Chapter 79 Heart of gold
Hazel did not speak immediately.
She was still coming to terms with the fact that she was the golden orb, she was still trying to process how that could be possible but now, hearing that her heart is the golden orb just seemed to complicate things even more.
“My… heart”?
She finally repeated, her voice barely above a whisper.
Zariel nodded once, slow and deliberate.
“Yes Hazel, not metaphorically, not symbolically… literally”.
The room was silent.
“That’s not possible”.
Kael suddenly said after a while.
“She’s alive, she bleeds”.
He said, explaining how her heart could not be gold when it functioned like a normal one.
“She lives…”
Zariel paused for a few seconds, shifting his gaze from Kael to Hazel and from Hazel back to Kael.
“… but her heart doesn't function like that of a normal being.
She doesn't even function like a fallen because she is made with something more superior than all of us.
Hazel used to bleed, because she had not yet activated her orb. But now that she has, it will only take a miracle to stop her. Because no one can kill her unless she lets them”.
He explained and Hazel looked lost, trying to get used to this newly found power she had just unlocked.
Dona stepped forward.
“The prophecies always spoke of the orb as an object, a relic, not a person”.
She insisted but Zariel gave a knowing smile.
“That was intentional”.
He replied.
“If the world had known the truth… that the golden orb was alive, and linked to the soul of a living being, it would have been hunted far more brutally than it is being hunted now”.
Hazel didn't stay lost in her thoughts for long as she suddenly looked at Zariel, ready to take on any form of responsibility the orb came with.
“Tell me, what do I have to do”?
Zariel looked at her and the determination on her face made him even more serious, certain she was ready to give this her all.
If he was going to fight along side her, he most definitely didn't want want her to be some sort of weakling.
The room fell silent for a while, Hazel was focused on Zariel and he was equally focused on her.
“Train”.
He said and she raised a brow, wondering what he meant by that.
“I do train, almost everyday until you came along”.
She said but he shook his head.
“Not that kind of training, I mean you need to train hard! And not just physically. You will have to train your heart and grow your powers.
You hold much more than you can imagine but the only way to accomplish anything is to be mentally ready”.
He said and she exhaled heavily before she finally nodded.
“What do we do first”?
She asked and he smiled.
“I like the fact that you are eager to begin and not cowering away, behind your alpha husband.
But this is not something we need to do now. For now, let us all go and get some rest. And after… we train”.
He said and she nodded in agreement.
Hazel had just finished a crazy fight with a creature of the ocean, she was tired and exhausted but she couldn't rest.
The ocean seemed to have brought out something in her, something she didn't know she had.
She was suddenly eager to see her enemies fall.
She was desperate for that satisfaction she got after injuring Maximus so much and she wanted that trill more than she had ever wanted it.
“What's wrong? Are you worried you won't be able to win against her”?
Kael asked but as soon as Hazel turned to him, he noticed the look in her eyes wasn't one of fear of nervousness at all.
“I want to face her Kael. I want to show her, that I am not one to be messed with.
I want to ruin her so much that it would be impossible for her to ever get back up again. She should not even be able to reincarnate”.
She said. Kael smiled but deep down, he was worried.
He knew she wasn't one to cower away from danger, but he didn't know where this sudden urge to attack suddenly came from.
Hazel was peaceful and only fought when it was very compulsory but now… it looked like she wanted to go and get the fight herself.
“Are you okay”?
He asked and she immediately shook her head.
“I'm not”.
She said as she began pacing back and forth.
“I most definitely am not okay.
I won't be okay until I completely ruin Rave and everything she holds dear”.
Kael stood up from the bed and moved close to her.
“Hazel…”
He called, placing his hands on both sides of her shoulder.
“You just got back, why does it feel like all that has consumed your mind is Rave"?
He asked but she pushed his hand away, surprising Kael.
“What else should I be thinking about? With her there, my family and anyone close to me will constantly be faced with danger.
No one can move freely because of some crazy lady roaming around and claiming powers that never belonged to her”.
Her chest was moving up and down so fast at this point and Kael was beginning to feel like was wrong.
“Hazel, I'll need you to calm down”.
She looked at him with a brow raised.
“Calm down”?
She asked.
“How can I calm down Kael? Don't you think we've been calm for too long?
How much longer… how much more does she have to do before we can actually go after her”?
Kael sighed with his eyes closed.
“If we attack her like this, we won't be able to achieve anything. We won't be able to get her if we don't plan properly”.
“Stop”!!
Hazel yelled, shocking Kael even more. She looked at him for a while and closed her eyes, trying to calm herself down.
“Stop talking about plans”.
She said and looked at him seriously.
“It's time to attack Kael. And if you're not going to help me, just don't stop me”.
