Chapter 123

Chapter 123
Sienna's pov

I immediately ducked behind Martha.

"Who are you? Back off!"

The last time I saw Zach, he left a terrible impression. Just because he took me to the hospital didn't mean he got a free pass to cross the line.

"Sienna , you don't seem like someone with amnesia," Zach said, circling Martha to get to me. I kept hiding, and soon we were doing laps around the living room.

Growing impatient, I snapped, "Spit it out. Why do you keep getting close to me?"

Zach's face lit up with realization, and he nodded. "Now I'm even more certain you don't have amnesia."

Was he bluffing, or did he really figure it out?

I couldn't be sure, so I had to keep pretending.

"Stop talking nonsense. You haven't even told me your name. What did Harrison ask you to do?"

After a long pause, Zach seemed to give up and sighed. "Of course, I'm here to keep you company. Harrison is busy; he was worried he might not be able to take care of you, so he asked me to come."

There seemed to be something hidden in those few seconds of silence.

"He asked a guy to keep me company?" I seized the opportunity to ask. "By the way, don't I have any female friends?"

As if finding a new breakthrough, I quickly turned to Martha. "Martha, tell me, where are my good friends?"

I couldn't directly mention Luna's name, and I didn't dare to talk to Luna openly on my phone.

Harrison hadn't mentioned Luna since I returned the second day.

I had no idea how she was doing now.

Martha replied, "Um... I'm not sure, but I think Mr. Harrison Blackwood can get in touch with her."

Zach waved his hand dismissively. "Friends? If she were really a good friend, wouldn't she know you were out of prison? I don't think she cares much about you. If you have any issues, talk to me."

"Harrison won't harm you, and neither will I."

His last sentence was particularly meaningful, clearly implying something.

I paused and then changed the subject. "Didn't Harrison say he got me a computer? Where is it? I want to see it."

"It's in Mr. Harrison Blackwood's study. I'll go get it."

After Martha went upstairs, I sat back on the couch, and Zach followed me.

He even sat in the armchair nearby, not bothering to keep a distance.

"Now it's just the two of us. You don't need to worry. Just tell me, why are you pretending to have amnesia?"

I glared at him. "You insist I have amnesia, so I have nothing to say."

Zach snorted. "Harrison likes you and is worried, so he believes you. But anyone else wouldn't buy such a lie. Prison isn't a great place, but it wouldn't cause amnesia."

He lowered his voice. "With Harrison 's influence, it's not hard to find out what you went through in prison. He'll soon discover you're pretending. When that happens, what do you think Harrison will do to you?"

I clenched my fists, wanting to deny it, but given the situation, denial wouldn't help.

"Then let him investigate. I also want to know what I went through in prison."

I forced myself to stay calm and rubbed my head. "Talking about this gives me a headache. Since you're here to keep me company, can you talk about something that makes me happy?"

Noticing that I refused to admit it, Zach didn't press further.

"Something that makes you happy? Let me think."

Thinking back, there wasn't much to be happy about in the past few years, especially since I'd only been out of prison for two days.

"If you don't have amnesia, there's something you might want to hear," Zach said, then quickly shook his head. "No, I can't tell you. Harrison asked me to avoid talking about the past. Just pretend I didn't say anything."

I was exasperated. "Are you doing this on purpose? You brought it up, so how can I not ask?"

"But Harrison told me not to say anything."

Zach shrugged, clearly enjoying this. He was baiting me to ask.

"You already mentioned it, so spill. Otherwise, I'll ask Harrison ."

A lot can happen in two months. Something that would make me happy must be related to Elena. Could it be Classic ? Or Victor?

Zach smiled with satisfaction. "Then remember, you owe me two favors."

He lowered his voice as I heard footsteps from upstairs.

"Two?"

Zach smirked, but I didn't have time to ask further.

"Mrs. Blackwood, here's the computer. Take a look."

Martha opened the computer box, but Zach grabbed it first. "Let me check it out."

"You really like to meddle."

I sat next to Zach and watched him start the computer, then enter the program's backend and type something.

The computer screen displayed some chat records. Upon closer inspection, it was my recent conversation with Julian.

"What... what do you mean?" I quickly checked my phone, but it showed no abnormalities.

The messages Julian sent me appeared on the computer screen.

"Nothing much, just wanted to tell you that if you're going to pretend, do it thoroughly. Because if Harrison wants, he can monitor you completely."

After Zach tapped a few keys, the computer screen returned to normal.

A chill ran through me.

Hacking into my phone wasn't difficult. Someone had once used technology to delete messages sent to me.

"Alright, it's late. You should rest. Do you need me to keep you company?"

I ignored his casual tone and wanted to go back to my room, but Zach stopped me. "I haven't told you the happy news yet. Don't you want to hear it?"

"Next time." I replied hastily and shook him off, heading to my room.

Tonight, I was destined to be sleepless again.

I went through all the chat records.

There were no new messages; the chat interface was empty. For those who had sent messages, the past records were gone.

But now, I couldn't mention the past to anyone.

Living under surveillance, this phone might be monitoring everything.

If I really had amnesia, how great would that be?

I also wanted to escape.

I didn't reply to Julian's messages. Zach stayed at Blackwood Estate, never leaving, always with his laptop.

Sometimes I was curious about what he was doing, sometimes seeing him write programs, sometimes working.

But Zach usually started working at six in the evening, probably related to the Blackwood Group's Valdris division.

Harrison hadn't returned since that night, and I hadn't seen Kaia either.

I thought Kaia's matter was over.

I saw Harrison again ten days later when he came home while Zach was sleeping.

Kaia entered with a medical kit alongside him.

"Mrs. Blackwood, we meet again. I think there's been a misunderstanding between us. Can I have a chance to explain?"
