Chapter 58 The Masked Man
Chapter 58 The Masked Man
Aiyana's P.O.V
My knives for some reason felt too heavy in my pockets. Something screamed at me tivbe in guard but I brushed it off, knowing very well that there are so many men already fighting off the people that attacked us.
Still feeling the weird anxiety creep up my neck, I relented and brought out my knives. One in my left hand and the other in my right, suddenly feeling grateful for the pants that Jerome had specially tailored for me the second he realised that I was good with knives.
My whole body was littered in goosebumps when I felt the cold air hit my back. Someone had just entered into the room too fast and too quietly.
Knowing that the window wasn't one that should be broken through so quietly, I felt fear for a second as if I learned anything from Gerald, that meant an assassin.
Trained to kill, trained to infiltrate, I froze for a second but as soon as I saw the shadow I was looking out for, I threw the first knife in that direction that earned me the noise that felt like music to my ears.
He grunted, only grunted from a deep stab
‘Oh my God' I whispered in my head knowing how loud a scream would have grown out of me at such pain.
Yes, it made me even more scared but at the same time, I was excited to finally use my knives. Jerome would have rather had his hands cut off than let me fight.
“Why don't you just pretend like you didn't see anything little girl. It'd be such a shame to kill such a pretty woman.” He grunted out as he came out of the shadows, my knife now in his hands, held like his weapon but instead of responding, I threw the second knife with an aim to his neck but he dodged.
He was definitely here to kill Jerome, but he'd have to kill me first. Hopefully not.
Taking my stance, I wait for him to approach and he did, so fast my eyes almost didn't catch his movements but thankfully I was moved in time to block the fatal attack.
Every move he made was towards an organ that would most definitely fail if stabbed. Ever time I dodged, my heart beat even faster knowing that every second was a fight for my life.
Managing to land another stab, I felt like a maniac at the triumph and high it gave me. Well, that was until his knife met the skin on my arms.
The shock from the cut distabilised be for a few seconds and before I could blink, I was thrown to the ground with the black masked assassin’s knife mere inches to my face.
Blocking it in time was supposed to give some relief but instead, swear poured from my firead to my eyes as I use every single muscle power I had left in my arms to hold off his knife attack on my face.
Both my arms were in front of my face as he pressed down hard. After some seconds, my hands faltered and he raised the knife up again and I knew very well that this time, he would not miss.
Bracing myself for impact, I close my eyes waiting for the pain, the shock or whatever to hit me but it didn't. Instead, I heard his loud grunt as he tools over me violently after being kicked off by Jerome.
“Hi Princess, I'm sorry it took me so long to wake up.” He caressed my face as he apologised and although I felt so much relief seeing him awake, and didn't want him to feel bad by saying that this wasn't the time for us to be doing this, I yelled out as the masked man had regained some composure and was now sneaking behind us.
“Behind you!” I yelled as I unconsciously dragged him down with me to dodge the masked man's attack but he had other plans. I didn't plan to hear the gunshot that I heard as we fell to the ground but I saw the man also fall and actually hang lifeless on the window area.
“I'm so sorry love.” He held my arm with tears glistening in his eyes, looking so worried. One would think he had never seen blood or a wound before but I reveled in the feeling of his care. As I smiled faintly, his eyes suddenly turned murderous.
“I let him off too easy.” I growled out and asked that the body be flogged before thrown into the woods.
At his words, I questioned whether the man was sane or in fact a psychopath like the rumors had always suggested.
One look into my eyes and I could see that he could tell what I was thinking. Not that I planned to hide it.
“I promise you I'm sane but there's no one on this earth who would harm you and be let off easy if I can help it.” He promises with a kiss and calls on his men who all arrive in less than five minutes,
“Gerald has indeed fully betrayed us. Prepare for a double attack. Any news on the reinforcements from Russia?”
