy around here? Was I just being insane or was I missing her that much?
I tried to shake off that thought from my mind and continued walking towards the car, but then I felt that pull again, more intense than before. This time around I stopped and looked around with a concerned expression on my face.
“Alpha?”
“I can feel Eve’s energy around here, or am I mistaken?” I half expected him to insist that it was impossible, to maybe tell me that I was wrong, but his next words shocked me.
“Why don’t we check it out then.” Dylan replied heading straight for the driver’s seat.
I gave him a suspicious look, but I didn’t dwell on it. I tried to mind link Mitchel, and she surprisingly confirmed that they were presently in a club house.
My eyes darkened. I don’t really have the best opinion when it comes to clubs, not after I almost lost my mate to that one reckless action. But she told me that Eve insisted on it, and she was obviously powerless to refuse her.
I ran my fingers through my hair as soon as we got to the club which was full of people. My pack had a mix of both humans and supernatural, not just werewolves. We used some spell to make us unnoticeable by the normal human eyes as we dwelt among them, but still I hate this idea of Eve mixing up with them, it felt like trouble.
But my troubles disappeared as soon as her scent hit me. I saw her swelling proudly to the music, dancing with a smile that made my heart stop, and begin pounding again.
I couldn’t resist the urge to draw her closer to my body, swaying along with her. I felt her freeze for a moment and then she turned to me. Her eyes bore into mine, I felt something stir up deep inside of me. I couldn’t resist her, not anymore.
I am sick, and she is the only drug to calm me down. I kissed her, the same kiss I had been craving for a long time. As soon as our lips touched, I felt everything in my body come alive. I pulled her impossibly closer, deepening the kiss.
God, I have missed this, I have missed her more than I thought was possible. She arced even closer to me, kissing me back with an easiness that made my heart race. She was trouble, one I don’t mind getting into every single time.
She pulled away from me, but that only made my body arch with need. I pulled her closer even more, not wanting to let go, but then her body trembled. I saw her face turn red instantly, and then I understood.
My beautiful little wolf was shy. I couldn’t help the warm feeling that quickly spread through my chest. I drew her out with me, my whole-body arching with need to kiss her once more, but I held that thought in, and kept leading her away.
I pulled her closer as soon as we got to the car, this was going to be a very long night.
