Chapter 33 — Searching

Victor's POV:

I needed to find her! I needed to have her back in my arms. I needed her. My wolf was going crazy, howling inside my brain and demanding her back, where she would be safe with us. I was walking back and forth, wanting to find her. The rogues took her—that was all I knew. But where did they take her?

I made the whole pack search with me—every enforcer, everyone who knew how to fight, even if they had just the slightest knowledge of fighting. All those people were expected to come with me and search for their future Luna. We needed to find my baby!

People who were at the party said they had seen the rogues come to the party. They took the Luna and left. My brother was injured, and a guy died trying to protect my girl. He deserved a salute from me. But now, we needed to find her. The rogues didn't have a place. They were all over the place, and they never stayed in one place—but why did they take what was mine?

It was unusual for rogues to take a Luna. They only killed, never abducted—until now. But where would they hide Sophia? They wouldn't walk around with her. They'd either kill her and be over with it or hide her somewhere.

I knew she was alive. I could feel her inside me. On my chest, her name was still written in black ink. If it turned red, that meant my baby was dead or she rejected me. She never rejected me, and she was alive, but our bond was dead. I tried to call her. I tried my best to tell her to come back, to ask where she was, but she couldn't hear me.

She had blocked me. She didn't know how to block her mate, especially me, but I knew something bad had happened, so bad that she had blocked me either by mistake or because of someone interfering with our connection. No one could mess with two mates' connection except the Goddess, but why would she do that? Why would she take my baby away!

I was close to tears, but there was no resting, no stopping. We all needed to search until we found her. We needed her back, and I needed to strangle the rogue who had taken my baby! He was dead meat walking—once I got my hands on him.

We searched everywhere, over our land, on our territory's edge. We even got permission from our neighbor's packs and searched on their territory with their enforcers staying with us to make sure we didn't try anything.

We still couldn't find her. Everyone knew about me searching for my baby girl. Everyone knew that if they even heard about rogues or where they were, they should call us. We did get some random calls, and when we went to the location, we killed every rogue we saw. We killed so many of them, but we still couldn't find my baby girl, no matter how hard we searched. We would ask the rogues about her before we killed them, and they all said they had no idea about the Luna. Some were grateful to be killed. They wanted their lives to end and be over with it.

It had been three months now. Over ninety days, and there was still no Sophia. The season had changed now. We were in summer. Summer had been the days when I had planned to take Sophia swimming and on long walks and picnics, but now, she was gone.

I needed help. My wolf was getting out of control. He wanted to kill. He wanted to take his revenge on everyone. Late at night, he'd tell me it was all Niti's fault because she was the one who had taken her to the party. Other times, he'd say it was Alvin's fault; my brother should have died to protect his Luna.

I'd shake those ideas off and tell myself it was my fault. I was the one who should have kept my baby safe. I was the one who could have helped her. I was the one who should be blamed.

I cried again. I wasn't ashamed to cry anymore. I needed help. I needed my baby. I needed anyone who caught wind of her. They could ask for my soul, and I'd give it, but I needed her. I needed her so badly. I hugged her teddy and cried again. Today, we were home, but tomorrow, we were going after another lead.

I'll keep searching for you, my baby Sophia. Never think that Daddy is giving up on you. Never, baby girl.
