Chapter 64 Pay Back
Adrian's POV.
I stormed out of Cassandra's apartment and when I checked my phone, I could see new updates popping up on the media.
“Is that Adrian Kane on Cassandra Vale's live show?”
“They said they weren't together, what the hell is this?”
“What are we supposed to believe now?”
Many other comments popped up, making me tired of reading as I walked.
I got into my car and drove off but when the beeping sound of my phone was heard, indicating that someone was starting a live show, I was forced to hold the wheel with one hand, using the other to check the phone.
It was Cassandra again. I parked the car, clicking on her live show to check what it was all about.
She starts a live show right after I leave her house?
“I apologize for ending the live that way earlier,” she started and tens of comments were already on her screen, all asking the same question.
“Was that Adrian Kane who ended the live show?”
“Tell us, was Adrian Kane really in your house just now?”
“What's going on between you two?”
Cassandra took her time to read the comments before taking a deep breath and straightening her back.
“Relax,” she said. “I will reply to your questions.”
Her face suddenly turned gloomy, her lips getting pressed as she looked like she wanted to cry.
She quickly picked a handkerchief which she had placed somewhere around her and wiped her eyes with it.
Fake. All acting!
Comments continued to fill the screen. “Oh my god! Did he do something to her?”
“Tell us what happened!”
I had stopped driving and only leaned back into the car seat, also anticipating what she had to say. One thing was certain, she was going to talk about me.
“He choked me. He was trying to kill me,” Cassandra held her neck, starting to act fully.
I left her live show without hesitation. She's completely trying to ruin me and turn the public against me.
I won't be letting that happen.
I resumed driving, calling attorney Andrew at the same time.
He picked up on the first ring and his voice rose even before mine.
“I saw the news, Mr. Kane,” he said. “What should we do about it?”
“Cover them all up,” my voice was sharp, cold, cutting through the sound of the car engine.
“I don't want to see any single news about my father or about Cassandra's tantrum on the internet,” I emphasized.
“Understood sir.” He paused. “What should we do about the current live show she's holding?”
“I'll take care of it,” I ended the call, not waiting for a response.
I put a call across to my assistant and he also picked up immediately.
“Good evening, boss,” he greeted.
I ignored his greetings, moving to say what I had to say without delay.
“Cassandra Vale is holding a live show on her page right now.” I told him. “Get the emergency solution team to get her account banned
immediately”
“I need her off that show in five minutes” I added. “Add hints that leads to me being the doer of the action”
“Understood sir. I'll get to it right away” The call ended.
That is the reason why I run a tech company afterall. Cassandra thinks she can win but I'll keep letting her know these games will never be hers.
I put a call across to David. “Inform the press, I will be holding a public interview in front of the company in twenty minutes”
“I got the message, sir,” he replied.
“Cassandra is trying to frame me up. I need to make the public believe I was in her apartment because she made me come there,” I paused. “Take care of that.”
Once again, the third call in cleaning this whole mess ended and I headed towards the company.
Five minutes later, my phone rang loudly. I checked the caller ID to see Cassandra's number on the line.
I picked it up, my face fixed on the road, ears strained to listen to what she had to say.
I realized my ex girlfriend had gone crazy way beyond what I had expected when she yelled, her loud voice getting on my nerves so fucking much.
“Who do you think you are, Adrian?!” She yelled. “Tell me!”
I scoffed, rolling my eyes before bringing them back to focus on the road.
“Someone powerful enough to make you lose your cherished Insta page,” I replied calmly.
“What have I done to you?” She was starting to break. “What did I do so wrong?”
“I should be asking you that question, Cassandra.” My face darted to my phone for a second. “Why are you so bent on ruining me?”
“I want you and you know that!” She yelled. “If I can't have you, then why the hell should I give a damn about what happens to you?”
I took a deep breath. “I have an interview in ten minutes, Cassandra. I don't have the time to talk to you.”
I ended the call immediately, cutting her next words off.
The twenty minutes I talked about was up and I was already in front of the company.
Reporters who had gotten the update swarmed in front of me, their flashes going in multiple folds, voices overlapping each other.
“Is it true that you built your empire with fraud? Corruption included?”
“Do you think you still deserve the position of the head of this tech company?”
Many other questions were asked and I was calm about all of them.
Guards prevented the reporters from getting to me while I looked around, eyes calmly going through everyone.
“Did you call us here just to have us look at you?” Someone asked.
I gave no reply to any of their words. A few minutes later, the reporters all went silent, tired of having me stare back at them without responding to any of their words.
None of them left, but silence finally reigned.
At that moment, I adjusted my suit, taking two steps towards them.
“I'm not here to beg or to answer your questions,” I said, voice calm. Cameras flashed again but none of them raised their voices to ask questions.
“This empire is mine. Read my lips, no other person can take ownership of my company.”
