Chapter 82

In the world of Nexus

Third Person’s Point of View

Queen Selena gazed out across the horizon as the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the land. She stood upon the balcony of the grand palace, a regal figure clad in robes of shimmering silver. Beside her, her advisor, Lord Zeno, stood in silent contemplation.

The two had spent much of the day discussing the recent rumblings in the kingdom. Reports had come in from all corners, speaking of unrest and discontent among the people. Riots had broken out in some of the poorer districts, and there had even been talk of rebellion.

Selena had known that this moment would come eventually. She had been ruling with an iron fist for many years now, and it was only a matter of time before her subjects began to tire of her oppressive regime. But she had hoped to hold on to power for a little longer.

Now, however, it seemed that her time was running out. Lord Zeno had advised her to quell the uprisings with force, but Selena knew that such actions would only further inflame tensions.

As she stood there, lost in thought, a figure emerged from the shadowed doorway behind them. It was Lady Asclepius, Selena's personal sorceress and confidante. She was a tall, gaunt woman with piercing blue eyes and long silver hair that cascaded down her back like a waterfall.

"Your majesty," Asclepius said, her voice low and measured. "There is a matter that requires your immediate attention."

Selena turned to face her, her expression hardening. "What is it?" she demanded.

Asclepius hesitated for a moment before speaking. "There have been reports of a gathering storm to the south," she said cryptically. "It is a storm of great power, and it is headed straight for us."

Selena frowned. "What do you mean by a storm of great power?"

"An elemental storm," Asclepius replied. "One of immense power and destruction."

Selena's heart sank. She had heard tales of such storms before but had always dismissed them as mere legends. But if what Asclepius said was true, then it could mean disaster for her kingdom.

"What can we do?" she asked, her voice betraying a hint of fear.

Asclepius looked at her solemnly. "There is nothing we can do to stop it," she said. "But we can prepare for its arrival. We must evacuate the people to safer ground and fortify our defenses."

Selena nodded, knowing that Asclepius was right. She turned to Lord Zeno. "Issue an order for the evacuation of the city," she commanded. "Tell the people to gather their belongings and make their way to the northern mountains. We'll set up camp there until the storm has passed."

Lord Zeno bowed. "At once, your majesty," he said, before hurrying off to carry out her orders.

Selena turned to Asclepius. "And what of our defenses?" she asked.

Asclepius's face darkened. "We have little in the way of defenses against such a storm," she said. "But we can erect magical barriers around the city to shield it from the worst of the elements."

Selena nodded, knowing that it was the best they could do under the circumstances. "Very well," she said. "Begin preparations at once."

As Asclepius walked away, Selena remained on the balcony, gazing out at the horizon. She could already see dark clouds gathering on the southern horizon, a swirling mass of darkness that seemed to consume everything in its path.

She thought of the people in her kingdom, the loyal subjects who had looked to her for protection and guidance. How would they fare in the face of such a storm?

It was then that Selena decided. She would not abandon her people to their fate. She would stand with them, fight with them, and die with them if need be.

Selena was more than just a queen. She was a goddess, and she would not allow her people to suffer alone.

As night fell, the city began a frantic evacuation. People rushed to gather their belongings, with heavy carts laden with food and other necessities clogging the streets. Selena watched from the palace balcony, her heart heavy with the knowledge that she was powerless to help them.

She watched as Lord Zeno and Lady Asclepius coordinated the evacuation, sending scouts ahead to ensure the safety of the roads. It was a logistical nightmare, but they worked tirelessly, their minds focused solely on the task at hand.

It was then that Selena heard a sound that made her blood run cold. It was a low, menacing rumble, a sound that seemed to come from the very depths of the earth itself.

She knew what it was before Lady Asclepius spoke. "It's begun," she said, her voice shaking. "The storm is upon us."

Selena watched as the clouds grew thicker, the sky turning a sickly greenish hue. Lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the city below. The wind began to howl, a deafening roar that drowned out all other sounds.

As the storm approached, Selena felt a surge of power welling up within her. She closed her eyes, focusing her thoughts, and felt the power of the storm coursing through her veins.

She opened her eyes and saw that her skin had taken on an unearthly glow. She felt invincible, as if nothing in the world could harm her.

The approaching storm was unlike anything she had ever seen. It was a swirling mass of darkness, a vortex of destruction that seemed to consume everything in its path. Lightning flashed within its depths, and the wind howled with a ferocity that made Selena's bones ache.

She knew that there was little time left. She turned to Asclepius and Zeno, her voice ringing with command. "Get to safety," she said. "I'll handle this."

Without waiting for a response, Selena leapt from the balcony, her silver robes billowing around her. She landed in the courtyard below, her gaze fixed on the approaching storm.

She knew what she had to do. She would draw upon the power of the storm, harness its energy, and use it to protect her people.

She raised her hands to the sky, calling forth the power of the heavens. The clouds above responded, swirling faster and faster until they formed a massive funnel.

Selena felt the power of the storm coursing through her, filling her with a strength that she had never known. She focused her thoughts, and the funnel began to grow, expanding until it was larger than the palace itself.

The storm raged around her, with wind and rain lashing at her body. But Selena stood firm, her eyes fixed on the swirling mass of darkness.

Then, with a burst of energy, she released the funnel. It shot upward, piercing the heart of the storm.

Instantly, the winds died down, and the rain stopped. The dark clouds began to dissipate, their power consumed by Selena's magic.

Selena watched as the funnel dissipated, the last remnants of the storm carried away on the wind. She breathed a sigh of relief, feeling the weight of the world lift from her shoulders.

When she turned around, she saw that the city was still standing. The palaces and towers still stood tall, and the people had been moved to safety.

Selena knew that there would be hard days ahead. She would have to rebuild her kingdom, restore order to the land, and regain the trust of her subjects.

But she was ready for the challenge, for she was more than just a queen. She was a goddess, and she would always be there to protect her people, no matter what the cost.

As the sun set, the sky turned from orange to a deep, rich purple. The stars began to twinkle in the sky, and the moon rose like a giant pearl. The cool night breeze swept through the gardens of the palace, carrying with it the scent of the lavender and jasmine that bloomed there. The sound of music and laughter filled the air, echoing across the great hall.

The garden was ablaze with light as a thousand candles flickered and danced in the gentle breeze, illuminating the paths and flower beds. The towering trees cast long shadows on the ground, adding to the magical atmosphere. In the center of the garden stood a grand gazebo, draped in silken fabric and adorned with exotic flowers and sparkling jewels.

The Queen of the North, Sariya, stood at the entrance of the gazebo, greeting guests as they arrived. She was resplendent in a gown of ice-blue silk that glimmered like a frozen lake in the moonlight. Her long, silver hair was braided and adorned with diamonds and pearls, and she wore a crown of ice crystals that sparkled and shone.
