Chapter 46 Then Just Pretend to Be Pregnant

After hearing Ryan's words, Cordelia nodded seriously and said, "What you said is very likely, so stop following me. I don't want to drag you into this."

As Cordelia spoke, she drove off without looking back. Seeing this, Ryan quickly started his car and chased after her.

He thought Cordelia was heading back to The Fox Villa. He planned to follow her, and if she got scolded when she returned, he could help defend her.

But as they drove on, something felt off. This wasn't the way to The Fox Villa.

When they arrived at Starlight Heights, Ryan got out of the car and looked at the residential complex, feeling it looked somewhat familiar. Seeing Cordelia about to enter the complex, he quickly caught up with her in a few steps. "Cordelia, why aren't you going home? What are you doing here?"

Cordelia frowned at him. "Why are you still following me?"

Ryan thought about how cold Cordelia had been to him since her return. Could she really have a new lover?

At this thought, his voice became urgent. "Cordelia, what are you doing here?"

Hearing his words, Cordelia laughed. "Whatever I do seems to have nothing to do with you. Alright, I won't argue with you. Just leave, or I'll call Julie."

"Cordelia, don't rush off. Are you in some kind of trouble? Tell me, okay?"

Ryan reached out to grab Cordelia's arm. As they tugged back and forth, neither of them noticed someone in a distant coffee shop raising their phone to take photos of them.

"Quick, quick, send the photos to Julie."

These two were Julie's friends, Wren Kelly and Rainey Ward. The two girls muttered excitedly, their hands moving non-stop, and the photos were quickly sent out.

The moment she saw the photos, Julie stood up. Her sudden movement startled Marigold. "Julie, what are you doing?"

"It's nothing, Mom. I'm going upstairs for a moment."

Julie hurried upstairs to her bedroom, opened her phone to look at the photos carefully again, then called Rainey, pretending to be casual. "Rainey, where did you take these photos?"

"At Starlight Heights! Julie, do you want to come? Your fiancé and Cordelia are still pulling at each other right now."

When Rainey said this, there was a hint of schadenfreude in her voice. Everyone in Harborview City knew that Ryan was originally Cordelia's boyfriend, but during the three years Cordelia was missing, Julie had swooped in. Her behavior was despicable, but at the time, with Cordelia nowhere to be found, when Julie and Ryan got together, people reluctantly accepted it.

But now Cordelia had returned and even caused a scene at Julie's engagement party. This gave everyone quite a show, and many people even sided with Cordelia, thinking Julie had swooped in shamelessly.

Just when everyone was waiting to see more drama unfold, Cordelia quietly became a major shareholder of the Fox Group. Everyone assumed this was the Fox family compensating her—Cordelia got the money, Julie got Ryan, which seemed reasonable enough.

Who knew reality wasn't like that at all? Privately, Cordelia and Ryan were still in contact, and the way they were pulling at each other looked like there were still lingering feelings between them.

Hearing Rainey's excited voice in her ear, Julie's face contorted with anger. She opened her mouth and weakly explained, "Cordelia had some conflict with the family over trivial matters. I asked Ryan to find her and persuade her to come back. I didn't expect Cordelia to be living at Starlight Heights now. It's great that he found her."

After this explanation, Rainey and Wren looked at each other. So that's what it was.

Rainey asked carefully, "But aren't you angry seeing them together?"

Angry? How could she not be angry? Julie wanted nothing more than to rush over and kill Cordelia right now!

But in front of others, she didn't want to lose face. She quickly said, "Why would I be angry? You know, Cordelia was kidnapped for three years and suffered a lot. To survive, she even had to deal with multiple men. I shouldn't be saying this, so please don't spread it around."

Julie quickly cautioned the two as if she had misspoken. Hearing such explosive news, Rainey and Wren were already thrilled and quickly promised, "Don't worry, we won't tell anyone."

As they spoke, the two exchanged glances, already calculating in their minds who they would share this with first.

"So don't disturb them. I'll call them right away. Cordelia is being too willful, moving out over such a small matter. When I see her, I'll have to talk some sense into her."

Julie continued, "Alright, I'll hang up now."

"Okay, you take care."

After Rainey hung up, she looked up and saw Cordelia and Ryan still entangled, took a few more photos, then left excitedly.

On Julie's end, after hanging up, she threw her phone hard onto the table.

"Julie, what's wrong?"

Hearing the noise, Marigold rushed upstairs and pushed open the bedroom door. Seeing Marigold, Julie couldn't hold it in anymore. "Mom, Cordelia is seducing Ryan again!"

After seeing the photos, Marigold said angrily, "So that's why Cordelia agreed to move out so readily—she planned to live outside and continue seducing Ryan."

Marigold looked at Julie with some disappointment. "And you—after all this time, how have you not captured Ryan's heart?"

"Mom, is this really the time to talk about that?"

Julie was both aggrieved and angry, tears welling up in her eyes. "Help me think of something. If Ryan really gets together with Cordelia, I won't want to live anymore!"

With that, she sat on the sofa and started crying.

Thinking of Cordelia's fierceness and looking at Julie's delicate vulnerability, Marigold was truly disappointed, but she knew now wasn't the time to be angry. She thought for a moment and asked urgently, "Last time when you stayed at Ryan's place, did you two have sex?"

Looking at her eager eyes, Julie's face instantly turned red, but she still nodded. "Yes."

"Then that's perfect."

Marigold excitedly slapped her thigh. "Just say you're pregnant and force Ryan to marry you."

"But I'm not pregnant."

Marigold shook her head helplessly. "You're really being foolish. I know you're not pregnant, but you can pretend to be pregnant."

"But Mom, can't they just check if I'm pregnant or not?" Julie worried.

"Don't worry about that. I'll arrange everything."

Although Marigold confidently assured her, Julie still felt it wasn't very reliable.

However, there was no better option at the moment. If this could force Ryan to marry her, it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Julie quickly calculated in her mind, then readily agreed to Marigold's suggestion.

"Mom, I'm just pretending. If I can't keep up the act, you'll have to think of a way to cover for me."
