Chapter 59 A Pinky Promise
Chapter 59 A Pinky Promise
Aiyana's P.O.V
An inaudible argument grabs my attention from the spot Jerome had stated was the only safe spot in the house.
Since this morning, he had followed me everywhere and even us have had to fight a few times just so I could breath a feet away from him.
There was no doubt it was he again who was raising his voice
“That was incredibly stupid. You should know more than anyone that my room was the worst place to have her in!” He yelled at Biggie who just looks defeated, looking at his feet like I child being corrected. I almost felt bad for him if not for his size but I wasn't going to let him suffer for a decision I made alone as I also knew that it might not just end with this talk.
He got a little too angry sometimes.
“I was the one who forced him to leave me there.” I said, making my presence known as I step out from the back of the huge trailer that hid me for a little while.
“Now, why would you do that? Do you enjoy being in danger?” He turned to me in anger but his voice was way much calmer than when he spoke to Biggie who now looked astonished for whatever reason.
“No, but I had to watch over you.” I respondedm crossing my arms over my chest whether to look more imposing or to look like I was g backing down. Whatever.
I could already tell from how his jaw clenched and the slight squint in his eyes that he was behind pissed now.
Probably from the pent up frustration of having to deal with me wanting to breathe without him on my back the next second.
“Watch over me? How can you watch over me better than the men I have hired and trained for years to?” He asks, walking dangerously close to me and although my whole body willed me to move and create distance, my legs stayed glued to the ground as he approached.
“Tell that to the knife that almost slit your throat in your sleep.” I fired back, now angry that he always wanted to shield me like I was an egg.
Yes, I appreciated the gesture. More than anything but he was not omnipresent or all powerful. I needed to know how to protect myself and loved ones and for once in my life I did.
It may not be a big deal to him but it was to me. The fact that I wasn't all useless and could do something to protect myself and the people I loved was a big fucking deal to me and I would not let him make it feel small.
My friends would have all been by my side had I protected them well.
“No matter what happens. Leave and find safety! How many times do I have to say this?!” He yells at me. His eyes alight with fury one second but as he looks into my eyes, he looks away, looking a bug guilty but then turns to his men who had their heads down and frozen in place like they were not here.
Kidnap her if you have to but keep her safe. Got it?!” He roared out so loud that I was sure every single guard in this mansion heard it, and although I liked his his priority was always to keep me safe, I felt insulted at the same time.
What kind of order was that?
“You're very selfish.” I say to him, not even realising that my eyes were teary until a tear fell down my eyes as I turned to walk away.
“Hey, hey. I'm sorry.” He pleads, reaching out to stop me from leaving and from the corner of my eyes, I could see Biggie silently ushering the men out of the sitting room where we were.
“You're selfish. Do you think you're the only one who wants to keep someone safe? What about you? Don't you ever consider your life and even if you do not, consider the fact that it would kill me to see you die?!” I yekk out as the tears stream down my face, now uncontrollable.
How can someone disregard his own life so much.
“I'm sorry my princess, I just can't stand the thought of you being in harms way.” He said, holding my hands as he looked at me.
I could see that he was totally sincere and bore nothing but concern for me in this moment and almost forgot why exactly I was angry when he was looking at me without restraint like he usually did.
“Promise me you'll guard your life and I'll promise to stay safe. However, where need be, I'll protect you and myself.” I said to him, holding out my finger for a pinky promise that took him a minute.
I could see the hesitation radiate off of him but I knew that he also knew that was the best he was going to get out of me on this.
“I promise.” He sighed, locked his finger with mine and stamped in it with his thumb, pulling me into a hug in the same second.
