Chapter 51 Trying To Play Step-Mother

Chapter 51 Trying To Play Step-Mother
Anna’s smile faltered.

DiCapro?

Like Alex DiCaprio?

She didn’t have the time to think when the door to the ice cream parlor creaked open, the bell ringing as a particular feet stepped inside.

N—No—No!

Before she could even think to duck, she noticed those pair of ice glare trailed on her.

Stacey—Or rather Stella’s heels drummed against the floor as she walked slowly towards them, her forehead knotting angrily immediately she recognized who it was.

Anna!

How dare she kidnap her daughter and try to play step-mother?!

She reached for summer and grabbed her, pulling her behind her back much to the little girl’s dismay.

She held her mother’s leg, her head popped out as she stared at Anna with guilt.

Anna gave her a gentle, reassuring smile, making the little girl’s expression lighten a bit.

Anna got up, her height the same length as Stella despite the heels that she put on.

‘’I didn’t know she was your daughter. If I did, I would’ve taken her to a place where it'd be reallyyy hard for you to find her.’’ Anna muttered, gritting her teeth as she spoke.

Every single world was laced with venom, a genuine smile etched across her lips as she spoke.

Stella cackled, her eyes skimming through Anna. ‘’I’d always find where she is.’’ She muttered, flashing a pair of watch on her wrist in Anna’s direction.

It was some kind of a tracker.

Probably why she knew the exact location to come to.

Anna nodded her head, raising both hands in the air in defeat.

‘’Alright. You can be on your way then.’’ She said, backing away from her.

She plopped back on the chair, watching as Stella grabbed unto summer’s hands roughly, pulling her with her.

‘’You don’t mind me telling Alex that you somehow kidnapped my daughter do you? Don’t worry, I already hit send.’’ She muttered, giving Anna an apologetic smile.

Anna chuckled, watching through the glass as Stella shoved Summer into the car. Then slipped in too, driving away.

Her phone dinged and she picked it up, her eyes widening in shock at the message.

‘Meet me in my personal study. Now!’

A nervous chuckle escaped her lips as she stared at Alex’s message.

This was exactly what Stella wanted and she was getting it.

She stood up from the chair and walked out, slipping into her car.

She gripped the steering wheel tight, her legs pressing the gas pedal hard as she headed back to the library.

She came to a screeching stop just outside, pulling the car door open and stepping out.

Her steps were light as she entered into the library.

‘’The little girl already went with her mother.’’ She said to the librarian who nodded his head like it was a normal thing.

‘’Her mother always manages to find her wherever she is. I hope you didn’t get scolded as much as I do?’’ He asked, raising his head up from an old book.

Anna chuckled, nodding her head.

‘’I haven’t seen the half of it yet.’’ She murmured, averting her gaze.

She went back to the shelf, picking a few interesting books.

Some of them were old books that she had already read and hoping to read again.

‘’I can lend these right?’’ She asked, placing all four of the books on the librarian’s desk.

He stared at it through his glasses, contemplating.

‘’Yh you can. But you’d better return it on the specified date alright?’’ He said, slipping her a piece of paper.

His fingers drummed against the space that read ‘Return after use on or before the specified date’.

Anna nodded, scribbling her name, phone number, name of the books she took and the date she thought was best to return each books.

Satisfied, she passed the paper back to the librarian, watching as he inspected it before waving a dismissive hand her way.

‘’Thank you Mr bridgewith’’ She murmured, flanking a hand his way before leaving.

The hot air hit her, the sun already going down, slowly plunging into evening.

She hopped into her car, speeding towards home.

Alex was going to kill her and she was already ready to receive an earful from him.

She pulled to a stop by the side of the foutain, stepping out of the car.

Her steps where quick as she headed for Alex personal study, her feet staying rooted to the ground for a few moment. Before she raised her hands towards the door, knocking.

A small, inaudible ‘come in’ bloomed from inside the room, making Anna’s heart thump painfully in her chest.

She inhaled and exhaled, her hand wrapping around the door knob as she twisted it, pushing the door open.

The first thing she saw was Alex behind his desk, reading glasses etched across the bridge of his nose, his eyes laced on the paper in his right hand while his left hand was pressing a phone to his ear.

‘’We do not wish to collaborate with such a business anymore. Grey’s couture knows it’s worth. And it’s disheartening to say the least that we are being dragged with such an entity.’’ He said, his lips pursing, head knotted as he listened to what the person at the other end of the phone said.

Anna just stood rooted to the floor, her hands playing with the helm of her shirt while her eyes were rooted to his lips as he spoke, aura bleeding from each words.

‘’Of course! Thank you so much Mr Benedict.’’ He muttered again, withdrawing the phone from his ear.

The beep sound came next as he hung up, his eyes finally moving to meet hers.

It rested on her face for a little too long, her heart thumping as she shifted uncomfortably under his intense gaze.

‘’Take a seat.’’ He muttered, his gaze finally leaving hers.

There was an eery feel to his words, something that broke the resolve Anna had when she walked into the room.

She walked closer, pulling the seat across from him and plopping on it.

Her hands were still clutching unto the helm of her shirt tightly as she waited for his words.

‘’How was she?’’ He asked, his eyes not leaving hers.

Her face twisted for a fraction of a moment, confusion setting in.

Then she finally understood, her face lighting up at his question.

‘’Lovely. She’s beautiful, foul mouthed, kind and literally just a mischievous child.’’ Anna murmured, the turmoil in her heart dissipating.

She watched a small smile curl up Alex lips, a chuckle escaping it.

‘’That’s summer for you.’’ He murmured, his proud smile morphing into a bitter one.

‘’I am ready to gain full custody of her.’’ He murmured, his face now hardening.

Anna shivered as she felt the cold seep out of him and slip into her.

Before she could retort, she watched Alex stand up from his seat, his steps slow as he walked up to her.

He crouched down to her level, his lips almost kissing her ears as his breath fanned her.

‘’And you’re going to help me with it.’’
