Surprise from the King
King Stevan opened the door to the room without having to knock first. Alessia, who was sitting on the bed, suddenly gasped when she heard the sound of the door opening.
"King, what are you doing?" Alessia asked with a confused expression. She hid her worry and tried to act as if she didn't know anything.
"Where are you?" Stevan asked, walking closer to Alessia.
"I'm not from anywhere. I just stayed in the room according to the king's orders. Why, King?" Alessia answered with an innocent face.
"Really?" Stevan stopped in front of Alessia.
"Do I look like I'm lying?" Alessia got up from the bed and stood, looking at the king confidently.
"I don't know. Which mask are you wearing now," Stevan replied, trying to examine Alessia's face.
Alessia smiled softly, even though her heart was in turmoil. "What does the king really want to ask me? I can't read the king's mind," she said calmly.
“What do you think?” Stevan tried to penetrate Alessia’s mind. However, his efforts were unsuccessful. He thought that Alessia and Alexandra had some similarities. Only their body odors were different.
“I don’t know and I don’t want to try to find out. I’m afraid that my guess is wrong. Just ask me what the king wants to ask. I will answer it honestly,” said Alessia.
Stevan studied Alessia’s face carefully. He didn’t find anything suspicious. However, he was very sure that the one in front of Alexandra’s room was Alessia. His gaze now shifted around. He observed every corner of the room, hoping to find evidence. “Strange. Why didn’t I find any evidence at all? If not Alessia, then who? Even her face looks very calm,” he thought while glancing at Alessia.
“If the king has no interest in me, I beg the king to let me rest because starting tomorrow I will start working in this palace and the thing that requires extra energy is disguising myself as Alexandra whose character I don’t know what she is like.” Alessia complained a little.
“Okay. I’m going.” Stevan immediately turned around, then walked away from Alessia's room.
After being alone in her room, Alessia immediately contacted her friends in her original village. "Hello? Where are you?"
"I'm not bothering you anymore, so why are you bothering me?" Jeno, Alessia's friend said in a fierce tone.
Alessia took a deep breath, so as not to get carried away by her friend's attitude. "Geez, why do you like to hold grudges like that? Ah, never mind. I don't want to argue with you. I just want to tell you the latest news."
"What news?" Jeno asked, curious.
"I'm currently in the royal palace. And I've met the king. He came to my room earlier. He also had a chat with me. I..." Alessia's words were cut off.
"What?! Are you okay?!" Alessia's friend asked hysterically.
"Can you be quiet? Listen first, I want to talk!" Alessia snapped, making her friends immediately fall silent.
Alessia then continued her words. “So, it’s like this. I had been staring at the king for quite a while. I don’t know what the king was looking for in my room. Basically, he seemed to be investigating something on my body. After I asked the king why he came here, he said he wanted to take his stuff that was in my room. But, I think that was just an excuse. The proof is that he didn’t find his stuff there.”
“I have a bad feeling. Have you done something wrong in the palace lately or are you investigating something?” Alessia’s friend started to feel uneasy.
“I don’t know about that. But, if you think about it, it seems like he has a special purpose in coming here. There’s no way he came here just to take his stuff. Could it be that his goal is Alexandra? Oh my! Does he know that I went to Alexandra’s room earlier?” Alessia’s eyes immediately widened when she thought about that possibility.
Alessia’s friend was afraid that what she had been worried about all this time would really happen. “You are so reckless. Why did you go to Alexandra’s room? Are you looking for death? Oh my! I was already worried when the king suddenly came to our village. He seemed to be planning something for you.”
“I want to meet Alexandra and I want to find out her movements,” Alessia said.
“Okay. Let me know if anything happens. I’ll hang up first. Don’t let the king know.” Jeno then hung up the phone and put his phone in his coat pocket.
“It seems that I have to obey the king’s orders from now on. He’s the only one I can expect to help me.” Alessia leaned back in her chair while staring at the door.
The next day, Stevan was in the palace hall. He was currently having a meeting with the ministers. The atmosphere in the hall seemed calm and all eyes were on the king who stood proudly on his throne while explaining something. “Thank you for your time. I will monitor your performance. I’m sure you understand the plan that I have designed,” said Stevan at the end of the meeting.
All the ministers and important palace officials immediately stood up and bowed half their bodies as a form of respect for the lycan king. They all obeyed the palace rules. They knew very well that King Stevan had unmatched power and every plan of the king was a diamond plan and most likely would succeed. So, no one dared to mess around even though the king rarely attended meetings with the ministers and palace officials.
“There’s one more thing I need to tell you. I’m getting married,” said Stevan, making all the lycans around him very surprised.
