Chapter 40 — Sadistic
The graduation ceremony took almost four hours to finish. Thea spent her time with her classmates because their professor wanted their last day as students to be memorable.
She didn’t want to join them but if she didn’t show up, people might think that she was guilty and was avoiding them. So, without a choice, she stayed at the covered court, but she wasn’t really having fun.
“This is boring,” she whispered to herself after looking around the venue of their graduation party. The place was livelier, but she felt that she didn’t belong. There were thousands of people having fun and she knew some of them.
“Look who’s here!” A woman’s sharp voice made her ears hurt. “It’s Thea! Want to join us?” Thea looked at them. She saw Haley with her ‘friends' who had ruined Thea’s reputation.
There were ten students circling the round table with white decorations. There were a lot of tables and chairs, but some people still chose to stand.
“Do you want to join us?” Haley’s voice was a little bit sarcastic and her were eyes filled with disgust.
“Oh! I thought you didn’t like me because I'm disgusting?” Thea didn’t even blink when she decided to talk back. Why should she be afraid? Although this woman was way too wealthy, Thea knew that she was more attractive and capable.
“Did I say that?” Thea saw hatred in Haley’s eyes as her lips twitched.
“Do I need to remind you what happened? I never thought that a woman from a wealthy family would have such a terrible memory. I wonder how you managed to do well in school.” Thea's statements made Haley crazy.
It was Haley’s first time being embarrassed in front of so many people. No one ever talked nonsense to her since everyone knew that she came from a wealthy family. Her family pampered her with money and material things. So, she thought, it would always be the same.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Are you afraid?” Thea asked. She was in a bad mood because she needed to postpone Tristan’s offer because of Ace. At least she could take out her mood on this woman.
It was not really a big moment because other people were doing their own thing. Only a few students near them focused on them. Some were looking pitifully at Thea, and others were excited to see who was going to win.
Thea crossed her arms in front of her chest and chuckled sarcastically. Her delicate features lit up, and her eyes glinted like fireworks in the night. Her teasing expression made Haley’s mood darker and darker.
“Actually, I’m afraid that your husband might pick you up today and you might blame me if you end up crying.” Although Haley was angry to her core, she still needed to compose herself and pretend that she was not affected.
“You’re really a genius! I never thought that you would guess right.”
Hearing Thea's reply, Haley smirked as if she would literally win. In her mind, why would she compete with someone married to a disgusting man? Hayley found out about Thea because her father once mentioned her name and told Hayley not to mess with her.
But because she was not really an obedient child, she had crossed the line. She didn’t just hate Thea, she despised her. Thea was the reason Haley always came in second. She had always been a shadow and she hated it!
“Moron, I don’t really intend to show him to all of you but if you like, you can take a glimpse.” Thea was so confident. Watching her reaction, a lot of people were curious about who her husband was.
Although Thea was a loner and had no friends in school, she also had a lot of silent admirers. They admired her not just because she was beautiful but because of her talents and personality. She was quite unique and catchy.
“If you’ll excuse me, I'm going to go somewhere else.” With that, she walked away and didn’t care that they watched her. She sighed and shrugged her shoulders. It was good that she had finally graduated and would not be around these people anymore.
Her phone suddenly vibrated. She grabbed her cell phone, then opened it to read the text message.
“Sweetheart, where are you? Is the graduation party not over yet? Would you like me to be there?”
Her face flushed when her ‘husband' texted her. Goodness! Who was this man?! Why was he so sweet and hot? Moron, she had only just got to the party, yet Ace was already asking if she was done?
“I mean, what the hell?”
