Chapter 202

Chapter 202

Stanley kept nodding, "I know, Grandma, don't worry."

With tears in his eyes, he sat in the chair and stared at Celestia as she left, not knowing when he'd see her again.

Whether he'd even get a chance to see her again was hard to say!

Emily walked Celestia to the door. The old woman seemed to sense something and said out of nowhere, "That boy Stanley is really stingy. I came all this way and he won't even let me have a meal before sending me off!"

Hearing Celestia complain like this, Emily gave an awkward laugh and tried to smooth things over for Stanley, "It's because our Director Zhang has to catch a flight soon. Celestia, let me have my colleagues drive you home."

No one noticed that after Celestia left, standing on the police station steps, tears fell to the ground.

When Emily returned to the interrogation room, she was immediately met with Stanley's loud questioning.

"I made mistakes, so why did you bring my grandma here? Even if I'm completely evil, I'm the one who did those things. Why did you have to bring my grandma in!"

Stanley was furious, his voice rising higher and higher, his eyes bloodshot, staring at Emily like a predator.

Emily took a sharp breath, picked up the cup in front of her, and downed the warm water in one gulp, "We're just doing our job, Stanley. We didn't directly tell your grandma about the bad things you did outside. We've already done more than enough for you. What more do you want?"

After Emily's questioning, Stanley immediately deflated.

His rage was nothing more than a futile struggle after seeing his own fate!

Emily set down the cup heavily and looked up at Stanley, "You need to understand, you weren't forced into crime by us. Your situation today is the inevitable result."

"Officer Johnson, can I ask you something?"

Stanley looked up at Emily again with tears in his eyes.

Before, when others interrogated Stanley, he wouldn't say anything, but he was slightly better in front of Emily.

"Go ahead."

Emily looked at Stanley seriously with a stern attitude.

She knew that no matter how pitiful Stanley was, it couldn't change the facts. The Stanley sitting in front of her was an evil criminal, part of that criminal gang, and therefore not worthy of sympathy.

"How was my wife's funeral handled? You absolutely can't let my grandma know about this. She's been waiting to hold her great-grandchild. She really can't handle something like this!"

Stanley's voice trembled, shaking uncontrollably.

Emily sighed and looked Stanley up and down with cold eyes, "According to regulations, your wife's body must be claimed by a relative, but out of humanitarian consideration, we haven't told your grandma yet, but..."

"If I tell you everything I know, before you execute me, can I see my wife one more time?"

Stanley looked at Emily with pitiful eyes.

As if in this moment, Emily sitting in front of him was his only salvation.

Emily didn't refuse, but didn't agree on the spot either.

She walked to the door of the interrogation room before saying lightly, "I can't make this decision alone. I'll go discuss it with my colleagues."

"Okay!"

Stanley was thrilled!

Emily had wanted to discuss this with William, but when she came out, she heard from colleagues that William had gone home.

She couldn't help but feel curious, "William was just saying a few days ago that he wanted to compete with me for the break room. Why would he suddenly go home?"

Joshua, carrying the late-night snacks they'd just bought from outside, looked at Emily with a bright smile, "Come eat something. William going home to rest is totally normal. He's not a robot. With this case, everyone in our station has been on edge, not getting a good night's sleep for days!"

"That's not right."

Emily sensed something was wrong. She looked up and stared straight at William's workstation.

She quickly walked to William's computer desk and after a careful search, discovered that William's gun was missing!

Normally, after work they would lock up their guns and badges.

But tonight William said he was going home to rest, yet he took his gun with him when he left?

This was too strange!

"Could William have gone back to the orphanage?"

Delilah said quietly, looking at Emily with uncertain eyes.

Seeing everyone looking at her, she added, "Captain Brown isn't reckless. If he suddenly took his gun and went out alone, there must be a problem."

"I'll go check!"

Emily said and was about to head out.

Joshua grabbed her arm from behind, "Let's discuss this and go together. It's too dangerous for you to go alone."

After all, there was no signal at the orphanage, and all communication devices stopped working once you went in.

If they just rushed over there, and really ran into Mole and his people, it might even backfire.

Emily seemed anxious, "There's no time to wait. William left a while ago!"

"I'll go with Emily. Joshua, you guys check the surveillance at our station and see if anyone suspicious showed up tonight on the roads leading to the orphanage."

Daniel gave everyone their assignments concisely.

Joshua glanced regretfully at the late-night snacks he'd brought back, "If I'd known, I wouldn't have bought so much food tonight. What a waste. We definitely won't get to eat it tonight!"

They divided up the work and set off immediately.

On the way to the orphanage, Emily kept pressing her throbbing temples.

She didn't even know what she was worried about!

She had this vague feeling that something big was going to happen tonight.

Emily glanced at the time on her phone. They arrived at the orphanage at 1 AM.

"I suggest we stick together and not split up."

Daniel glanced back at Delilah sitting in the back.

"Okay."

Emily answered somewhat absentmindedly. She knew the orphanage well by now, so she easily led everyone to find the location of that hidden room.

The sound of rustling footsteps came from not far away.

She instinctively turned to look, "William?"

The person behind her paused when they heard Emily's voice, then hurriedly ran away!

Just from the footsteps, Emily could tell that the person definitely couldn't be William.

She shouted, "Someone's here!"

Everyone looked in the direction behind her.

Delilah didn't forget to take off the handcuffs from her waist and toss them to Daniel.

Several people rushed toward the entrance.
