Chapter 156 SAY CHEESE
Chapter 156 SAY CHEESE
LUCIEN
I knew that Enoch was coming; my eyes on him had said he went to the original site where he was holding Nirelle and did not bother to check the hospital, which meant Yvette had confessed, or he had figured it out by himself, or both. But to me, it did not matter which was which; I had to make sure that this moment counted more than anything else.
Enoch charged at me as if he could beat me if we got in a fight. I allow him to hit me with his fist because I have the cameras around to catch it, and that way I can file for self-defence. He tumbled over and then rushed towards me again; this time, Yvette's shrill, scared voice filled the night air.
"Don't stop me," Enoch said as he lifted his hand to hit me in the face, but his hand never got down. I stopped him before he could. "What are you doing?" he asked, his eye flaring with anger as he tried to wiggle his way out of it.
"Stopping you from hitting me," I said, pulling him gently and then pushing him out of the way. He tried his best not to fall to the ground. He stood his ground and was ready to charge at me again. This time, I stepped out of the way, and he went flying in the air. "What is this about?" I ask because now three times is enough embarrassment for him. He stands away from me as he removes his tie and throws it to Yvette; she bends to pick it up but is soon hit with his jacket in the air.
"Instead of trying to beat me and failing, why don't you explain why you've stormed into my house today?"
"Don't act as if you don't know what this is about," he screamed in the air. "Before you can drag me, I am going to make sure I give you the beating of a lifetime. The only reason you are acting this way is because you were never beaten by your family," he screamed.
"Did you beat Cory?" My question stopped his hasty unbuttoning of his sleeves. "I mean, if you did, then it would be a shame that he still turned out to be an airhead."
Nirelle had told me all about them; Cory did not know how to do a single thing. "I wonder how you intend for him to run the business," I add, and he points his finger in my face.
"Don't you dare talk about my son like that." He was already walking towards me. I should take a step back, but I do not because I can take him even if he tries, and I wanted as much evidence on the cameras as I could get.
"Like how?" I shrug.
"You do not have the right to talk to me like this." I take a deep breath. He was making the conversation difficult as he kept going all over the place.
"Okay, but you have to go now if you have nothing else to do here."
"Where is Nirelle?" He screamed at me, and this was the part I loved. He was just about to dig a pit for himself, and he would be covered in more earth than he had dug up.
"How am I supposed to know?" I ask with my hand in the pocket of my sweatpants. "You kidnapped her, and yet you stand here to ask me about her? Did I take her?"
"Where is she?" He screamed again, and now all I had to do was make sure that he confessed to the crime. Even better if he called the names of his accomplices; that way, I do not have to go after them one after the other.
"She is no longer in the warehouse where I kept her."
"Did I go anywhere near the warehouse?" I asked. "You can call your men to ask them; I am sure they had men stationed right outside ready to shoot me if I came anywhere near." Theo had seen them all armed with long guns securing the perimeters, which was why, when Yvette moved her, she made our job a little easier.
"I think you should ask your wife where she is." Yvette looked at me as if I had pointed a gun in her face.
"I have told you all I know." Her voice was in a hurry. The kind was that ready to confess everything. "I moved Nirelle to a psychiatric ward, but she is no longer there..."
"Then where did you take her?" Enoch was back to pointing his finger in my face again. "Where is she?"
"I'm sorry, are you telling me that I am holding up my end of the deal, and you both do not know where you kept her anymore?" He looks at me and maybe realises that I was not lying. His realisation was a bit funny because it meant that my acting was too flawless to nitpick about.
I run my hand through my hair as he tries to make sense of what is going on. "Oh wow, maybe you should ask one of your accomplices; maybe they moved her," I said, and he suddenly realised that could be true.
"That Mr Wolfe always wants the bigger cut for himself," he said as he struggled with his phone. "Where is Nirelle?" he asked.
"What do you mean?" Wolfe was on the other side. It sounded as if he was drifting to sleep, and someone had forcefully woken him up. "You had her; why are you asking me thus? Does it mean she has escaped?" His voice cleared up a bit and was loud enough to hear.
I just prayed that Theo did not screw up the camera, and the sound was loud enough so that everyone who would ever see the video won't think otherwise.
"I had her, but she is nowhere to be found." Enoch's voice was panicked now as he realised the situation. I just stood calmly because I wanted them to be done before I began to speak.
"What? Did you call Olivia? Maybe she moved her out of anger since the wedding got delayed," Wolfe said almost immediately. I liked how free they were at saying such things around me. Maybe they were convinced that they really didn't have anything to hide.
"Oh yes, that is true." He cuts off the call and dials Olivia. She picks up after three calls.
"What is it? Am I not going through enough already? Do you have to add yours to it?" She was tipsy, meaning she was out drinking. This was going to be so much more fun than I had planned.
"Where is Nirelle?"
"Didn't you have her?"
"I had her but..."
"Old man, don't tell me you've lost her," she groaned in frustration.
Enoch cut off the call and turned to me, holding both phones with one hand. "I should go find her," he said with fear in his eyes.
"Oh, really?" You lost her, so I am going to put my team on it to find her," I say, and he shakes his head.
"No no no." He was taking a step closer, and I could not let him. "That would mean the deal would be off, and you are going to take your revenge on me."
"What revenge?" I ask.
"Are you seriously playing this game?"
"I am seriously wondering why you think I am going for revenge," I ask, and he frowns.
"You blame us for your family's death, and maybe you..."
I lift my finger in the air to his face. "Thank you so much for your confession, and I really do not have to lift a finger to put you all away. You honestly made my job so much easier." The smile on my face is as wide as it can be.
"What...what do...d...do you mean?" He stuttered badly, and I pointed to the camera blinking right above us.
"Say cheese."
