Chapter 47 The Sky Has Collapsed

Chapter 47 The Sky Has Collapsed

"You're my daughter, if I don't look after you, who will?"

Marigold urged Julie, "Call Ryan right now and hint at this to him."

Julie said in surprise, "We just had sex, and now I'm already found to be pregnant? Isn't that too fast?"

"What do you know? You just mention it vaguely, let him be mentally prepared in advance."

Seeing that Marigold had a point, Julie nodded, "Okay, I'll call him now."

After dialing, once he picked up, Julie said, "Ryan, where are you?"

Ryan watched Cordelia's retreating figure and frowned, "At the company, what's up?"

Hearing him say he was at the company, Julie's hand gripped the flesh of her palm tightly, holding back the urge to curse, "Ryan, I'm not feeling well. My stomach feels uncomfortable and I want to throw up. I don't know what's wrong. Can you come with me to the hospital?"

Ryan impatiently loosened his tie, "Call the family doctor to check on you first. I'm really busy right now. I'll come see you when I'm done."

Then he added quickly, "I gotta go."

With that, he hung up directly.

Julie stared at her phone through gritted teeth.

Marigold beside her asked anxiously, "What did Ryan say?"

"He said he's working overtime at the company, and told me to see a doctor myself if I'm sick."

Julie said this and couldn't hold back her tears anymore, "Mom, I knew it. As soon as Cordelia came back, she seduced Ryan away. Will Ryan break up with me?"

"No, no, Ryan's not that kind of person."

That's what she said, but Marigold wasn't sure either.

Seeing her cry uncontrollably, Marigold could only comfort her, "Julie, I know you've been wronged. Don't worry, I'll definitely help you marry into the Perez family."

Seeing Marigold's assurance, Julie's emotions finally calmed down a bit.

The two plotted for a while longer before Marigold left.

Ryan had no idea someone was already planning to scheme against him. At that moment, he was anxiously calling Raymond, sweating profusely, asking for money.

"You're asking for over a hundred million dollars just like that, and won't even say what it's for. Ryan, do you think the Perez family's money just appears out of thin air, that you can just ask and it comes?"

Seeing Raymond about to refuse, Ryan panicked, "Uncle Raymond, I'm not messing around. It's Cordelia—she sold the Fox family's heirloom necklace, and I need to buy it back for her."

Hearing it was related to Cordelia, Raymond's voice paused, "What's going on exactly? Explain clearly."

Ryan told him everything about seeing Cordelia sell the necklace, "Uncle Raymond, I'm really not lying. It's that luxury store on Crimson Avenue. The necklace Cordelia sold is still in that store."

Hearing this, Raymond couldn't help but ask, "Why does she need so much money?"

"I don't know either, Uncle Raymond. I asked, but Cordelia wouldn't say."

Ryan said this anxiously, "Uncle Raymond, I'm begging you, please lend me the money. Don't worry, I'll definitely pay you back later."

Raymond pondered on the other end, "Got it."

Seeing Raymond agree, Ryan was overjoyed, "Uncle Raymond, you're my savior."

Raymond didn't want to hear his nonsense and interrupted directly, "Alright, just wait."

After hanging up, Raymond didn't delay and went straight to the luxury store Ryan mentioned.

"A young lady came today and sold a necklace for one hundred and twenty million dollars. I'd like to buy the necklace. Is that possible?"

The clerk looked at the well-dressed Raymond in surprise. Only after he asked again did she snap out of it and nod repeatedly, "Yes, of course, sir."

The necklace was quickly brought out again. After Raymond saw Cordelia's signature on it, he finally breathed a sigh of relief, "Good, that's the one. Wrap it up."

He paid over a million dollars more than what Cordelia had sold it for.

With the item in hand, Raymond felt much more relaxed. When he got back, he didn't make Ryan wait until the afternoon but transferred the money he wanted right away.

When Ryan got the money and rushed to the luxury store, his world collapsed.

The necklace had been sold. How was that possible?

In just half a day, the necklace had been bought by someone. Who? Which bastard bought it?

Ryan shouted angrily, "I don't believe you sold the necklace that fast. Bring it out right now, or I'm not leaving!"

Seeing him being unreasonable, the clerk couldn't take it anymore and pushed him out.

"What's wrong with you? We told you the necklace was sold. Why would we lie to you?"

Pushed onto the street, Ryan couldn't hold it together anymore and asked one last time, "It's really sold?"

The clerk nodded firmly, "Yes, we have no reason to lie to you."

This time, Ryan believed it. He believed it, but his heart was broken too.

When he saw Raymond, the emotions Ryan had been holding back the whole way instantly collapsed, "Uncle Raymond, the necklace is gone."

Raymond glanced at the drawer. The necklace Ryan was so worried about was lying inside right now.

"What happened?"

Hearing him ask, Ryan couldn't help but sigh deeply, "I was a step too late."

Then he kept shaking his head, "Does this mean Cordelia and I are really meant to be completely separated?"

After saying this, he couldn't help but sigh again. Seeing him like this, Raymond wanted to say a few comforting words, but thinking it might be good for him to come to terms with it, he went along with what he said, "You already have Julie. It really isn't right to keep getting tangled up with Cordelia."

"You should see Cordelia less from now on. That's better for both you and Julie."

"But I still can't forget Cordelia."

Ryan covered his head with both hands and said in a muffled voice, "In the first year after she disappeared, I searched for her like crazy. But after looking for so long, there was no sign of her. Then Julie came along. I knew she might have feelings for me, but I was somehow bewitched by her."

"Dad and Mom were very pleased with Julie too, so I went along with the engagement. I thought life would continue like this, but I never expected Cordelia to come back!"

Ryan's emotions became agitated at this point, "Cordelia came back! Uncle Raymond, you know what? The moment I saw Cordelia, my heart leaped with joy. I couldn't control my feelings at all. I want to get back together with Cordelia. I can't forget her!"
