Chapter 63 Anonymous Mastermind

Chapter 63 Anonymous Mastermind
Adrian's POV.

The shock on Cassandra's face didn't fade. She continued looking at me that same way.

I wasn't here to read her face, I was here to ask questions and seek answers.

“Dera. That girl told me everything. There's no need for you to lie,” I said.

The shock on her face disappeared, getting replaced with a nervous look.

She looked away from me and swallowed hard.

“Why did you do it?” I asked.

Cassandra snapped her face back to me and her red painted lips curled into a smirk.

“Does it hurt?” She laughed. “Yes, I want it to hurt.”

I kept my cool. I didn't need to give her the reaction she wanted. She was trying to see if it really hurts..

It does but I wasn't showing her a weakness, not now, not ever.

I held her firmly, pinning her tightly against the wall. “Answer my goddamn question, Cassandra!” I snapped.

She tilted her head to the side, a smile on her face.

“You think you are the only one who can play a game?” She laughed. “Then try to win this one.”

“I already told you that you will regret it, didn't I?” She looked proud, a grin on her face.

“You picked a good game, Cassandra,” I laughed back at her. “But what do we do? You are not the owner of this game, you are just a pawn stuck in between.”

She creased her forehead at what I had just said.

“I heard you didn't come up with the idea,” I told her. “You have someone behind you.”

Her face dropped and her breath hitched. “Dera, that wench!” She whispered to herself.

I laughed. “I guess the girl is so good at snitching that she hears more than you let on.”

“Shut your goddamn mouth, Adrian!” She snapped. “Leave my house! You've overstayed a welcome you were never given!”

“I won't be leaving here without getting a response to the question I have,” I said firmly. “Who is the person backing you?”

“You both share the same goal which is my downfall. Who is it?” I asked.

Cassandra swallowed hard once more and her face turned. The same way it always did whenever she's getting determined about something.

“I have nothing to tell you,” she said. “So, leave!”

“I just said it loud and clear,” I spat, voice getting harsh. “I won't be leaving here until I get a response that satisfies me.”

Cassandra went silent and only stared at me. She didn't say a word and I also stared back. Suddenly, she pushed me off her, running away from my grasp.

I should have known that she was looking for an opening to escape my grasp. I turned around immediately and she had grabbed her phone, leaning on the wall at the other end while her face was on me.

“Don't come close!” She glared at me. “I'm going to call the security. You just trespassed into my house!”

Threatening me? That won't work on me.

I moved closer even when she told me not to. I'd barely taken three steps when she showed me the screen of her phone.

“See! I'm serious!” Her phone screen showed the emergency number already punched into the keyboard, just for the green dial button to be pressed.

I didn't care about the security at the moment. I stormed to her and while I walked towards her, she dialed the number.

I snatched her phone before she could say a word to the phone and ended the call, throwing her phone to the sofa which was nearby.

I pinned Cassandra to the wall again, this time my hand on her neck, choking her.

She pummeled my hand, her face turning and her breath hitching.

“I won't be leaving here until you tell me who that is, Cassandra,” I said. “You really want to keep your mouth shut? Then try me.”

“You might die in the process,” I added.

“Let go of me,” she pummeled my hand, her voice barely audible as she tried to make me let go of her but that wasn't happening.

I might end up going to prison for murder if she dies but that became the least of my worries at the moment.

“I'll tell you,” she croaked. “Let go of me first.”

I knew how stubborn Cassandra could be. Even though it looked like she was dying, if she was never going to tell, she won't say those words even if it means death for her.

I let go of her and she held her throat, coughing uncontrollably.

Her face snapped back to me, her eyes flaring with hatred, face burning with anger.

“I don't know who it is,” she yelled, her eyes now teary.

Was she fucking kidding with me?

“He only messaged me via SMS. He wants you down and he looks like he knows a lot about you!” She said. “I only did what he asked me to do.”

I didn't reply to her words and only headed to get her phone, handing it to her to unlock.

“There's nothing there. We agreed to delete messages immediately after they are read,” she said.

Not that I didn't believe her, I needed to see by myself.

“Just unlock it!” I said, voice calm and dark.

She unlocked the phone without further complaints. I checked through her SMS and saw the message likely to be the one she's talking about.

She has one message from him. “I can see the news. You made it happen, haha.”

My jaws clenched.

“Don't try to look into him,” Cassandra said. “I'm not stupid not to have tried.”

“He's using a burner phone. There's no way you can get through to him.”

I laughed, smashing her phone to the sofa and watching it bounce.

Cassandra laughed seeing me getting angry.

“It's been a while since I've seen you all worked up.” She laughed again.

“You are done for, Adrian Kane. There's someone who can take you down after all.” She flipped her hair.

I stared at her, my face darkened. “The mastermind of the plan and you, who he made his pawn, will suffer.”
