Chapter 38 Take Off Your Clothes

Chapter 38 Take Off Your Clothes

Dorian stiffly turned around to face Cordelia and said, "Ms. Fox, what can I do for you?"

Cordelia didn't speak. Instead, she walked up to him unhurriedly, stopped, and looked him up and down.

"Similar, really similar!"

Dorian broke out in a cold sweat. He forced himself to stay calm and said, "What do you mean by that, Ms. Fox?"

"Where were you at midnight?"

She was suspicious after all.

Suppressing the turmoil in his heart, Dorian managed to say, "I was sleeping."

"Can anyone confirm that?"

Cordelia pressed on step by step. Dorian replied, "No one. I'm single and live alone."

Cordelia let out a cold laugh and said, "So there's no witness, is that it?"

Cordelia's words not only made Dorian nervous, but even Julie, standing nearby, sensed something was wrong.

Seeing that Cordelia was already suspecting Dorian, she couldn't help but speak up: "Cordelia, Dad already scolded Dorian. Stop nitpicking. The most important thing now is to find the thief."

"You seem pretty close with Dorian."

Cordelia raised an eyebrow at Julie.

Hearing this, Julie's lips moved but she didn't say anything more to defend Dorian.

It wasn't that she didn't want to—she didn't dare. To avoid exposing her relationship with Dorian, she had to keep quiet.

But Cordelia wasn't going to let Dorian off just because Julie stopped talking.

Her gaze swept back and forth between Julie and Dorian, and she instantly understood. If Dorian really was that person from earlier, then Julie must be behind this.

Cordelia's stare made Dorian panic inside. He forced himself to appear calm: "If Ms. Fox has no other instructions, I'll be going now."

Just as he was about to turn around, a gust of wind suddenly came from behind him. Dorian was about to dodge, but it pulled at his wound. The sharp pain slowed him down.

That one moment of slowness, and his back took a hard kick, sending him crashing to the ground.

The sudden turn of events happened so fast that by the time everyone turned around, Dorian was already lying on the ground.

Seeing Cordelia attack without warning, not only was Julie stunned, even Jack was shocked speechless.

Had Cordelia lost her mind, randomly hitting people like this?

That kick was no joke—it had knocked down Dorian, the strongest of the security guards, so hard he couldn't get up.

Cordelia was getting crazier and crazier. Jack felt his scalp tingle, but since it happened right in front of him, he couldn't ignore it. He had to bite the bullet and say, "Cordelia, what are you doing? Why are you hitting people for no reason?"

"So this is the security captain you hired? This weak? No wonder a thief got into the house without anyone knowing."

As Cordelia spoke, she walked up to him and reached her hand toward Dorian's chest.

She really was suspicious.

Watching Cordelia's hand get closer and closer to the wound on his chest, Dorian quickly raised his hand to block her.

"Please show some respect, Ms. Fox."

Looking at her hand blocked in mid-air, Cordelia gave a cold laugh and said, "That thief was you, wasn't it?"

As soon as she said this, everyone present erupted in shock.

"What are you talking about? We hired Dorian at a high salary. How could he be a thief!"

Julie's blurted words made Cordelia realize that Julie must know about this.

Since he was Julie's lackey, he definitely couldn't be kept around anymore.

Cordelia looked up and stared into Dorian's eyes: "That thief just now was cut on the chest by my knife. Dorian, do you dare lift your shirt and let everyone see?"

At these words, everyone's eyes fell on Dorian.

Beads of cold sweat instantly appeared on Dorian's forehead. Suppressing the chill in his heart, he looked at Cordelia and said, "I didn't know Ms. Fox had such interests?"

"Cut the crap. You guys, strip his shirt off!"

Hearing Cordelia's words, the security guards looked at each other, none daring to step forward. Seeing this, Cordelia shot them a cold glance: "I'm saying Dorian is the thief now. If you don't go up there, does that mean you're in on it with Dorian?"

Hearing this, the guards surrounded him, each saying, "Dorian, sorry about this. Ms. Fox ordered it. We don't dare disobey."

Seeing them closing in, Dorian couldn't hide the panic on his face. He looked up at Jack: "Mr. Fox, I'm the security captain you hired. Is this how the Fox family treats its employees? If I am the thief, fine, but if I'm not, and word gets out that you forced me like this, it'll damage the Fox family's reputation."

As soon as Dorian finished speaking, Julie quickly chimed in: "Exactly, Dad. Cordelia just decided Dorian is the thief based on one sentence. That's not right, is it?"

Jack frowned, looking at Dorian and then at Cordelia: "Cordelia, you need evidence to make accusations. It's not right to randomly point at someone and call them a thief, is it?"

"Didn't I say? The wound on his body is the best evidence. If he wants to prove his innocence, just take off his shirt."

Seeing Cordelia insist, Jack had to say: "Dorian, Cordelia has a point. Why don't you just take off your shirt and let us all see? Don't worry, as long as the misunderstanding is cleared up, I'll give you a hundred thousand dollars in compensation."

Just taking off a shirt to get a hundred thousand dollars in compensation—who wouldn't be tempted by that? But Dorian wouldn't accept it.

Seeing him still not moving, not only Cordelia but even Jack sensed something was wrong.

"Dorian."

He had just started speaking when he saw a figure flash before his eyes. Before Jack could react in surprise, he saw Dorian spring up and run toward the door.

This sudden escape threw everyone in the courtyard into chaos.

"What's going on? Is Dorian really the thief? You guys, stop him!"

Hearing Jack's panicked voice, the guards finally snapped out of it and rushed after Dorian.

"Stop! Don't run!"

They shouted as they chased, but unfortunately, Dorian ran too fast. By the time they got there, he was already far away.

Just as Dorian was about to disappear from the courtyard, Cordelia pulled out a dagger from her waist, weighed it in her hand, and threw it at Dorian's retreating figure.
