I don’t know why but after seeing the scene in front of me I just stomped out of there as my blood was boiling. She was hugging the person whom I hate with all my heart and was smiling like they were close. One thing was sure that they are close to each other because of their actions and are not like they were boyfriend girlfriend.
After settling down in my car I instructed my driver to go home. I took a few deep breaths to calm my raging nerves. I could calm down after a short while and my mind went back to the college where I saw her fighting with a boy. Well, I kinda liked what she did. She is very brave, I understood that.
I was in deep thoughts when I heard a knock on my window only to see that we already reached home. I nodded to the driver and he opened the door for me while bowing.
I entered the mansion, maa engulfed me in a warm hug and I hugged her back feeling relaxed with her hug.
“What took you so long?” she asked, breaking the hug.
“I was at the college event maa so I was a bit late” I said and she nodded in understanding.
“Come. Let’s have our lunch now” she said.
“Wait. You still did not have your lunch?” I asked her in disbelief.
“Well, thanks to you” she answered sarcastically and rolled her eyes as if I asked a stupid question. I shook my head amused by her antics. She sometimes behaves as a child even though she has two grown up children.
“Sorry” I muttered guiltily because I know maa will eat with me if I’m not on business trips. No matter what, I always have my breakfast, lunch and dinner at home.
We both went to the dining room and sat where we usually sit. She served me and served for herself. We started eating in silence.
I suddenly remember Prisha’s lips and her eyes. She is the real beauty. I was never drawn to any women like this.
Meine Liebe, a voice whispered inside me. (My Love)
“What?” I was startled by my mom’s sudden voice. I looked at her confused and she arched her brow at me.
“What?” I asked her instead.
“You said Meine Liebe out of nowhere. What are you thinking? And whom did you call Meine Liebe?” she asked, staring at me intensely for an answer.
“Nothing” I averted my gaze from her and answered.
“Mujhe jawab nahi milega, I see” she said, nodding. I didn’t answer and started digging into my plate instead. (I will not get an answer, I see)
I can feel my mom’s gaze on me. I ignored her as I don’t want to answer her questions to which I have no answers. I know this will not end here.
Ofcourse, which mother will let go of a matter like this where her son just said My Love, out of nowhere, when she knows I had no relationships in the past. I am in deep trouble now.
I stuffed my food like a starved animal and quickly said bye to my mother. I know she is watching my every move but I can’t help because I have to escape from her ASAP. I did my escape and went to my car. I took a few deep breaths to stop my racing heart as I almost got caught.
“Office” I instructed my driver. I opened my laptop to check for any important emails. I replied to a few emails and closed my laptop just then we reached my office.
I got out of the car and went straight to my private elevator, pressed the last floor as it was my office. The floor has only four cabins which are for my assistant, finance director and the assistant of finance director. I don’t like my floor being noisy. I prefer working peacefully.
I entered my office and started doing my pending work. I have a lot of files to check and sign on my table. I sighed in frustration, I couldn’t concentrate on my work properly.
I closed the file and closed my eyes leaning my back on the headrest of my chair. Image of that girl came to my mind.
I opened my eyes and took my mobile to dial a person who can help me with the information I need.
“Hello, Maan Vohra speaking” he answered my call and was in all professional mode.
“Hello, Maan. I need complete information about someone” I said.
“Who?” he asked. “Prisha Jha. I need every small detail about her” I answered.
“Woah! Buddy, are you in love or what?” he asked, surprised.
“Stop with your stupid questions and do as I say” I snapped at him and hung up without waiting for his answer. I know if I keep talking to him he will surely get to know why I asked about her.
He is my childhood friend so he knows me in and out. He is one of the few people whom I trust. He is also my PI. So it is better to tell him than others whom I don’t even trust a bit. I know that he keeps his professional life and personal life separately. My secret is safe with him.
I started checking the remaining files when my intercom rang. I answered right away because I know it is from my secretary.
“Speak” I said coldly. I don’t have to be nice to everyone because they take advantage of that.
“Sir, the candidates for Finance intern have been shortlisted. Do you want to take a look?” Ruby asked.
“Bring to my cabin” I ordered and hung up the call.
Few moments later there was a knock on my door. I asked them to come in. Ruby came in with a file and I signaled her to place it on the table without glancing at her. She left immediately without a word. I know she wants my attention but I can’t give her that and waste my time. She is good at doing her job so I have to respect her for that, otherwise there is no reason not to fire her right away.
After checking and signing almost all the files, I took the shortlisted candidates file to check on their resumes. I was going through all the resumes but not even a profile nearly caught my attention. Everyone had average grades and nothing special about their profiles.
One profile got my attention. I went through the profile only to be amazed by the achievements received by that person. I am impressed with the profile right away.
Something on that profile caught my attention. Parents' names are not there on the profile, instead there was only one name in the family section.
Many questions were running through my mind. What happened to her parents? Why did she not mention her parents' names and mentioned only her uncle's name?
