Chapter 157 GAMBIT

Chapter 157 GAMBIT

LUCIEN

"Say cheese."

"What?" Enoch panicked, and Yvette ran towards him. "How dare you do something like this?"

"Oh, something like what? Gather evidence?" I ask, and he looks even more offended. I can't believe that they trusted that I was just going to accept their terms and go along with it. Did they think I wouldn't fight back? Would that have made any sense to them? Shouldn't they have been more cautious around me?

"This is illegal."

"Oh no, it's pretty legal," I threw out his logic. "You see, this is my property, and I have every right to record on my property as well as use the footage however I want to."

"You won't use that; I can't let you use that."

"Unfortunately, it is not really up to you at this point."

"What does that mean?"

"Theo is already on his way to the police station. I mean, if he is not in the station already, at least a thousand people should have seen the video now, which means that no matter how you try to hide, there is really no way you can weasel your way out of this one." I clap as if he had just performed.

"Even greater than that, you managed to bring down all of your friends at once."

"You can't do that." He seemed to be searching for a way out of it but was failing at every turn. "It is wrong for you to..."

"I would welcome you to wait inside, but I am sure you don't want to, so maybe you can go home and wait for the police to come get you. You know, for the kidnapping of your daughter and the murder of my parents."

"I will get out of this."

"See that?" I point to the camera to remind him that it was still filming. "And if anything happens to me, you can be sure that everyone is going to be looking at you and your little friends, so if I were you, I'd even send a team to guide me."

His phone began to ring loudly, and by the look on his face, it was obvious that he would not like who was on the other side of the line. "See what you've caused," he cried out angrily. "How dare you try something like this?"

"Your business partners are calling, aren't they?"

"This is your revenge?" He seemed shocked that I was going ahead with the revenge even after I had given them my word that I was not going to do it.

"Oh no, it's not," I say with a toothy smile. "I was going for something far simpler than this, but you pushed my buttons when you took my wife. You see, I can take a lot of things, but you do not mess with my wife."

"We did not take your wife..." he tried to wiggle his way out of it. The sound of the continuous ringing of his phone filled the background aggressively.

"Already too late, okay? The entire world already heard you confess it." I take out my phone and do a quick search, showing him how well people were searching the post, sharing and tagging the social media pages of the Thamore corporation.

"You know, I was hoping to make sure you lost your company because I did not have evidence that you and Wolfe killed my parents. No matter how much I searched, it always turned up nothing, but now that you've confessed, I am sure something will turn up, something that is going to lead us in the right direction."

"Also, now your kids do not get to have the company that was built on corruption." I smack my lip and then point to their car. "You'd better get going and wait at home for the cops to show up."

"So where is Nirelle?" Yvette rushed to me and held my hand. "She is safe, right? Isn't she?"

"Did she suddenly become important to you? After all you and he put her through? "She is your daughter, for god's sake." I pull my hand out of hers angrily, and she stumbles back.

"Is she safe?" she asked, this time her voice cracking and tears in her eyes. Was she suddenly playing the concerned mother for the camera?

"The security would see you out." I do not respond to her as I turn on my heel and walk into the house, leaving them alone outside. I am happy that this has worked out. I had to wait for them to be taken fully into police custody before I went to get Nirelle to warn them about coming close to her and endangering her.

"Have the police got the video yet?" I ask Theo as I climb to the third floor.

"I do not even need to get to it or them; at this rate, they have all seen it and are scrambling to get a warrant." I want to cut him off, but he goes on. "But I am still on my way to see the commissioner."

"Okay then."

"How did it go?" Was he asking because he hadn't seen the video yet?

"We have enough to settle things with Enoch, Wolfe and Olivia, but not the children," I say, as that had been bugging me. "Yvette, Cory and Cassian are still out."

"You are missing one person." His words made me wonder what he meant.

"Cassian's mother"

"What about her?"

"She seems to be a silent killer, and if we do not get to her then..."

"I doubt they would do anything dangerous at this point. "All eyes should be on them," I say, not wanting to think that she would actually want to fight for her family.

"But still, it's better if we settle it all at once. Do you want me to reveal the list of ghost surgeries that have been performed at her hospital in the last three years?"

"Make it seem like a random person on the internet found it."

"We can press into Yvette more," he added. "We just need some proof that she kidnapped the kid when they were young."

"We do," I nod as I try to think. She would refuse to go on and might want to hold onto the littlest thing from the Thamore name that she can get. "You try what you can with Cassian and his mom. I will try what I can with Yvette."

"What about Cory?"

"He is powerless without his father; I do not think we need to worry about him.

"I do not think we should say that. He could be pretending to be an airhead and wants to seek revenge as well."

"Does he deserve to seek revenge after what his father put me through?" I mumbled under my breath and then inhaled sharply. "Okay, find some dirt on him that can put him in jail for at least five years."

"On it," Theo sounded almost too excited to be doing this.

"I have to say, Theo, you seem more excited than I am to be doing this."

"Who knew that revenge plotting could be this fun?"

"You keep having fun, but..."

"I will get the work done."

I settle into the living room on the third floor; the sofa not only reminds me of my parents and sister but also of Nirelle when we had both cuddled on it and spoken at length that day.

"Fuck! I miss her," I murmur as I dial Zane's number.

"Hi, I am seeing all the madness. Do you need me back?" Zane asked as soon as the call connected.

"I need your eyes at all times on Nirelle, but I do need you for something else," I say, and I hear a sound of approval from the back of his throat.

"I need Michael to testify about how Yvette got you and Nirelle kidnapped eleven years ago."

"I do not think he would do it."

"Why not?"
