Chapter 81: The Great Council

Third Person’s Point of View

One afternoon, she found herself in the castle's library, pouring over old texts and scrolls. She had always loved reading, and the library was one of her favorite places in the castle. As she read through the texts, she stumbled upon a scroll that caught her attention.

It was an old prophecy, foretelling a great threat that would one day come to the kingdom. Zeno had read this scroll before, but this time something about it caught her attention. She couldn't shake the feeling that this prophecy was somehow connected to her restlessness.

She spent the next few days researching the prophecy and trying to decipher its meaning. She talked with her advisors and consulted with the kingdom's seers. They all told her the same thing: the prophecy was vague, and they had no way of knowing when or how it would come true.

But Zeno couldn't shake the feeling that the prophecy was somehow important. She decided to take matters into her own hands and began to prepare her kingdom for any potential threat.

She ordered the construction of new barriers and fortifications around the kingdom's borders. She increased the size of the royal army and began to train her guardians in new, innovative battle strategies. She even consulted with neighboring kingdoms, seeking their advice and wisdom.

Months passed, and nothing happened. Zeno began to wonder if she had been overreacting. But then, one day, a messenger arrived at the castle gates with urgent news.

There was a neighboring kingdom, one that had been peaceful for years, that had suddenly declared war on Zeno's kingdom. The message was clear: they intended to invade and take over.

Zeno knew that this was the threat she had been preparing for. She ordered her guardians to mobilize, and they marched out to meet the invading force.

What followed was a fierce battle, with both sides taking heavy losses. But Zeno's guardians were well trained, and their strategies proved to be effective. They were able to hold off the invaders, which eventually forced them to retreat.

Zeno had won the battle, but she knew that her kingdom was not yet safe. She spent the next few months fortifying her kingdom's borders even further, determined to never let her guard down again.

The incident had caused Zeno to realize something important: the realm she ruled was not just a place she had inherited, but it was her home. She had devoted her life to it and would continue to do so. She would never let her people fall prey to another invasion.

From that day forward, Queen Zeno ruled her kingdom with an even greater sense of pride and determination. She had faced a great threat but had emerged stronger for it. And as long as she was queen, her kingdom would always remain safe and secure.

As the sun rose over the kingdom of Krea, Queen Evionna stood atop her palace, overlooking the capital part of Krea. Her silver hair shimmered in the light as she gazed out over her realm.

Today was a significant day, for the Great Council was due to convene. All the rulers from the various kingdoms of Adasmus would be in attendance, including her most detested rival, Queen Adlire.

Evionna had hoped she would be able to avoid Sylvanas at the council, but it seemed as though fate had other plans. The two queens had a long and bitter history, dating back centuries, and every interaction between them was fraught with tension.

As she descended from her palace, Evionna couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. She knew that the decisions made at the council would have a significant impact on her kingdom, and she feared what Queen Sylvanas might suggest.

She made her way to the council chambers, where the other rulers were already gathered. The room was filled with a cacophony of voices, each vying for attention.

Queen Evionna took her seat at the head of the table, and the room fell quiet. She looked around at the faces of her fellow monarchs, some familiar, others not.

The first to speak was King Zeno, ruler of the dwarves. He spoke of his concerns about the recent goblin uprising and the threat that it posed to his people.

Next was Queen Ram of the Krea trolls, who spoke of the rising tensions between her people and the blood elves. She requested that the council intervene to prevent an all-out war.

One by one, each monarch spoke, each bringing their own concerns and grievances to the table. Finally, it was Queen Sylvana's turn to speak.

Evionna braced herself, knowing that whatever Sylvanas had to say would not be good.

The dark-haired queen rose from her seat, her icy blue eyes scanning the room. "As we all know, the threat of the Old Gods looms over us," she said. "We must take action before it's too late."

Evionna bit back a retort, knowing that Sylvanas was right. The Old Gods were a real and dangerous threat, and if they were allowed to awaken, they would wreak havoc on Adasmus.

"What do you suggest we do?" King Nodumu of Storm Wind asked.

Sylvanas locked eyes with Evionna. "We must unite our kingdoms to face this threat together," she said. "Only together can we overcome the Old Gods."

