Chapter 50 A New Friend

Chapter 50 A New Friend
Anna’s face twisted, laughter almost rippling from her.

But she held it down, not want to make the little girl unhappy.

But under her intense scrutiny, she was starting to feel like she actually knew she was going to laugh at her.

Her face twisted too as she crossed her arms against her chest.

‘’I’m not joking’’ She muttered, rolling her eyes.

Anna nodded, staring down at her. Before she could retort, she watched the little girl’s expression so from shock to fear.

Her once amused and slightly peaceful face immediately morphed into the face of someone who had seen far more horror than anyone.

She ran to a corner, hiding just by the wooden shelf.

Anna’s face fell at that.

She could see a few body part still showing, the part shaking like a leaf.

She’d never seen someone that scared before.

Her head turned to the back and she saw a man with broad shoulders, shadows casting long strides on his hardened face as he stared around, his legs threateningly drumming against the floor.

Anna quickly headed for the girl, blocking her with a part of her body.

The little part of the girl’s body was no longer visible and even though the scary man walked toward’s Anna, he could barely sight the little girl.

He pulled out his phone, his hands hovering over the keyboard for a while.

‘’Have you seen this girl?’’ He asked, turning his phone towards her.

Anna stared at the photo, recognizing it as the little girl.

She pulled at her hair in frustration, also bringing out her phone.

She opened it and scrolled up, corking the lit screen in the man’s direction.

‘’Have you seen my son?’’ She asked, a solemn expression laced on her face.

‘’I haven’t seen him in years.’’ She continued, making the man shift comfortably.

‘‘I’m sure you’ll find her.’’ He murmured, turning around.

Anna watched as he searched around the whole of the library. When he didn’t find the little girl, he shook his head, his steps receding into the distance as he exited the library.

The small girl came out of her hiding place, her heart hammering painfully.

Her small face was shrouded with sweat, her heart heaving fast like she was having palpitations.

She clutched at her little heart, moving closer to Anna.

‘’Thank you.’’ She murmured, staring at her with doe eyes.

She was no longer rude anymore, only grateful and so Danm cute!

‘’Who was he?’’ Anna answered, crouching down to the kid’s level.

‘’My nanny.’’ She answered, taking her bag off her back.
‘’Your nanny? He looks more like a…’’ She paused, not knowing how to continue.

But the little girl immediately understood what she was trying to say.

She nodded, retrieving something from her bag.

It was a book, like a coloring pencil book.

She opened the inside and Anna saw that it was yet to be touched.

‘’This is my favorite colluding book. I cherish it so much, I have never written anything on it. Since you helped me out today, I would like to give it to you.’’ She uttered, stretching the book towards Anna.

Anna stared at it, her heart bubbling with joy.

She had no plans of taking such a precious item from a kid. But the thoughts that she was willing to give that away made her happy.

She stretched out her hands and patted the little girl’s hair, smiling when she saw that the girl didn’t back away.

Not like she had done previously when they didn’t know anything about each other.

‘’Oh don’t worry. You can keep that. If you want to thank me, Be my friend.’’ Anna said, her eyes holding sincerity as she stretched out her hands, hoping for the little girl to take it.

The little girl stared at the outstretched hands for a while, her beautiful orbs glued to them.

She contemplated for a while before finally placing her hands on Anna’s, accepting.

A huge smile broke across Anna’s lips as she got back on her feet.

She helped the little girl drape her backpack properly behind her bag.

‘’Would you like some ice cream?’’ She asked, her eyes fixated on the little girl as she waited for a response.

With how the kid had always had her guards up around her, Anna was expecting her to reject the offfer without giving it proper thoughts.

But to her shock, she saw a hint of happiness laced in the kid’s eyes.

Her eyes lit up as she stared up at Anna, trying to contain her joy.

She nodded her head, making Anna’s smile widen the more.

‘’Alright! I’ll take you to an ice cream parlor then.’’ She muttered, holding her by the arms.

She walked towards the librarian and checked out, holding the girl as she walked towards the exit of the library.

‘’Don’t forget to bring the mischievous one back. Her parents would be worried shit about her.’’ The librarian muttered, watching as both ladies moves to leave the library.

Anna quickly nodded at his words, promising to drop the little girl back to where she found her to avoid any kind of misunderstanding with her parents.

She opened the passenger’s seat of her car and helped the girl in, buckling her seat belt properly.

Satisfied, she closed the door gently and walked to the other side of the car, slipping in.

Her hands wrapped against the steering wheel as she started the engine, driving towards the ice cream parlor.

She came to a halt just outside of it and slipped out, turning around to unbuckle the little princess and help her out.

She closed the car doors and carried her into the ice cream parlor, her eyes stuck to the glass compartment where the ice creams were.

Anna looked to the girl, watching as her mouth watered just by staring at the ice cream.

‘’Which one do you want?’’ She asked, watching the girl fight for which one she’d love to take out of many undeniable colourful and really mouth-watering ice cream.

‘’Vanilla and chocolate.’’ She finally said after contemplating for a while.

Anna nodded. ‘’I’ll like a place of Vanilla and chocolate ice cream please.’’ She said to the sales woman behind the glass.

Nodding, the sales lady prepared the ice cream and passed it towards Anna.

‘’For you and your beautiful daughter.’’ She said, her words almost taking Anna aback.

But she swallowed it, corking a nervous smile the sales lady way.

She took the ice cream and walked towards a seat by the side of the window while making the little girl seat across from her.

She watched her scoop a few ice cream and pop in her mouth, her eyes closing as the taste melted into her bud.

‘’Do you like it?’’ Anna asked, chuckling.

The little girl bobbed her head.

‘’What’s your name?’’ Anna finally asked.

The curiousity had be gnawing at her for a while.

‘’Summer. Summer DiCaprio.’’
