Chapter 124
Sienna's pov
I felt a surge of unadulterated anger. Why in the world did Harrison choose Kaia? He was fully aware that I couldn't tolerate her, why did he still let her in? And he even brought her in himself.
Ignoring her, I turned to Harrison and asked, "Why is she here again?"
"Kaia insisted on explaining things to you, so I brought her."
Kaia was right there before I could talk. She shifted near and softly placed her grips upon own. "Mrs. Blackwood, please? Even if you don't want me to treat you, I just want to explain."
I pulled my hands away, my voice cold. "You wanting to explain is your business, not mine."
I had to admit, Kaia was more tactful than Elena. Her words didn't immediately make me dislike her.
If I hadn't seen that photo, I might not have disliked her so much.
"I don't know what I did to make you dislike me, Mrs. Blackwood, but Mr. Blackwood and I only met once a long time ago. It's not what you think. He chose me solely because of my medical experience. That's the whole story.
Her explanation meant nothing to me.
"Fine, I get it. You can leave now." I glanced at Harrison . "I don't need a psychologist, Harrison . I heard your good friend is also a doctor. Have him come over next time."
My attitude was clear. I didn't believe Kaia would stay.
Harrison 's face turned cold. "Did you hear that?"
Kaia probably didn't expect Harrison to be so blunt.
"I understand."Kaia's face became rigid. She glanced at Harrison once more before heading out. "Don't worry, Mr. Blackwood. You can always get in touch with me if you need me. Considering our relationship, helping you is no big deal."
Their relationship?
Harrison closed the door and tried to take my hand. I pulled away, feeling distant. "What kind of relationship do you have? It doesn't seem ordinary."
Met once years ago? Just once, and Kaia remembered him for so long?
It seemed odd.
"A very ordinary relationship." Harrison paused, then added, "Not friends, but I need her to help me with some trouble. It's more like mutual use."
"Then why didn't you explain earlier?"
I called Martha to wake up Zach.
"She appeared too suddenly and knew a lot about my past, so it was hard to figure her out. Even now, I haven't fully understood her."
With just the two of us in the living room, after living in Blackwood Estate for half a month, I spoke more boldly to Harrison .
I wanted to be reckless, consequences be damned.
"But She shouldn't have been brought here today. My tone became more icy. "I'm not fond of her. I detest her even more. I believe I've stated that clearly.
Even so, he still brought her back.
Harrison frowned, hesitating several times before finally nodding. "Okay, I understand."
The air instantly grew colder. From what I knew of Harrison , he was angry with me.
After ten days apart, we had so much to say, yet now we were silent.
Why?
All the questions I wanted to ask stopped at my lips.
When Zach came downstairs, he saw the awkward scene.
"Harrison , why didn't you tell me you were coming back? I could've adjusted my schedule."
Seeing our faces, Zach grew serious. "You’re back just now and already fighting? What gives? I’ve told you a thousand times, Harrison —put your pride away when it comes to the person you love." What can't be explained?"
I stood up abruptly. "I'll go back to my room. You two talk."
But Harrison grabbed me, pulling me into his arms.
It had been too long since we were this close. I instinctively tried to pull away.
Harrison held me tightly on his lap.
"If you’re not going to talk, why am I still here? Just to stare at each other?" Zach sat down and shook his head, clearly fed up with the way we were behaving.
"I have something to tell you."
Harrison ’s voice remained rigid, showing no sign of backing down. He had a gentle side, but he never seemed to find it when it came to me—and he almost never apologized for the hurt he’d caused.
When he was in a good mood, he'd say he loved me. When he wasn't, he'd be stubborn, even arguing while explaining.
In those brief ten minutes, I felt the urge to escape again.
"Then say it quickly. Don't hold me like this..."
I struggled, feeling Harrison 's body tense.
He seemed to be getting warmer.
Zach gave a casual shrug. "Sienna , stay still. Harrison ’s only human. Even in broad daylight, with you in his arms, he’s going to have a hard time resisting."
"Shut up!"
"Mind your own business!"
Harrison and I spoke at the exact same time. Zach’s eyes widened for a second before he let out a chuckle. "Okay, maybe I should just go back to sleep. Don't let me stop you two."
Harrison pulled me close, resting his hand on the back of my head as he tucked me against his shoulder. "Grandpa’s birthday dinner is the day after tomorrow. We’ll need to head back to the Blackwood Villa for it."
I couldn't help but shiver.
I couldn't avoid seeing the Blackwood family.
Harrison could cover up my murder, but the Blackwood family would eventually find out.
"Trouble?" Zach’s smile dropped instantly. "The Blackwood Group has been on a roll lately. Catherine really has no reason to be giving you a hard time."
"It's not a big deal." Harrison 's expression grew complicated. "My father has news. He said he's coming back tomorrow."
"Harrison ’s father? Everett? I—I thought he was dead. Harrison hardly ever said a word about him all these years."
"Do you... still want to see him?" Zach asked cautiously. "After he brought you back, he disappeared without a trace. I thought he died in some unknown place."
"He isn’t the type to die easily." Harrison ’s lip curled into a sneer. He tilted my chin up, nipping at it right in front of Zach. "He still hasn’t found who he's looking for. He abandoned the Blackwood family for years..."
From his tone, I felt no respect for Everett.
I had heard some of the previous generation's grudges from Luna. Harrison probably hated Everett now.
"Sienna , what’s going on in that head of yours? Harrison just kissed you, and you didn't even flinch." Zach’s teasing tone made my heart race with nerves.
"How should I react? You were talking, should I slap him?"
I tried to pull away, but Harrison only deepened the kiss, almost as if he were marking his territory. Was he putting on a show for Zach? I stopped fighting him, but I made a mental note of it.
"Bullying me because I don't have a girlfriend." Zach joked. "Maybe I'll find a date for the birthday party."