Evionna wanted nothing more than to disagree with Sylvanas and deny her this opportunity to play the hero, but she knew that the dark-haired queen was right.

Despite their differences, they all had a common enemy, and if they were to stand any chance of defeating the Old Gods, they would need to work together.

"Very well," Evionna said. "I agree. We will create an alliance, one that will stand against the Old Gods and any other threats that may arise."

There were murmurs of agreement from around the room, and Evionna allowed herself a small smile. She had made the right decision, even if it meant working with her most hated rival.

As the council disbanded, Evionna made a mental note to keep a watchful eye on Sylvanas. She trusted her as far as she could throw her, which wasn't very far at all.

As she made her way out of the council chambers, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The alliance with Sylvanas would bring its own set of challenges, but as Queen Evionna knew all too well, power always came at a price.

Queen Lyra stood on the balcony of her palace, gazing out at the area below. She had always loved the view from up here, watching as the people went about their daily lives. But today, she couldn't help feeling a sense of unease. Something was coming; she could feel it in her bones.

She turned to her most trusted advisor, Sinang, who approached her.

"Your Majesty," Sinang said with a small bow. "I have news from the east. The army of the Dark Lord has begun its march towards our borders."

Lyra's heart sank. She had feared this moment would come, but she had prayed that it wouldn't be so soon.

"How many guardians does he have?" Lyra asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

"Reports suggest that he has at least ten thousand, Your Majesty," Sinang replied. "But we cannot be sure. Our scouts have not yet been able to get close enough to their camp to gather accurate information."

Lyra knew that they had to act fast. The Dark Lord was a powerful adversary, and his army outnumbered hers by a significant margin.

"Prepare our forces to march," she said decisively. "We must defend our kingdom at all costs."

As Sinang hurried away to carry out her orders, Lyra turned back to her part. She knew that this battle would be the greatest test of her leadership yet. But she was determined to emerge victorious for the sake of her people.

Meanwhile, in the neighboring kingdom of Eldoria, Queen Hemera was also preparing for war. She had received news of the Dark Lord's army and had wasted no time gathering her own troops.

"Your Majesty," her guardian wolf, Clio, said as he entered the war room. "Our scouts have returned with new information. The Dark Lord's forces have split into two groups, with one heading towards our eastern border and the other towards the west."

Hemera nodded, considering her options. She could split her army in two to defend both borders, but that would leave them vulnerable to attack from both sides. Alternatively, she could concentrate her forces on one border and hope that the other kingdom would be able to hold off the enemy.

After much deliberation, Hemera made her decision. She would focus her army on defending the eastern border, where the Dark Lord's forces were strongest. Hopefully, the kingdom to the west would be able to fend off the smaller group of guardians.

"The eastern border it is," Hemera said firmly. "We march at dawn."

Over in the kingdom of Adasmus, Queen Evionna was facing a different kind of battle. Her people were not under immediate threat from the Dark Lord's army, but that didn't mean they were safe. The enemy could strike at any moment, and she had to be ready.

"Your Majesty," her advisor, Sinang, said as she entered the throne room. "We have received word from our allies in the south. They have pledged their support in the event of an attack from the Dark Lord."

Evionna breathed a sigh of relief. She had known that she couldn't face this enemy alone, and the support of her neighbors was a welcome relief.

"Thank you, Sinang," Evionna said with a smile. "Please send word of our gratitude to our allies. And make preparations for any refugees who may need our help."

Sinang nodded and hurried out of the room to carry out her orders. Evionna knew that she had to be prepared for the worst, even as she hoped for the best.

As the three queens prepared for war, the Dark Lord himself was deep in thought. He had always known that he would have to face these queens one day, but he had hoped to do so on his own terms. His plans had been accelerated by the arrival of a powerful artifact in his possession, one that he believed would give him the edge he needed to defeat his enemies once and for all.

"The time has come," he said to his guardian wolves, his voice low and menacing. "We march to war."

The army of the Dark Lord began its march towards the three kingdoms, ready to face whatever lay ahead. And as the sun rose over the horizon, the stage was set for a battle that would go down in history.
