Chapter 37 This Person Seems to Be That Thief
Chapter 37 This Person Seems to Be That Thief
Willie was sound asleep at the time, completely unaware of the power outage. When he got Jack's call, he instantly woke up, hurriedly got dressed, and started calling people to investigate.
They quickly found out that someone had turned off the main circuit breaker. The power was restored soon after, and the villa was instantly bright again.
With the lights back on and Willie arriving with his people, Jack's confidence returned and he wasn't scared anymore.
He put his slippers back on, walked over to Cordelia and said, "What were you saying about a thief?"
Cordelia played with the dagger in her hand, saying casually, "I'm not sure what happened exactly. Someone broke into my bedroom, got stabbed by me and then I kicked them down. Don't know if they're dead or alive."
Her words were casual, but they stirred up a storm in Jack's heart.
His first reaction was - how could there possibly be a thief in the house!
His second reaction was - this thief was really unlucky to have picked Cordelia's room. But he was also shocked that Cordelia was so capable, actually stabbing a thief?
Was this still his delicate daughter?
Could this person be a fake Cordelia who came back to claim the inheritance?
No, he'd have to secretly get a paternity test done one of these days.
With this thought, Jack examined Cordelia with scrutinizing eyes while saying, "Where did the thief fall? Quick, take us there to see."
"Right below my bedroom window on the first floor."
Cordelia casually pointed in that direction. Willie knew the place she mentioned.
Willie quickly called a few people and led the way to where Cordelia indicated.
The Fox Villa was really bustling today. First there was the claim that Cordelia stole Marigold's heirloom necklace, even the police were called.
Who knew it would be a false alarm - the item was stolen by the maid Ivy, and Ivy was arrested. Just when things finally calmed down and everyone went to bed, a thief broke into Cordelia's room!
This explosive news instantly alerted everyone in The Fox Villa. Whether asleep or awake, they all got up to see what was happening.
Now even Julie had to get up and join the commotion.
Julie's expression was very unpleasant along the way. She knew Dorian had failed.
Not only had he failed, but worse, he was injured too. Whether he was dead or alive, she didn't know.
She secretly glanced at Cordelia. Was this still the Cordelia she remembered?
But regardless, they needed to find Dorian first.
A group of people arrived below Cordelia's bedroom. The bushes were empty, not a soul in sight.
Jack was fuming mad and roared at Cordelia, "Where's the person? This is the thief you mentioned - where is he!"
"If he's not here, then he ran away."
Cordelia looked at Jack like she was looking at an idiot and said, "You didn't think he'd just lie here waiting for you to catch him, did you?"
Jack was so choked by her words he nearly rolled his eyes. Listen to that - was that any way to talk? Was this how you treat your own father?
"You say there was a thief, at least show some evidence. If there's no evidence, I suspect you just made this whole thing up."
As soon as Jack finished speaking, before Cordelia could respond, someone behind them exclaimed, "Blood, there's a large bloodstain here."
Everyone looked in the direction of the voice and indeed saw a large pool of blood on the grass. This finally cleared Cordelia's name.
Jack went over to look at the bloodstain, and his face instantly changed.
No matter how much Cordelia fought with the family, no matter how angry he was at Cordelia, he had never wanted to harm her life.
Regardless of everything, Cordelia was still his daughter. If any scandal got out, it would still affect the Fox family's reputation.
With this thought, his expression immediately darkened, and he said sternly, "Where are the security guards? What are they doing? Call them all over!"
Soon all the security guards from The Fox Villa were called over. Jack looked around and quickly noticed something wrong. "Where's Dorian?"
The security guards looked at each other, none of them knowing where Dorian was.
After a moment, someone spoke up, "Dorian is off tonight, so he's not here. He should have gone home."
"Call him!"
Jack snapped irritably. Such a big incident happened at the villa, how could he still be sleeping?
Willie quickly called Dorian. The phone rang twice before someone picked up.
A sleepy voice came from the other end. Willie hurriedly explained what happened and urged repeatedly, "Come over quickly."
Then he hung up.
On the other end of the phone, Dorian's heart trembled. He looked down at the bleeding wound on his chest, endured the intense pain, and poured an entire bottle of medicinal powder directly onto the wound.
After the bleeding stopped, he took bandages and wrapped them around several times, then put on a black T-shirt before standing up to check himself in the mirror.
Except for his pale face, there didn't seem to be anything wrong.
He grabbed a jacket and put it on before leaving home.
When he arrived at The Fox Villa, Jack had already cursed out the security guards thoroughly and was now sitting there breathing heavily.
Seeing this, Dorian had to steel himself and walk over.
"Mr. Fox."
Seeing him arrive so late, Jack got even angrier.
"A thief broke into the villa, do you know that? What kind of head of security are you!"
After scolding until his mouth was dry, Jack finally stopped. He said irritably to Dorian, "Hurry up and have your people check the surveillance to see who cut the power."
Tonight's events were too strange - first the power cut, then a thief. Had this thief been watching the Fox family all along?
Wait, that's not right. Why did the thief specifically go to Cordelia's room?
Could it be that Cordelia had offended someone outside?
With this thought, Jack became even more restless. One Cordelia was already difficult enough to deal with. If a bunch of enemies appeared now, they might as well give up.
But if he asked Cordelia directly, she definitely wouldn't tell him.
No, he'd have to get someone to investigate her. While Jack's mind was spinning, Cordelia was staring intently at Dorian.
Although it was pitch dark at night, Cordelia had seen the thief's silhouette, and Dorian's build seemed very similar to that thief's.
Dorian keenly sensed Cordelia's eyes fixed on him. His heart was uneasy, but he pretended to be calm as he instructed his subordinates, "You few go check the surveillance, you go check the electrical system, the rest of you come with me to search the surrounding area."
"Yes!"
Several security guards responded in unison, turned around and prepared to follow Dorian away.
"Stop!"
At that moment, Cordelia's voice rang out. Dorian's steps halted, his palms sweating nervously.
